do you shoot your hunting ammo all year? if you're using expensive nonlead hunting ammo it's likely going to have a different zero than leaded stuff
>>
>>64621568
Good. If you can afford to play with guns, you can afford a minor increase in ammo prices until the market adjusts.

You just made that issue up. I've never heard about it before. Remember this ammo has been used since 2010, with no problems.

So I get that 3.5 inch magnums were invented to deal with high flying waterfowl due to the lead shot ban and steel being less dense so worse at range.
Why do Turkey hunters and basically only turkey hunters coopt every water fowl advancement?
turkey hunters use 3.5 inch loads, extra full chokes, red dots or fiber optic rifle like sights and tungsten shot.
Why don't they just use like a .22, .17hmr or air rifle?

>Why don't they just use like a .22
My fucking state just changed the regs this or last year to say you can't actually use .22LR on turkey anymore. Never even got the chance which sucks because I've gotten to be a pretty good shot just shooting shit tons of 22LR and doing lots of small game hunting.
>>
>>64631297
I used a .22 with a homemade suppressor to poach turkeys in the oakland hills as a boy. They were fairly used to people though so shots were at ~25 yards, same as squirrels. I live in new england now and I could just walk over to my leach field and kill them with a golf club. "Turkey shoot" isn't a saying for nothing.

I just blast the retarded birds from my moving side by side with a 12ga and breast them out where they fall. They're about as challenging and engaging to hunt as chickens would be. The last one I actually hunted was at eight yards with a compound.

I routinely have to chase these away when deer hunting and they're so stupid they'll wait until you're 10 feet away to start running. It's a miracle any survive in the wild.

>duuude gun laws are pointless because everyone with 4k worth of tools and 2 weeks of free-time can build his very own SMG (that has an effective range of 10 yards)
ok but where are you going to get the ammo?
sure, smuggling 10 rounds across the border is easier than smuggling a weapon but for a proper "protect the rights of the people"-situation you need hundreds if not thousands of rounds per gun

seems like it would make more sense to build DIY long range rifles instead of SMGs / Pistols so you can get the most out of each round
yes, you can make your own ammo with blanks and slugs but that stuff can be banned too and then its back to square 1

Ultimately this is a field of research more than engineering and crafting. Research of the means to reach the end goals. And one of the forever-problems is ammunition. It's always been a concern and it will always be a concern, to the point that both the firearms and the ammunition solutions are a gradient. Gradient of skill and tools required, motivation required and the available resources. And you just pick which works for you.

You're the whiny russian guy. I've seen you before and you always bitch about russian blanks sucking ass. I think I've told you this before, but you need to look into alternative mechanisms because clearly synthetizing materials for your needs is out of the scope of your capabilities. I'm not calling you an asshole, I'm saying that it's not something you can do. Clearly you understand methods of synthetizing BP, so do that. For primers use electrical ignition.

And for the love of god, be the inside man. I have no idea what you have available off the shelf or what is legal in your location. If you understand the local limitations then be the person who defines requirements and solutions which can be applied by locals.
>>
>>64630041
It's entirely possible to build rifles that use paper cartridges and are lethal out to a mile. If they did it in the 19th century then surely we can do it today.

>you will never succeed in making an anti-state/separatist militia keen on surpassing the state and letting the people have guns freely in any civilized part of the world

Well no, of course not. The people who even care about guns that much are in the extreme minority. The world as it stands also makes it a bad choice for the most part, anywhere awful enough to force you to make guns to change things would be bad enough to get you asylum in a country much better than the one you left could ever be if you simply escaped. I'm kind of suprised Myanmar is shaking out the way it is with armed resistance to a military junta, it may be a matter of scale.

The problem is that Mesoamerican combat was highly ritualized. The goal was not to kill the opponent, but to stun and maim him to provide captives for sacrifice. You are basically looking at an alien civilization. They did not fight to kill the opponent.

For the goal they were designed for, they were highly effective.
>>
>>64634465
They were perfectly fine for native-on-native warfare. Problems arose when they encountered the Spaniards because obsidian (aka volcanic glass) had a tendency to shatter against steel breastplates.

supposedly coal deposits are generally found in places where mines would tend to flood, so (while its properties were known) extracting the stuff wasn't really feasible until steam pumps were available to keep them drained

Eh, CZ and staccatos have their place but just aren't as popular as Glock. Glock is really the default gun in alot of ways and it's turbo reliable, so that's why a lot of guys use it because it's more on their own skill to shoot good which is what they are training for anyways. CZ and staccato just don't have the same marker share as Glock, which is fine. SIGs are dogshit though. So far off the top of my head the P320:
>is/was not drop safe(there are probably a lot of them still out there that never got the "upgrade")
>explodes, not unheard of to get SIG slide bits launched at your face due to the catastrophic force of firing a 9mm round because SIG cannot into engineering
>shoots on its own(this is the worst issue as you have no idea of knowing if your particular combo of jeet parts are safe or not)
This isn't to mention the fact that the P365, which is being forwarded as the replacement for the P320, likes to eat its own striker pin which is less of a serious issue but still very annoying and gay
>>
>>64634337
>SIGs are dogshit though.

>>64634315
Eh, close-ish.But the two brands aren't in the sa,e category. The Bundeswehr are adopting the CZ P10 as their new side arm and the Shadow 2 is the most used competition gun. Staccatos and 2011s in general are also popular in the competition scene.

Spec ops mostly run Glocks because they just work and don't weigh as much as a steel frame handgun, like a Staccato, but they all know what they are. I know a green beret and he and everyone else in his group run Glocks, but he's always entertainined running a Staccato. They are definitely much easier to shoot accurately than a Glock (hence the popularity with comp shooters), but the added weight and maintenance just doesn't warrant carrying it, given how little combat use they will likey be used in. The practical solution is to git gud with a Glock and save your vanity gun for personal use. Staccato is actually pretty brilliant in targeting PDs to run their 2011s, since before that, 2011s were really just for enthusiasts and competition shooters. Until recently, they were quite finicky too.

If you can afford the gun and can keep it cleaned and lubed well, then it makes sense for cops to carry a Staccato, since it means they can shoot it better more easily. Unlike military, it's their primary weapon, they cary way less gear, and their carry environments are a lot less harsh. Therefore, it's a lot more attractive for them.
>>
Judging by the wrists, this one is actually a man so it's not a coincidence that he's handling recoil better than the women albeit not particularly well. Like the other cos players, he tries to keep his trigger finger level with the target because that's the intuitive or most comfortable way to grasp the frame but this results in too low of a grip as the "beaver tail" isn't thick enough to accommodate. Glocks are simply a poor choice with to instruct beginners

>they added half MOA adjustments to the A4/M4 carry handle for camp perry/KD qualifications
A2 sights and A4 carry handles both have the same zero clicks. it's like 1 3/8th inch or whatever fucking weirdo shit for the front sight and half MOA for the rear sight windage. On an M16A2/A3 the elevation drum on the rear sight is 1 click per MOA 300-800 meters and on the M16A4/M4 its 300-600 meters 1/2 moa per click. The Z for zeroing is present on both the A2/A3 and the detachable carry handle and it's for zeroing a 20 inch barrel and it's 1 moa off from 300 meters.
So, 100% chance the reason they fucking did this is because the come up from 300 to 400 m is 3 moa, from 400-500m is 3.5 moa and then 500-600m is 4.5 moa. on an M4 it would be 300-400m is 3.5 moa 400-500m is 4.5 moa and 500-600m is 5.5 moa.
half an MoA wouldn't matter in combat, assuming you even switched the drum so they were 100% doing it for their KD range shooting to make it easier to hit the bulls eye at certain ranges

You're not gonna believe this but the A2's rear sight was literally stolen from a storage room at Colt by a visiting Jarhead that was part of the A2 design team. And that sight was for an LMG Colt was working on. Pure coincidence though I'm sure!

Why would you get a 300 blackout in a gun not designed around .223? Especially a lever action - just get 30-30 or 45-70.

I shoot clays like twice a year and can't be bothered with hunting anymore
>>
>>64633208
Lever action is gonna work a lot better with a suppressor due to not being a gas run system. And while I haven’t looked it up I’m gonna guess theirs probably more bullet options out their in a wider variety for 300 blackout vs 30-30 due it being the current new hot thing…. And while a 45-70 lever gun would be fun as fuck 300 blackout is significantly cheaper to load, especially for bullet prices.. also fwiw Henry’s supreme can be bought as a 223/557. As I understand it it’s essentially an ar style bolt but driven off a lever instead of a gas system. Still takes regular ar mags in both the 300 blackout and 223 version. It’s a weird bastard middle child between the two and I like the look of it.

Unpopular opinion on this board:

(From a relative close distance)

Ive tried one of those arrows here and it cutted straight through an European wooden door (meaning, heavier, massive, not made of cardboard). It got stuck because of the back part of the arrow

Lets say from close distance:
A single arrow of this kind is deathlier than a single bullet from the same distance honnestly. This blade cutts enough veins and its impact is horrific. If it hits an artery its done soon but even the veins, tissue, other shit it damages is quite sick if you ask me. It's dark here now otherwise I could show you the door with literally a vertical hole of that arrow through it.

I think a bullet will be my choice if I have to choose between being hit by a single bullet or a single arrow of this kind

Those small 80lb crossbows are very underrated. In paper they don't have that many energy. But in practice, are equivalent to the lower end medieval crossbows who were used to kill people for centuries. The fiber glass limbs combined with the razor sharp bolts makes it a very efficient weapon. But if you have money you should get an adder or even a revo 7 with the better bolts.
>>
>>64632667
Yep they are more than enough to be deadly in a vital spot, and reasonably incapacitating in most hit locations.
They are also inherently suppressed, very nice for indoors shooting.
