Its big heavy and expensive all for a gimmick that barely anyone wants and even fewer actually need. Its cool and badass and the mechanics of it are interesting but the "its interesting" market is tiny.

they probably had the machinist drill and tap it, if it didnt have some kind of standard mounting provision on top

I've been thinking about removing the charging handle off my M3 and filling in the hole in the receiver with bondo, that way it'll be safe from field conditions. The problem is that the inertial action is very sensitive to weight changes so I worry such a change would fuck up the system
>>
>>64694808
Fucked by import laws. Overly complex and heavy for the pump/auto function.
>>
>>64707901
Really had the law not fucked it it still would've been a flop based on how the LAW-12 (semi only SPAS) sold. It was just an archaic take on the modern tactical shotgun we take for granted today, rapidly rendered obsolete by the soon to be M3 and many other frankly flat out better semiautomatic shotguns that were to come

>The millitary is for people fit to fight, and it's not your recruiter's job to fix any paperwork issues you have proving your psychological fitness.
Then maybe he shouldn't tell me he's "working on it", but I'm still in the process of seeing psychs and therapists that I can't really afford just so it looks good, anyway. Of course, I don't think I need it anymore, but obviously I'm not supposed to be the one to judge that for myself. At least I'm not the only one that agrees that I've actually been doing better without medication. I guess I just need more paperwork that essentially says "he's fine he's fine he's fine he's fine he's fine he's fine he's fine he's fine he's fine he's fine, etc.", before the military actually considers that I might be fine.

you could also ve one of the many supporting mos like mechanic or medic or even the 42a fucks and keep jump status because they are in a airborne unit

>>64707936
ABN units have had to cut jump status for a bunch of POGs last year

Good or bad idea?
Got really into the modern minute man concept last year and built a rifle around it.
>18" Barrel
>69gr match points (reloading my own)
>1-8x LPVO
Great for the range and a lot of fun to shoot at paper with, but when I went to LARP with it, it wasn't what I hoped it to be. A hair below 8lbs fully loaded and long enough to catch on stuff, I realized what I thought and what I wanted were two different things.
Now, with SBRs (and Suppressors) having free tax stamps I can do different things. Shortening the barrel as much as possible to save on weight, make it handier, and save space for a can seems the way to go. 300AAC also preforms best in 10" barrels. I also realized min-maxing for targets out to 600yds was kind of stupid too, as it's a bit excessive in the dense areas I play pretend. The shorter effective range a heavier, slower 30 cal projectile would be fine, as well as a non-magnifed/fixed magnification optic to lighten my load.
Would 300AAC be the round for fantasies well I stomp around in the local national forest? I'm also interested in not having to get new mags, I acquired the loading dies in an estate sale, and I do like how well it lends itself to suppression.

They have been forever. The last "cheap" SKSs were back in like 2019 when we got a bunch of Norinco ones. Even then they were still like $300 and a poverty pony was only slightly more. The good times were a long time ago. Anyone who was under 18 in 2020, sadly, a good portion of this board, missed out completely.

yeah i mean you could get an SKS and 1000 rounds of ammo for under 100 bucks in the 90's. An SKS for under 500 dollars, regardless of country of origin, is kinda rare right now.

My favorite rifle right now is a 300 blk PSA ar. Built as a woods gun with a primary arms slx non-micro gen III with ACSS. I use 157-150 grain supersonics. Nicer recoil impulse than 5.56, and way less concussion just making it more enjoyable to shoot.

I encoded that with Handbrake. You just figure out the bitrate to get target file size since Handbrake doesn't have target file size mode for setting video bitrate.

>Bitrate calculation
>Online method
https://www.dr-lex.be/info-stuff/videocalc.html
Put in the length seconds (or if longer use 00:mm:ss since you're never encoding hours at 4mb), 3.99 megabytes and audio bitrate to 0 (or set audio tracks = 0).
Select "Video from time, size, audio"
Video bitrate just above the button, for reference it gives me 938kbps.

>Offline method
Target size (4096kb = 4mb but use 3.99 to be safe) multiply by 8. (1024x3.99=4085)x8 = 32,680. Video duration is 34 seconds. 32,680/34 = 961kbps.

So you're close enough ballpark wise that you'll be at 99% of the upload limit.
>>
>>64705314
>Aiggers Mongue Ty Znus
>>
>>64707864
Thank you anon, I didn't realise it could be so calculated precisely; I thought, for example, the videos shot at night had less bitrate due to less information being captured.
>>
>>64707930
Camera noise will inflate automatic bitrate calculation (when using crf) while it is actually destroying detail for dark/night videos (from a video/photo perspective). Just calculate for the file size limit of whatever you're uploading to if your source video is too big.

Usually most encoders will also be a little lower than the input limit but sometimes they will go a little over, which is why always aiming at 99% or whatever is better because you blow time to encode the video and being a tiny bit under is better than being unable to upload/burn to a disk.

Also two pass if you have the time since all the bitrate can be allocated to where it is needed rather than being ABR/CBR.

These movies don't even try to have internal consistency with their combat and power dynamics.

Movie 1:
Navi have superior genetics and bodies but 3 different battles demonstrate that the training and tech of humans gives them a massive advantage. In the final battle Navi get a decent surprise off but then start getting whooped, it's only when nature itself turns against the humans that the Navi win.

Movie 2:
Recoms now exist, with the the superior weapons and tactical training combined with navi genetic superiority they should be unstoppable.
No
Neyteri goes angry mom mode and kills them even easier than she did normal humans in the last movie.
Not one recom or normal human scores a kill in this entire movie outside quaritch killing jake's son.

Movie 3:
See movie 2

James Cameron is a fucking idiot.

I pitched a crossover to Grok whereby the RDA subcontracts additional corporations to assist in a takeover after the first film: Cyberdyne Systems, Tetravaal, Weyland-Yutani, Omni-Consumer Products, and a few other smaller players (Tyrell-Wallace, Mitsubishi, etc.) adding Combat Jackets (from the 'won' Mimic War) and Matrix APUs to RDA's arsenal. Skynet’s Terminators help the human operatives and there's no ReCom bullshit.

I did add the Tenctonese/Newcomers as alien allies for the humans ad well (they can operate in Pandora without breathers). It was an interesting outline.

How to "win" against america
>During initial invasion suffer 500 to 1 casualty ratios
>surrender your capital within a month
>run and hide in caves using women and children as human shields knowing your enemy cares about them more than you do
>Let america raise an entire generation of your people while you continue hiding
>wait 20 years for american to get bored and realize your civilization isn't worth saving from itself and leave
>come back to capital chimping out shooting guns into the air
>go on every internet forum and claim you defeated america
>Use this to imply goat heardes won a conventional war and therefore tech tactics and experience do not matter in war (unless china has new tech in which case it's all that matters and america is finished)

Yea I'm sure Israel would do fine without access to our bleeding edge tech, satellite network, intelligence network, constant stream of ordinance, billions spent paying off the rest of the Middle East, our 50,000 troops and dozens of bases in West Asia, depleting 25% of out THAAD stockpile and a decent portion of our SM-3 and SM-6 stockpile trying to defend them when they were getting raped by Iran, constant and unending diplomatic support to keep the rest of the world from sanctioning them out of existence, and the thousands of other things we have to do to try and prop up a rapist gang of sub human leeches so they can larp as Bronze Age Semites they have little to no genetic relationship with.

Israel would last a month, MAX, without the US.

Universal rifle that does everything you could reasonably ask of it. Durable workhorse gun for hunting and defense.
>>
>>64707554

What about a 12 gauge?
>>
>>64707892
12 gauge is a close-range firearm. Scout Rifles are close to long range, capable of doing anything from 50 yards to 500 yards and sometimes beyond.
Shotguns are fantastic for a lot of different stuff but they don't fill the same role as a Scout rifle. If you could absolutely, positively only have one gun it might actually be better to have a shotgun depending on where you live. But if you could have a rifle, but a rifle will still out-shoot it in many ways.

does chaff still work against modern radar?
28 replies and 5 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>64707565
No but if you loose the sight of the target you need to simulate the most likely position of the target so you can calculate the optimal trajectory.
Doesn't require a very complicated program. Could probably run on 8-bit.
>>
>>64707537
The re-acquire will happen very quickly if you maneuver, the seeker can pretty easily tell if it's a valid target or not when it sees the chaff cloud come to a grinding halt while a different signature is busy pulling 9 gs, right back into view of the seeker, which is gonna have a pretty decent gimbal limit and your chaff cloud is not gonna obscure that large of an area unless it's like right in front of the seeker. Sure you could potentially defeat a missile at max kinematic range that way, not saying it can't be done, but if the missile has any range left it'll still bite you. Also modern seekers use more advanced spectral and track-based methods than just doppler filtering, we can fit a ton of processing power into a smartphone, even with ruggedized equipment we can fit a lot more electronics on modern seekers.
>>
>>64706305
software differentiation doesn't change the objective, physical effect of chaff even if it becomes ineffective
what anon said is correct even if his conclusion from that isn't
>>
>>64707537
>Ackthually you puthe missile...

Yeah. No, dimwit. You put the radar threat in the post. If it happens to be a radar seeker, then yes. Otherwise, not so much.
>>
>>64706163
To answer your real question: dispensed chaff slightly increases detection times, which is real good if you're the US right now. It's real bad if you're not because it won't only be radar, it'll be the analysed composite signals of multiple insturments by man and machine. Only if it's bare chaff against bare radar of any kind from a single non-networked source (brown people places), can it do it's job.
