From experience, ~90% of women in the military are a detriment worse than dead weight, and 10% are very effective hard chargers.
If a woman voluntarily signs up for a difficult job and she makes it past all the selection filtering, she's going to be good to go. Any job where there is a high and gender neutral standard and the women make it will normally filter out the shitty ones. A long selection pipeline gives them opportunity to get bored/stressed and quit. Those that don't are respectable.

The overwhelming majority of women slink into whatever the easiest, safest job available is and even then they have a high rate of malingering including intentionally getting pregnant to get out of danger if it looks like they might actually go anywhere near a combat zone.
These women are disruptive, materially wasteful (jesus christ they waste so much water), and in combat totally unreliable. They attention whore in photos especially when put into some PR role where gucci gear is piled onto them.

Is now a good time to join the US military? I'm on the fence... but I also don't have anything going on as a civilian.

Any branch/job recs? I feel kinda burnt out on life, maybe a change of pace would be nice. I don't really care for the current admin but it's just a job.

Yes, pick anything aside from combat arms, the lifehack is to pick a good POG job that will give you skills to get a good job once you leave the military, don’t listen to the chink and russian glowies from /pol/, believe me it will help.
>>
>>64704077
If you want to join a military that actually kills niggers, join the Ukrainian military. If you want a glorified jobs program, join the American military.

Also anyone telling you that the military made them a millionaire who gets unlimited teenage pussy won’t tell you about the many who have had their lives ruined and all the bullshit they went through. If you want control over your life and not have to listen to bullshit leadership then try to go to college. I will say trades suck ass and I have plumber friends who bitch and moan all the time. Anyways the success stories in the civilian sector beat the military 10x over and you don’t have to get vaxxed like a cattle and pledge allegiance to Israel.

So here is my glorious Century Arms AK after a fire and 4 years rusting in a scrap heap.

A couple folks i know have been watching youtube and gotten into restoration, they are competing with each other to see what is the worst one they can fix. Well i'm gonna give it a try.

As far as i can tell the lower and are fine, however all the sheet metal and most of everything else is unsalvageable. The plan is to whenever possible replace the irreparable components with items from a 'Asian parts kit' aka a Type 58.

So what is my first step, put in a 5 gallon bucket of water, dump in some Borax and hook up a battery charger?

The bolt is frozen halfway in battery, i need to unstick it to get the piston out so the rust needs to go before i can move anything.

>Not sure what you mean by the barrel being off
The gun is a few degrees bent where the barrel meets the trunnion, it clearly had something heavy fall on it.

Mostly this is archeology at this point, i'm just curious as to how much i can clean it up.

Brass hammer to the charging handle. If the receiver is pinched it's not much effort to straighten it out. It's only 14 or 12ga steel and usually only hardened at the rivet and fcg group holes.
>>
>>64707051
>usually only hardened at the rivet and fcg group holes.
Not OP but I wonder how they achieve that? Has me thinking back to gun manufacturing videos I've watched and can't remember any stamped AK ones. Probably just flame applied at holes but still curious.

Funny that a properly used kiln would see it with a better heat treat that the original.

Bolt and piston moving about a inch, bolt still stuck along to it with frozen trigger group.

4S17M also meets DEA requirements above NIJ, so it's built to a higher spec, BUT the 10x12 is really 9.25x11 with bottom corner cutouts and the SAPI M is a lot heavier than the 4403 SAPI M.
Also the 4S17M is more expensive.
>Apex were right all along and Hesco really are trash.
The guy who lies and says XSAPIs from 2008 can handle any AP threats under .50 cal? Who lied and said the 4S16 has drop protection when it's really got jack shit? Really?
>>64707141
>when even Gilliam makes plates that seem way better.
Sample size. He also changes plate specs daily. 9969 has changed specs three times in the past month. Test reports are way behind. Remember how the old 8002 ran over 44mm BFD?
>Shitting the bed and failing on the first shot vs. slightly overspec M2AP is a really big deal, IMO.
It is, I agree! Why the hell do you think I went out of my way to get 2230s?
If .300 winmag M2AP is out of rhe equation, the 4403 is fine. Big if though.
>Hesco also has a troubling history.
From five years ago and they cleaned up.
>very very rare
An anon's RMA 1155 failed against two .308 Tulammo, at 100 meters, even though that was an, as advertised, multi-hit Level IV. Bombed a third of the Level III test for an 8.3lb plate. Buff is probably getting better QC'd plates from certain companies than regular joes are. We know his 1192's were 10oz heavier, and according to him that was all ceramic! That's why the NIJ is so important. The 4403 is certed.
>>
>>64707197
> From five years ago and they cleaned up.
Not sure it looks like it. I have serious doubts about the 3801 and 3811 now.
The 4403 deserves a huge asterisk for sure.
And it's going to be interesting to see if there's any fallout from this video. Like Hesco sends Buffman a C&D or something like that.
>>
>>64707243
Well, they've got infinitely more certified ceramics than Gilliam, Militech, or RMA. I've got no problem conceding the 4S17M is a tougher plate, but 8.6lb is a hard bargain when the tougher still Protech 2230 is 7.5lb.
>3801
Will get its ass kicked by M855, and I mean badly. It's 1.95lb though.
>3811
NIJ-certified for six M80, concedly no idea on post-drop M855 until 0101.07 is in play and it gets recerted. IMO, it's just the 3810 with better PE. It's considerably more expensive.
>C&D
Last I checked, Buffman allows all mfg's a "veto" before he uploads videos, this is post-4SUS4 fallout stuff.
>>
So as an additional point, keep in mind anons that Level IV is M2AP at 2,910ft/s. The Hesco 4403 pretty conclusively fails if dropped and then shot with M2AP 80ft/s over that. Sucks, but it still meets Level IV specs and then some.
Think of it in real world circumstances. Out of an M1 Garand, M2AP loaded to WW2 spec has a velocity of 2,715ft/s. Even modern .30-06 165gr still pushes 2,800ft/s out of a 24" barrel. Buff usually uses a .300 winmag to get to NIJ velocity and then some.

At what distance and out of what gun do you reasonably anticipate getting hit by that kinda M2AP or above? Even if the above test applies to all 4403s, this ain't a panic button moment like the 4SUS4 or 4400. The 4403 still handles all reasonable CONUS threats. M993 will probably beat the fuck out of it even at standoff, and I'm leery on M995 out of a 20".

Pretty much, opium is the primary ingredient of morphine and Germany was cut off from most sources of it upon the outbreak of war. The Japanese had far more extensive access to it thanks to their conquests in Southeast Asia. I-52 was also carrying three tons of quinine (anti-malarial medication) and 54 kg in caffeine so the ship was legitimately loaded. In exchange the Germans would have loaded it with

Scar newfag here again - does anyone have any recommendations for slings? Not looking for anything crazy or tacticool (necessarily), just a solid 2 point that would be comfortable to carry it around with.
First batch of google-fu turned up BFG Vickers being well reviewed, but the mounts are really throwing me off. Would prefer something that isn't going to unduly scratch shit up.
>>
>>64707029
either spend $100 and buy pmm qd accessories plus a magpul dual qd sling. or spend $15 on a cheap Amazon sling that has clips. like pic related
>>
>>64707029
I'm using an OG VTAC sling on my L1A1 and like it. It attaches to sling loops by threading the strap back through a ladder lock, which is a silent, scratch-free and simple solution, the sling has about the right length & adjustability and I really like the quick-adjust feature.

You can find cheaper slings with the same features, and some weight + potential source of noise and scratches can be shed by choosing a simpler, plastic buckle for the quick adjust feature.

Probably needs at least a little taper crimp. If your brass is the same length as a factory loaded round you can cheat slightly. Put the factory round in the shell holder with the die backed out, then run the ram up. Then slowly lower just the body of the die till it engages against the existing taper crimp. Then put the bullet seating stem in… or seat as a separate step first.
