How much noise does an integrally suppressed hunting rifle with subsonic ammo really make? In 12-gauge? In .410 bore? What everyday noises is it comparable to in terms of volume? Is it really like a spring air rifle?The YouTube videos I've seen with them make them seem really quiet but I don't know to what extent that's simply a matter of microphones not being able to pick up the noise properly, since even unsuppressed hunting rifles don't sound particularly loud in a lot of YouTube videos.

For contrast, top of the line subsonic 300bo out an 8" barrel bolt action was 125-131 dB peak pressure/97-101 dB-ms impulse. That's going to be about as low as it's feasible to get without getting into weirder territory like use of wipes.>In 12-gauge? So the ear is not really a good gauge, and "loudness" is quite subjective and depends on condition of the ears too. But a typical air rifle is probably going to be 90-105 and a suppressed air rifle can get down to around 70-80 dB. So a subsonic bolt with good can is similar ballpark. Compared to a suppressed air rifle using the old "10dB = 2x subjective loudness" standard it'd be somewhere between 4-16 times as loud depending on specifics of guns being compared.I'd assume bigger bore stuff is going to be closer to 140 at best based on SiCo's, so that'd be more like 60-100 times as loud.
