READ THE (temp)WIKI! & help by contributing:
https://igwiki.lyci.de/wiki/Home_server

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

The main point of identity and access management software is having a single set of user identification (selfhosted single sign-on) and to restrict applications access to a set of approved users.
Some applications support oauth2/openidconnect and thus have custom features based on the user's permissions. Some are just barebone but their access can still be restricted via the access management.
The main players are Authentik and Keycloak.

There's not much you can do really, I wrestled with the same thing during this year after I inherired a bunch of old drives. Fortunately I had a 20+ old desktop with ATX case and just shoved them in there, fired up OpenMediaVault and left it powered down as cold storage.

Any other solution just doesn't make economical sense, as you're realising. I hate to waste old gear that's still completly servicable too.

She enjoys doing videos. From time to time. I assume as a sort of hobby. I haven’t watched the streams but anons claim she looked very uncomfortable as well

There’s a very big difference between doing a video every other year and regularly streaming, ever heard the saying “if you like something, don’t make it your job”?
>>
>>107739660
>she still not married
what a waste of prime pussy
>>
>>107739620
She very clearly does NOT enjoy streaming live and is super awkward. Her videos are fun, but she seems like the kind of person who hates most of her own ideas and wouldn't be willing to just pump out constant low-effort slop, which is what you need to do to make it these days. Her current status as an ethereal, unobtainable goddess who only appears once a year (if that) IS her gimmick. If she doesn't need the money, there's no reason to ruin a good thing.

This entire thread immediately associating VPN with (encrypted) IP proxies is proof that the psyop has worked.
Yes, good goy. keep using the secure (honeypot) service to access insecure (honeypot) services. And don't ever think about having a home server. It's insecure.
>>
>>107724206
i pay for a vpn but i only use the socks5 included with the subscription
>>
>>107737604
It's more a case of majority of people understanding the context, which in this case is clearly about VPN as a (paid) service, and you being a pedantic faggot by saying "ackshcshually you can self host a VPN tunnel" and missing the entire point of the conversation.

You now remember that Linux could do all these effects on a cheap Dell with a Pentium. Meanwhile, Windows Vista at the exact same time needed maxed out specs in order to make a window border pseudot-transparent.

Hardly, you're probably just contrarian. The problem is webshit creeping into everything. Compositing is only an issue if you can't disable it or you have a bad config.

Tracking devices. All Apple devices transmit their unique bluetooth address every few seconds, so they're easy to track. I still have that anon's app that shows those on a map. You can see them in a mall, then drive around a town to find where the Apple users are living. It's awesome

Qualcomm's most advanced ARM chips now rival the performance of the Apple M5. Why hasn't Qualcomm opted to open source the drivers, enabling the creation of robust ARM Linux laptops? Do they have deal with Microsoft?

Too many devs won't click the compile for arm option in Visual Studio so the majority of apps run in emu mode.

What's your question?

>>107739046
The thumbnail eneration happens on Mega side and something could have gone wrong there.
Maybe the file names had incorrect extensions.
>>
>>107739590
the memory card probably has two partitions. windows/dos is a bit funny in that a drive letter can refer to both "a drive" and "a volume", like "H:" was the "empty drive", which become H: as volume 1 on the card, and I: as volume 2 on the card

See, I thought of that because I checked the metadata for the files and they were all correct.

will wearable monitors be a thing starting with the steam frame?
19 replies omitted. Click here to view.

It will definitely be nice to have a usable lower power PC as the headset instead of needing to use it as a peripheral for a PC like the Quest 3.
>>107734654
Unless you really want to go 2K or 4K, the PPD is probably going to be good enough for virtual monitors unless you make them really tiny.
>>107735246
No, that's just propaganda from the HDMI forum trying to keep their stranglehold on the market as the large flat panel TV (and thus their core income source for HDMI sloppa) goes obsolete due to space and electricity concerns, as well as a shift to more individualized media consumption. The resolution is good enough to replace most common monitors that aren't enthusiast high resolution displays.
>>
>>107734616
not a chance. taking into account VR distortions the Steam Frame will be like having two 1080p monitors very close to your eyes. text looks like ass and if you arent a VR veteran you'll get tired and uncomfy with wearing it within an hour.
>>
>>107734782
oh boy are you in for a fucking shock
>>
>>107735276
Pixmax have a better model than that, the pixmax crystal super. the resolution is 7680 x 3840.
>>
>>107734616
Fixed focal basically makes this useless for any text reading/writing usage.
You will have to put the screen in the absolute sweet spot to have the sharpest text, and any movement will make it blurry, or you need to make it fuckhuge.
I keep spamming it, but varifocal is a mandatory major tech unlock.
