Did he really save AMD from the brink of death with the Zen microarchitecture?

Intel helped a ton by being usual filthy and corrupt self but with a newfound ability to shoot itself in the foot.
>>

Yes, chiplets were genuinely good.
They became devastatingly good when Intel forgot how to shrink transistors for some reason, but chiplet economics would have still been very competitive even intel had avoided 16nm++++++.
Also it was a lot of different people coming together to make it work, though Keller was a star player he wasn’t the whole team.
>>
>>107785036
if you really need to ask, realize that AMD's stock price used to be closer to $2 a share before Keller
>>
Zen was a game changer for them and they needed it. Bulldozer or what ever it was called before that was at the end of its rope. Too hot, too much power. It helped that Intel forgot how to design new stuff and forgot to buy fab time. Recently they have pivoted a bit with efficiency cores, but this really is only an attempt to hold off arm/risc5. Not sure how much AMD made from selling APUs for consoles, they probably did large orders at low margins.

Keller is an interesting guy, I have seen a few podcasts he was on. Seems like he doesn't play with computers as a hobby, spends his time windsurfing and pondering what it would be like to make a km^3 CPUs.
He also worked for Tesla for a while, they seem to have given up on their own silicon.

I created a highly specialized program to password scramble my files so no one can view them save for me. It scrambles their hex data using an input string that is ideally only known to the scrambler.
Suck it, feds.

How hard is it to create something like Neuro? I don't watch him but read he spends hundreds of hours working on her. What is there to work on and tweak? Isn't she an open source LLM? What does he have to work on?

you chunk any text you want to remember and store it in a vector db along with a calculated vector. when some new chat happens you calculate its vector and search the vector db for the most similar stored chunks and pass those in the context window with the chat. this lets the bot remember similar things that it may use in a reply.
>>
>>107786848
Yeah neuro is robotic enough to fall outside of the uncanny valley right from the start.
Listening to a leading LLM talk feels like interacting with a shapeshifter trying to fake being a human so it can snap your neck the moment you turn around.

OP is retarded. When AMD moved to more core consumer chips, they created Ryzen 9.
Makes way more sense then to disrupt Ryzen 3/5/7 that have always set number of cores, unlike i3/i5/i7.

Here’s one networking thread I had that landed me a part time research position:

Freshman year: I identified a chatty grade A student near me and struck up conversation now and then. I got my work done early in the class. When he brought up problems in his program, I offered to walk through it with him (as this was freshman year we were following a pretty strict and simple formula so easy for me to contribute). He obliges, I find an issue, problems resolved. He thanks me and we finish the semester.

Junior Spring: I join the ACM club, of which he is now president. I had taken a special topics temporary course on machine learning, so I approached this guy offering to put together a ppt and host a meeting going over the basics of ML and showing off the project I developed for the class. He accepted, I presented, those in attendance now knew me as the “AI guy” and assumed I was ahead of the curve.

Junior Fall: ACM president approaches me in the hall and tells me about an upcoming paid AI research position a professor is looking to have filled. He tells me “When he told me what it was about, I thought of you, so ask him about it and tell him I sent you.” He heard about it due to his involvement as ACM club president, but couldn’t take it as he had a full schedule. I thanked him, spoke with the professor about it, and landed the position without any real competition. Senior year, I worked with phd students doing “real shit” and getting paid while doing it. All because I offered my shitty services at the right time to the right person. Not my only instance of this, but the most prominent.

This caricature sounds utterly retarded now, but this was all of you fagtards up until half a year ago. Every single one of you. I've been warning you retarded luddites since 2020, and none of you listened until AI's BBC (Big Binary Cock) was already slammed into your asshole.
My job is gone within three to five years max, but I've already made my money in ML while you amoebas were twiddling your thumbs and denying the inevitable.

Now I live happily off investments (many in AI-related companies) while all of you have your heads spinning wondering "Where did it all go wrong?"

I'll tell you where it went wrong: You. You are where it went wrong.

CannelCase is better and easier to work with for autocomplete, its shorter so you can fit longer dir's on the screen, it reduces cognitive load because you're not having to differentiate the _ and / symbols.

I typically only use underscores for seperating numbers from words in repetitive filenames (example: image_1, image_2, image_3 ....) and sometimes when im making a simple local backup of a folder (example: old_foldername, bak_foldername, foldername_old, foldername_bak ...)

When you design a circuit with breadboard, wires, resistors, capacitors, chips, diodes, LEDs, thermistors, and all the little sensors and modules you want for your system, you look at the final result and make a diagram of the connections, components, and their tolerances (5V power, X-Ohm resistor, etc). If you give the diagram you've made to a company, they'll send it to a factory in China for you and more likely than not solder the connections to the component, where you just open the box they ship back, and lo, the thing you've designed is there.

The chip in the OP pic is just a shrunk-down version of a larger circuit. Machine soldering the component will be less of a pain in the ass, but if you know there's a problem and you can use a multimeter to test the connection between two points on the circuit, you can desolder and resolder by hand, or replace a component as you need to.

If you wanted to print your own solder mask and wire all the connections between components, you could, but you'd need specialized equipment. All the white lettering you see on the board is silkscreen, a separate process to make the connections intelligible.

To run Windows on ARM platforms.
>>
>>107790891
Originally for better laptop/mobile battery life. But it seems Lunar Lake has made that redundant. Kinda sucks for them since they put a bunch of work into making arm windows work and the prism emulator. Maybe arm will get better again but Intel made a serious comeback in that segment.
>>
>>107790891
>Use case?
Trying to stay relevant. But Windows ""people"" are just gaymers and employees and 90% of the time, they have a x86 Desktop PC with a monitor at work or at home.

ARM people have a Macbook, Chromebook, Phones and iPads. But I'm glad Microsoft is pushing ARM, that means more devices and hopefully 1 day a good alternative to a Macbook, where we can install Linux.

Should they have just smashed a sim card into these fuckers? would have saved us all a lot of doom scrolling if phone devices were even slightly less convenient to pull out, not to mention women wouldn't expect you to reply to them in 5 mins after every sent text.
