Is there a point to solar balconies? Can you generate a meaningful amount of electricity for the 4-6 hours a day where your panels are in direct sunlight?

To the contrary, Solarpunk shows us all that there can be a better future than the grimdark stuff we are standing in up to our ears. And media purs in more blood and filth, thinking it is for our best.

>>108501381
Yes, it is sufficiently meaningful that socialist governments are now looking into how to apply even more taxes to this.
And you don't need direct sunlight, it will also work in cloudy weather. The duck curve shows the impact of solar power, some is from solar balconies.
I got two panels for free, each rated 580W at 42V, that I am about to install. With 5 hours of sun at about 1 kW, I will get 5 kWh per day, worth about 50 cents per day, or 180 buck per year.
>>
>>108501700
i thought solarpunk means the sun has been enclosed in a giant power reactor and everything is solar powered but there's no sun

People give Solarpunk very different meanings, something it is communist while others think it is capitalist. The only common thing is that it is the opposite of Cyberpunk dystopia.
The commonly seen lack of crowds is rather ominous, though.

This major is only worth it if you're like the top 10% of candidates while the rest of the 90% of CS graduates will end up working at McDonald's. All your hopes and dreams, all your effort towards this major, all of it flushed down the shitter while stuck with thousands of dollars of debt.

It's over, every normie in this field is utterly fucked.

Nothing is immune to jeetification. I think people are... badly predicting the effects of AI but at the moment, operations work isn't as easy to just point a handful of Claude agents to churn out solutions. And maybe you're building the clusters running the AI models, etc.

A I've had co-workers switch to SWE, also had one come to operations from development. He just liked the work better, was really into hardware and OS stuff.

My advice for a long time has been to have some kind of "domain knowledge" beyond programming. You need to be an expert or at least competent in some field other than programming, whether it's banking or biology or law etc. Operations is just a very software-adjacent domain that's usually easy for CS types to get into. (It's often looked down on by "real" programmers nevermind it's a webshitter who can't deploy anything that isn't dockerized)

>digital cameras are such a technological dead end that Kodak brought back Ektachrome and swung some deal with Alaris and is now offering more film direct to stills consumers and Pentax and Lomo are putting out film cameras again
I guess it shouldn't be a shocker when every "blockbuster" movie looks like ass now because it was shot on digital
>what should I buy
It's like guns 30+ years ago. There's enough stuff on the used market that I'd just go buy a nikon or a canon from the 80s or 90s. There are a bunch of cameras with hipster tax on them, like how kar98ks and garands were over priced compared to thirdie country guns, but generally anything that's mostly electronic like those 90s SLRs are free from hispter tax because hipsters generally want

Being shot on digital has very little to do with why blockbuster movies all look the same and why they are all aids. Film grain is not a panacea for bad work.

>Not sure what private trackers are all about?
Private trackers are not secret clubs. They are exclusive clubs. They exist to create well seeded and properly curated selections of high quality media. Also to make freeloaders seethe and shill shitty Android apps that don't work without paying to pirate.

Why do shitty slop Linux distributions garner so much attention? Ubuntu-slop distros in particular. Shit like Zorin OS, who the fuck is it made for? "new users", as if there is any person who cannot use the a fucking computer unless it has a retarded ass GNOME theme which is designed to specifically mimic Windows 7. If I wanted a Linux to run Linux but also be copying the layout of an out-of-date version of another operating system, I'd run Red Star OS. Or Pop!_OS (stupid name btw), which ships out broken software, is recommended endlessly for including proprietary NVIDIA drivers in the .ISO file. Elementary OS, which is designed has some weird, ugly, iOS 6/Mac OS X Mavericks imitation aesthetic being enforced. And god fucking forbid KDE Neon. This shit is why Windows will never die, no matter how cripplingly unusable, slow, and expensive it becomes. If someone becomes interested in Linux, that is the kind of shit that gets thrown at them, that and Ubuntu itself which shoves advertisements in the fucking terminal. But instead of people being directed to an actual good, usable, friendly distribution (pic related), they are instead fed slop and then blamed for having a terrible experience.

I was going to quote all the shit trackballs in here, but 100% of them are SHIT.
Fuck you fucking thumb-ball fuckers, you ruined trackballs forever.
This is the only good style of trackball - "over shoulder" trackball gives you both precision and speed. I've drawn AND gamed on that fucker. Sniper.
Fuck your shitty thumb-balls, fuck your shitty symmetry-balls, over-shoulder or jump over a bridge.

>>
>>108499580
This trackball almost has good design. The scroll wheel on top is great, although if the design was better it would be a little closer to the ball. But then they only put one button for pinky and ring, which is full retard as far as I'm concerned, and a lot of the buttons look like shit to use.
>>
>>108499626
It was perfectly comfortable to use, dreamy even.
Definitely agree on lack of buttons on the right side though. And thumb side.
All buttons were remappable as well, which made it so much better.
I used Autohotkey in the middle to make those buttons context-aware and set their trigger keys to win+f13 keys onwards

I've wanted to make a modern version of it but I'm also a lazy fuck.
Specifically one thing I would get rid of is WIRELESS SHITE. Fuck wireless.
