So modern titles with shitty TAA enforced look bad at 1080p solely because of TAA and look good with DLSS at 1440p+ becasue the base 1080p they rely on is with TAA disabled and the convolutional autoencoder simply does a better job than TAA could ever do at anti aliasing and resolving that "dither" like pattern which is present due to developers working around TAA.The solution for 1080p is to force disable TAA to be as smooth but not as clean unfortunately.DLSS simply works with a very smooth image as a base.

Are OLED monitors still a meme?
>>103192061depends on how much you pay or if you're even interested in a bit darker blacks or whatever
>>103192061it never was
>>103192061Always.But if you insist on 1440p 2160p I guess they have the lowest response time as such panels with decent response time are already as expensive as an OLED one.And at that price point you're already wasting and shitting money so might as well get one?Unfortunately cheap 1440p IPS displays are a total meme as well, almost none come with sRGB clamp, they all have ridiculously bad g2g times and other flaws. So we live in a strange situation where the cheapest 1080p and the most expensive OLED are the only viable monitors.
Best 1440p VA 144Hz (or 160Hz) monitor?>VAI want the contrast ratio but I'm too poor for OLED
>>103192108Just put some vaseline over your current monitor and you have the VA experience.
Corsair, NZXT, Super Flower or FSP for a PSU? 1k-1.2k watts if that impacts the brand you'd recommend. Looking to spend around $150-200.
>>103192112If I wanted an opaque sheen across my monitor, I'd buy IPS for the backlight bleed and panel glow
>>103192120truly the only fix for this is an oled monitor every 18 months
>>103192120You do not see backlight bleed at all. (unless it's a defect). The problem is that in total darkness say next to an OLED you will notice that darkest darks, are grayish in comparison. In absence of the OLED you will adjust to the IPS darks.Solution 1You can mitigate it a lot by buying one of those rare 1500:1 contrast IPS panels.Solution 2Remove the matte coating, it will instantly give an effective higher contrast perception, oled panels already come with glossy displays so that's why they look more unique. Also removing matte coating gives you objectively higher contrast ratio at all light conditions.Solution 3 (if you play in daylight)Craft a monitor hood.

>>103194317I remember reading that OLED has issues at extremely low brightness because the pixel response at very low level varies wildly (as in, the same voltage can produce significantly different brightness outputs on different pixels). In addition to that I think there was a separate problem, namely that while OLED is extremely fast to respond when it's lit to any level, it's actually quite slow to wake up from being completely off. I know at least some of the earlier VR headsets which used OLED screens had to contend with these issues and in some cases you'd get dots or splotches on the image in very dark scenes due to the uneven brightness response or that manufacturers would just raise the black level somewhat in order to avoid the problematic very dark or completely off areas.I know my OLED phone at the very least has the slow response time on black problem, because it's actually visible when scrolling black elements on certain dark grey backgrounds or something.I imagine whatever is going on with the monitor is related, maybe the monitor is doing some image processing to raise the black level in motion in order to avoid black smearing but when the image is static this processing doesn't happen since a static image obviously cannot smear.
