Why wouldn't something like pic related work fine as a "do everything" gun for a person living in the densely forested hills of Appalachia, where the power and ballistic advantage of a rifle simply isn't necessary?
>plinking will be good fun with the naturally subsonic .45
>definitely suitable for home defense
>easy enough to fit in a backpack, or take the can off and carry it on your person
>get some .45 Super for killing deer or hogs, or mess around with round ball loadings for taking small game or for pest control
Yes, it's true that rifles can be had for dirt cheap these days. And it's also true that there is no real reason to limit yourself to just one gun, especially a handgun. But in an autistic min-max fantasy where you literally can only own one gun and it has to be able to be carried 24/7/365, does a suppressed .45 automatic make sense? The only real downside I see here is that this is not the best option for summertime concealed carry in hot climates.

Hello everybody, Bonkanon here. Today we'll be making a morning star from exotic African hardwoods.

Most of the materials are in picrel. Wenge for the head and shaft (hehe), a piece of black-and-white ebony for the handle, and some African Blackwood for handle accents & pommel.

Yeah, it's just tedious. I really want to try the cupped type of carbide insert that >>64746388
mentioned. That should give a positive rake to the cutting edge which would give a more knife-like cut, closer to HSS.

Something else I want to try is to deliberately create that rough splintery grain texture and then fill it in with a contrasting color--maybe a pigmented grain filler or dyed epoxy--and then go back and scrape or sand it smooth. That might look interesting.

What tools for self defense would you recommend for someone in Europe to have when shit goes down. There are black powder revolvers shotguns and rifles, but you can't buy them everywhere in Europe. There are crossbows and bows but what is really their capacity to defend, and of course air rifles, in some countries they are unrestricted in some countries they are cucked and they are a hassle to have around in the case of an emergency. Better yet what should everybody own, not just weapons, in case they want to survive more than 72 hours.

You've heard of FRTs, but what's a "super safety"?
>uses the safety to force the reset of the trigger
>allows for way more trigger options (you just have to trim two places)
>invented by Tim Hoffman (https://hoffmantactical.com)
>gifted to the world to freely 3D print
>enterprising people now selling super safeties made of steel (recommend at least 4140)
>cheaper than an FRT ($90-$150)
>originally a 3-position cross-bolt safety
>left is safe, right is semi, middle is super
>3-position 90° super safety selectors are now available

NTA but the more common it is the better in my opinion
and an FRT will still look better to most people than a full on machine gun, i already know several people in ban states with FRTs but none of them would dare make a machine gun

Fucking Kiloguns is using ~$100 in parts to do three position AK FRT installs, charging $550, and he admitted that they lock/bind up if you pull the trigger hard. When I pressed him on that he claimed that a system which doesn't require some feathering is an actual machine gun so that it is actually a feature as opposed to a bug that his $550 three position AK FRT installs will bind because that way they stay legal!

The fact that I can play super cautious taking shots and tossing grenades around cover OR just slide and air dash into point-blank with a shotgun and magnum is great.

>>
>>64738144
It doesn't help that pretty much everything you go up against is something that a far-right schizo conspiracy is based around.
>>
>>64745491
What the fuck are you actually talking about, Swat 4 had nothing like what you describe and presentation wise it had a big, thick layer between the reality of a situation and what you actually see. The domestic terrorists who wanted to bomb a hotel because they didn't want a corporation owning a historical building. The anti-abortion activists shooting up a stem cell research lab. And all the goons wearing hockey masks and reused cartoony faces. The maps had good environmental design but SWAT4 clearly had a shitload of generic bad guys with no depth whatsoever.

What does "doing something with it" even fucking mean. Doing what, cutscenes of judge crying?
>>
>>64733831
Daily reminder it is entirely possible to do a non lethal takedown playthrough of SWAT4 using 9mm FMJ.

I shot one not too long ago and was surprised to find it was a SAO internal hammer instead of a striker. I wonder if that makes it easier for the slide to rack somehow.
>>64745792
Because it's designed for arthritic women to be able to load and it's got those tabs on the side of the follower like a Ruger Mark IV.
>>
>>64748757
But why can't arthritic women just load 8 rounds into a 15 round mag?
>>
>>64748757
>I wonder if that makes it easier for the slide to rack somehow.
Yes it does, since the hammer is always cocked that's one less thing to resist when racking. And the geometry of the slide and hammer can be adjusted so that cocking the hammer provides most of the necessary resistance to the slide when firing, using the hammer itself as a sort of lever-delay system. This is handy because the slide has the least amount of leverage at the start of the cycle where you want the most resistance, and increasing leverage towards the end of the cycle where you a little more margin for error for reliability. This is a common thing to do when tuning a 1911, the amount of bevel on the bottom of the firing pin plate has a huge impact on what recoil spring you need.
>>
>>64748929
The Shield EZ magazine has finger tabs that protrude outside the magazine tube (like you commonly see on .22's) that you can pull down to make it even easier to get cartridges into the magazine. Doing that with a double stack magazine would make it even wider and unwieldy for grandma's arthritic hands.
>>
>>64749005
Meaning it's MUCH easier to load 8 rounds into the Shield EZ's magazine than it is to load 8 rounds into a normal high-cap double stack magazine. It really does handle as easily as a .22 pistol, but shoots 9mm. And even then the recoil is soft as fuck. It really is an amazing bit of engineering.
