>Working powered exoskeletons have been real for nearly 20 years
>Working laser turrets have been real for nearly 20 years
>Working railguns have been real for nearly 20 years
>Working plasma cannons have been real for over 30 years
>Autonomous robots that understand simple commands have been around for over ten years
>People act like drones are the most advanced weapon around when we've been using them since WWII
What gives? Why is everyone still pretending that we're living the 20th century? People are so tired of waiting for these weapons that they're building the things themselves in their garages.

Wait, so you want Power armor to just be another armored vehicle? Why not just make another AFV? At least then you don't have to worry about being knocked over from recoil.
>>
>>64747288
>Make the suit bigger
yeah, let's make the suit bigger, more armored, more capa... ah shit we have an AFV. Heat engines don't scale down well, turbines are awful at scaling down due to the importance of tolerances in their operation.

The Fallout 4 power armor really is in the sweet spot.
>Small enough it can still fit in (purpose built) APCs/helis
>Large enough to carry a meaningful amount of armor/weapons that would not be practical without power armor
The fact it's basically just a frame you can slap whatever modular parts on is a good idea too.

>The tech isn't out yet.
That's a lie. The tech has been out for years. It simply isn't seeing mass adoption because of ridiculous levels of corruption and cronyism.

>>64747395
>Wait, so you want Power armor to just be another armored vehicle?
Conceptually, that's what all powered exoskeletons are, just in a smaller form factor. A suit standing between 76-84 inches would still be significantly more compact than a wiesel while needing only one operator and being able to carry fairly heavy weapons.

>>64747404
>Heat engines don't scale down well
And yet somehow motorcycles and mopeds still exist.
>>
>>64747430
>And yet somehow motorcycles and mopeds still exist.
Those engines weigh anywhere from as much as a small asian woman to as much as a lanky sunstarved software developer, and their power-to-weight ratios suck. That's without even factoring in the alternator you need into the weight. If it were as easy as shoving a motorcycle engine into a backpack someone would've done it already you tard.

What tools for self defense would you recommend for someone in Europe to have when shit goes down. There are black powder revolvers shotguns and rifles, but you can't buy them everywhere in Europe. There are crossbows and bows but what is really their capacity to defend, and of course air rifles, in some countries they are unrestricted in some countries they are cucked and they are a hassle to have around in the case of an emergency. Better yet what should everybody own, not just weapons, in case they want to survive more than 72 hours.

You guys really think you're going to war with the US don't you?
>>
I really don't understand this because that amount of ammunition in OP is never going to be enough.

You'd need so much for it to be a pragmatic amount in an apocalyptic scenario that you should really probably just commit to a single kind of ammunition and tailor your guns around that round instead of trying to just get some ammo for a bunch of different calibers.

I break my preps into categories

>Water.
Water is life. Store as much as you have the space for. FEMA guidelines are 1 gallon of water per person per day. I've got a couple of hundred gallons stored inside the house and up to another 1000 in a tank outside depending on recent weather. Even in an apartment you should be able to find space for two weeks of water.
Alongside your stored water have a means of purifying more. Boiling is an option but slow and energy dependent. Unscented bleach is an effective treatment option against bacteria and viruses but has a shelf-life of 6-12 months, powdered calcium hypochlorite (pool shock) is equally effective and lasts for a couple of years depending on how it's stored (both are ineffective against cryptosporidium). Water purification chemicals for camping (aquamira, micropur, iodine) have a longer shelf-life and depending on the chemical may work on crypto but are more expensive. Camping store water filters (e.g. Sawyer Squeeze) are convenient but most won't do anything against viruses. UV purification using either a Steripen or the SODIS method (pic rel) are arguably the best options.
>Food
If you can just buy in bulk what you normally eat day to day then that's the cheapest and most convenient option, but it's dependent on you eating a lot of shelf-stable foods like rice, pasta, oats, etc. If not, then you'll have to buy a few long-lasting foods to keep in the back of your pantry. MREs and dehydrated camping meals are great if you're going to be on the move but unnecessarily expensive if sheltering in place.
>Shelter
How do you plan to heat or light your home?
>Security
Guns obviously but also shit like reinforcing exterior doors or security film over the windows
>Medical
>Comms and information
Get a Baofeng radio, print some local maps off, etc

Learn to evaluate risk, bro.

Why wouldn't something like pic related work fine as a "do everything" gun for a person living in the densely forested hills of Appalachia, where the power and ballistic advantage of a rifle simply isn't necessary?
>plinking will be good fun with the naturally subsonic .45
>definitely suitable for home defense
>easy enough to fit in a backpack, or take the can off and carry it on your person
>get some .45 Super for killing deer or hogs, or mess around with round ball loadings for taking small game or for pest control
Yes, it's true that rifles can be had for dirt cheap these days. And it's also true that there is no real reason to limit yourself to just one gun, especially a handgun. But in an autistic min-max fantasy where you literally can only own one gun and it has to be able to be carried 24/7/365, does a suppressed .45 automatic make sense? The only real downside I see here is that this is not the best option for summertime concealed carry in hot climates.

GT used to carry ball because that's what he trained with, and I guess he thought JHP maybe hitting half an inch from where his dot is zeroed just isn't worth it. Regardless, he fucks troons so there's clearly something wrong with his judgement.

Suppressed pistols are pointless. Too big to store, too small to be effective. You can't holster them so you need a lanyard and at that point you might at well have a stock.

How effective are these guys? They look well equipped and their training is supposed to be quite good.

Russia has lost more conscripts in Ukraine in 4 years than every NATO and major NATO ally in every war they’ve fought since 1945 combined. All for a strip of border

But yeah post 3 US soldiers dying from years ago lol

>Tanegashima use cheek for contact and not shoulder because of that exact issue.
wrong on several counts. for 1, helmets were not the issue that necessitated a cheek weld nor is a cuirass, its largely the massive pauldrons (which modern armor does not have) that get in the way of a traditional stock.
More relevant though is 2, Japanese muskets simply had not progressed at all from the original Portuguese designs they were copying, as such they were stuck with an obsolete design. At the time that was the only way the japs knew to sight a rifle, basically by holding it right under your eye. and for 3, "cheek" arquebus /muskets were essentially a civilian hunting design by the 17th century, only suitable for lightweight and light recoiling guns. A western musket intended for battlefield combat are much heavier (both in general weight and in caliber). You simply cannot adequately shoot a full power war musket with a cheek weld. it'd be like taking the stock off an M14 and trying to hold it to your cheek.
For 4 what the fuck are you talking about magnets for. Modern armor isn't magnetic and I doubt super duper space armor in the future would be either. If you did have excessively bulky armor (say like the OG interceptor body armor) that did actually cover your shoulder pocket, then you can simply add an angled buttstock w/ a rubber pad to your gun.
>>
>>64745623
>civilian hunting design by the 17th century, only suitable for lightweight and light recoiling guns
Just a heads up, Japan basically didn't fight anybody for the 1600s and 1700s. Firearm development was basically banned.

The politicians don't want a strong military because a strong military leads to a military junta.

They only pay them enough to contain terrorists in Mindanao and NPA bandits in provinces but not enough to overthrow civilian rule much less kill 10,000 Chinamen a day.

The AFP on the other hand realized that coups make them turbonigger tier and prefer to stay professional and as Westernized as they can be but its hard when general promotions are all handled by these same corrupt politicians.
