How would an european army look like? Which weapons, vehicles, gear and doctrine would they use? And how would their logistic chain and administration work?
>>64643234A transnational army is against national sovereignty. If Spain wants to ally itself with another nation, the army can be sent there. But there is no need to lend our forces to a transnational entity.
>>64643241National sovereignty is an outdated concept. Europe needs liberal supranational unity.

The Interwar years are of particular interest to me so I'll def be checking those out.https://findingaids.hagley.org/repositories/3/resources/980Francis Bannerman Son was a major purveyor of military goods to sportsmen and collectors in New York City over three generations. The Francis Bannerman Son records demonstrate the operation of a small family business and a lack of formal structure. They document Bannerman's purchase of military goods from state and federal arsenals and their resale to individuals, with other regular purchases of arms and military antiques made on buying trips to Europe. The bulk of the collection consists of over 143 bound volumes of order books and outbound letters, and correspondence of incoming letters containing customer orders and inquiries. This collection would be useful to researchers interested in the resale costs and designs of military goods, especially arms and uniforms, as well as family-run small business performance and operations.

FCAS is clearly dead, there will be no shared plane. France is able to develop it's own plane, Germany is not. That leaves the question, does Germany back down? Do they enlist the US/France/UK to build vital components? What other methods can they do to produce a future fighter?
>>64628763This. Despite Germany only joining late to the F-35 club they’re allowed to make the fuselage. Best case scenario is just asking the US, agree on local production and call it a day. If you want to develop something domestic you can also ask the US like Korea did.
>>64625813>and they are notorious for inflating their "pre-orders" to get more workload for their industry and then bailing out on real buysFunny because that is what France did with the A400. On top of that they also used the promise of more orders to strongarm production shutdowns in germany and then cancelled their orders
>>64642841>Despite Germany only joining late to the F-35 club they’re allowed to make the fuselage.Wait, whut?
>>64643180(me)I checked. You are correct. Huh.
>>64626779>Germany and France make a different plane but otherwise share the other aspects of FCASHonestly doesn't sound like that bad an idea if they can work it out. Say Germany makes a fighter bomber, France makes a carrier capable fighter, and Spain provides the sensors, countermeasures, communications, etc for both aircraft that would then allow both to talk to each other and any autonomous wingmen or drones, share sensor data and whatever else. The two planes might even share common parts a bit like the variants of the F-35 do to simply logistics.
Thoughts about motorcycle dragoons/cavalry?
>>64642554Wdym? They look like foam play mats to me
>>64627393Motorcycle dragoons makes sense if you can make the bikes quiet enough. Sneak around, set up 1-5 man ambushes, hit the enemy, use the bikes to scatter before they call in drones or artillery, and then restock from the bike's cargo rack. Also good for offroad anti-insurgent patrols since you can cover more ground as 10 men in bikes rather than 10 men in an APC. The bad part is that it's useless for assaulting a position because of the complete lack of armor. One MG nest can wipe an entire platoon if they're dumb enough to charge.
>>64627482More like they were being used as anti-tank QRF. As soon as you hear about a tank push you send out two guys with bikes and ATGMs.
>>64627672Then the Bike is still better since losing 1 man is better than losing 10. >>64627715Ukraine did. https://en.defence-ua.com/industries/dnepr_motorcycles_equipped_with_atgms_to_help_to_destroy_russias_tanks-3512.htmlRather than rushing the enemy, Ukraine used bikes to set up ambushes.

Thinking about a 1911 for my first gun. Is Rock Island a good choice (budget is my chief concern)? Also should I go with 45 or 9mm?
>>64642460I always find 45s out of a steel 1911 a lot more comfortable that 9 out of a polymer gun
>>64642728>>64642807>>64642837Thank you, anons. Is there anything modern in .45/10mm that's basically the modern equivalent of a 1911 or is a reasonable quality 1911 just the apex of semi-autos?
Would you buy a Springfield Garrison for $490?
>>64642859>is a reasonable quality 1911 just the apex of semi-autos?yeah basically. There is side grades like tuned up DA/SA (or with SAO conversions) guns like P226/92X Performance/Shadow 2/Shadow 2 clones but they aren't as good as a 1911/2011. >10mm 1911these things are extremely finicky, I would stick to .45 ACP and .45 Super
>>64643124I didn't say 10mm 1911, just 10mm chambered gun that happens to approach 1911 quality. Someone mentioned a CZ75.

The slide is "shitty potmetal", that is, a zinc alloy. There are concerns about the slide deteriorating over time with wear. Pure zinc can be corrosive just with the air and thus needs plating; the zinc alloy used hasn't (according to some) been out long enough to see how it may corrode over the years.Anecdotal reports from users claim that it tends to be picky with ammo. CCI Mini Mag seems to be best choice for most (again, anecdotally).Bottom line, it's a much cheaper way to have a PPK/S to have fun plinking with, but perhaps don't expect it to be a heirloom to be passed down the generations.

What does /k/ think about punch daggers?I box and have no knife training, would this be better or is a regular knife / training just far better?
>>64641278I'm not familiar that specific interview, but I'm sure anyone that was in 1-75th at the time and that remembers Shrek could confirm it. Shrek was a just a new private nobody at the time. I don't get the whole thing about Shrek hurting his foot, getting trucked off to an aid station, and that was the end of it what makes it so unbelievable?
>>64642331That's all well and good, but the point remains that it's both kinesthetically and ergonomically easier to stab or slash from a grapple than it is to straight punch. If I *need* a knife, I want MORE knife that I can slash with. Thus, punch daggers aren't it. Fights do not conform to your fighting style, they unfold in seconds, spill out in ways you absolutely weren't planning. One moment you're up, next thing you know you're on one knee getting grappled down, or knocked down in a gutter, or pinned against a wall. There are already very few situations in which a knife can be deployed as effectively as a gun. A punch knife has much fewer, with the added bonus of looking mean enough to scare the half-dozen wine aunts that will be in your jury. There's a reason why they haven't caught on really anywhere over the old reliables.
