It is a but of an outlier due to the low population, it also occurs every month or so. While the /ak/ consistently rolls into a new thread and the patch thread used to do the same.

Lol the only AR I even bother cleaning is my mk18. Fat gas port plus a can gets it to the point of not closing fully with the bolt release button after awhile. Everything else is pretty much just yoink the bcgs out, squirt with clp, shove it back in, good to go.

TeeBeeEff, the SVD attains a smidge over 1 MOA if you use that specialized ammo meant for the rifle, but that's still a greater mechanical accuracy than the M7 has, so...

If you prefer Yugo pattern for whatever reason, sure. Otherwise, no.
It's not "better" in any way you should be worrying about, the bulged trunnion was done for the purpose of rifle grenades, not longevity of the rifle being used as a rifle.

I think I'm starting to develop some sort of anxiety the more that I go through these. I click on some video clip that has a mundane title and find it to be an assortment of clips that include a Hellcat landing on a carrier with half a wing missing, then a combat report with a name like "No.73616 #2/76" has an account of heroism the likes I've never seen. The sheer mass of stuff thats out there waiting to be seen, hidden behind droll titles and pages of otherwise uninteresting documents, not to mention the huge quantity of stuff thats NOT uploaded. So much is there but every document or collection I pass by I wonder if I'm missing somrthing incredible

Guys, I'm stumped on a suppressor, and I could use some random strangers' opinions.
I'm looking for 3-lug and DT, classic-looking (longish and smoothish), full auto capable, and something I can also use with a 9mm handgun occasionally. Price isn't a major concern and I don't particularly need it to be modular.
Top contenders are (no particular order):
>Obsidian 9 (everywhere here locally and cheap, but not particularly good looking)
>Wolfman (seems good all around, better sound performance than Obsidian)
>Sidewinder m2 (good looking, but need to do more research)
>Mojave 9 (light weight, reduced back flow of gasses, but don't like the cleaning aspect with non-removable baffels, or the full auto with subsonic only)

>>
>>64768091
Right, this is the core question. I have nothing inherent against buying cheaper clones (or even improvements) if they perform, and it's plenty of foreign players produce extremely high quality stuff but without the US MIC bullshit markup. But implementation details matter a lot for a holo sight and I wouldn't get something crap JUST to save money because they're still more expensive then a basic red dot, so if I purely wanted something budget I wouldn't go with one in the first place.

I rather like the phrase that newspapers occasionally used circa 1945-1946: "the cosmic bomb". Ditto for the period before "cruise missile" became standard and you saw terms like "robot bomb" being applied to the V1 (and somewhat amusingly, the USAAF originally called cruise missiles "drones" before briefly switching to "pilotless bombers")

>>64765491
20ga minishell slugs and buckshot loads for survival/hunting. Can carry more ammo for less weight and essentially the same effect as a 12. Bird shot would still need to be fullsize to get adequate throw and spread. Would save a lb off the gun and double the ammo you could take.

>22wmr
These already got wildly popular. Where you been? There's 30rd 22 mag semi autos rn. I don't think realistically you could do much better. ARs are available in the round too. What id really like to see is more guns in 17 WSM like Franklin Armory put out as a middle finger to WMAs/ game laws specifically made so people can only hunt using shitty boomer rifles/cartridges. Love what they're doing there and I think it's a great idea. Nice for some restricted countries too.
>>
>>64765491

I use 22 mag in my backup pocket revolver for around the house. Rest of the family can handle it too with the low recoil.

Hello /k/, I am writing a story and would like some feedback please if my idea is feasible for a firearm.
In the story a small number of people have to start out from scratch, they have their modern theorethical knowledge but nothing else. The goal is to make a firearm that is reliable and can take down big game.
They are a couple years in, currently they can manufacture iron and low quantities high grade steel.
Current constraints are the inability to manufacture mercury fulminate or lead azide nor can they draw thin-walled brass cartridges.

My idea was they come up with an anachronistic rifle: single-shot, lever-actuated falling block action with a flintlock. .60 caliber, the barrel would be rifled, 32-inch long, for now wrought iron. Steel is used only for the mainspring and frizzen spring. For munition a paper cartridge. As far as I understand they would need to add a gas seal on the face of the block to mitigate leaks from the breech.

Could you tell me how retarded is this for a first gun for a budding civilisation that needs force multipliers against megafauna? Feel free to suggest upgrades to be implemented at the start/down the line.

I was going to add that its not great, the concept just sounded similar. It's got some good ideas to it but they are wasted
>>64766029
Yeah should have mentioned it isn't actually a great book
>>
For added context, the rifle would be used mainly for hunting, and maybe for an all hands on deck situation when something comes lumbering towards the settlement. The megafauna part was added mainly that it would be hopefully enough to annoy some larger predator enough so it would fuck off. I do not intend them to 1v1 a T-rex
>>
>>64766099
Man I need to proofread more.
>>
>>64766106
Lmao good luck writing the story in that case, you gonna post the draft? In the least anons can proofread it for you.
>>
>>64765784
>That context
>Cartridge rifles

Yeah, nah. Without at least 18th century industrial capabilities you're looking at smoothbore caplocks at the absolute best and more likely flintlocks or matchlocks.

>Current constraints are the inability to manufacture mercury fulminate or lead azide
You could go straight to smokeless. Nitric and sulfuric acids go back to the middle ages and you can get cellulose from plant starches. Or you could harvest high-cellulose fibers from some plant and subject it to nitration.

>>64766099
>The megafauna part was added mainly that it would be hopefully enough to annoy some larger predator enough so it would fuck off. I do not intend them to 1v1 a T-rex
In that case you'd probably be better off with flashbangs and poisons.

The MK IV is a way better suppressor host than a Glock 44. Always avoid tilting block designs unless you want to have to put a ton of effort into getting it to run well; if you don't care about concealability, it's a way better hunting pistol and range toy than a Glock too. I will warn you that the target pistol is a bit heavier; that's why they are extremely pleasant to shoot.
