Do the upper echelon military dudes continue to train with firearms throughout their careers, or would they be completely useless in a fight?
>>64691124Same reason they don't train the guys in the missile factory to hold the line in a firefight: if the enemy is that far into the backline then the war is already over.
>>64691064They just end up training with bigger and better firearms.
No, at that point you're an admin responsible for theater level planning or army policy as a whole. You don't need to worry about fighting the enemy yourself. You have a security detail and the more stars you have the more of a "celebrity" you are and that means your life cannot be risked. Even O3s start to get pulled away from the front depending on what job they do for their unit
>>64691064How in the fuck does anybody manage to grow eyebrows this fucking long?
>>64691064>Do the upper echelon military dudes continue to train with firearms throughout their careers,Bro im lower echelon (5 years in) and i havent touched a military firearm since basic training. But im also an airforce mechanic with no deployments.
Post gear, discuss gear.Maximalist edition. Let's go all out, just this once.Old: >>64671717
>>64708144You can ghetto-rig CAPs to any platecarrier using large velcro adhesive pads, but you'll need a better adhesive for them to be stable. Also, the cummerbund will need to be adjusted to compensate.I'd like to see CAPs become mainstream. They could very well be the difference between agonizing discomfort and no-selling a bullet.
>>64708144>flat-range-LARP-tierHave you seen or used it IRL? I doubt its anywhere near as bad as you say
>>64708162It's Rusanon, he exists over in Russia.
>>64708144What is CAPs

the seller says not to use them in self loading shotguns (pumps and semi) will they just get stuck occasionally or will it damage the extractor(s)?
>>64707809>Combination gun is great, though they tend to fall into the categories of crappy or expensive as ballschiappa make the double badger which ive always wanted to buy. they also make a more expensive version that has a wood stock and a bunch of cartridge adaptors. like I said though. I want it to be a pump action shotgun. or in the case of the shockwave, a pump action firearm
>>64707747Cricket .22 would be physically smaller than 10 shot shells and not useless like a sub caliber insert with a barrel shorter then 8"
>>64707816Shot a live round behind the boresighter. I was going to sight in a dot on a 300bo build after this one and for some reason I already thought I had switched guns so mentally I was expecting to see a dot and didn't think much of it. I have this weird feeling that one day when I'm at the range I'm gonna come across my boresighter sticking out of a tree or something.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/etWfQuB6qTk
They work good; all except the .22lr. The center to rimfire doesn't work well. If you had a red dot on the shotgun you could likely get it dialed in pretty good. The short ones don't get the bullet up to full ass but still accurate up to about 100yards or so.They cost like $30 on ebay.
>*consumes your fingers*>*lobs brass into low-earth orbit*And yet, I'd still burn down an orphanage for one.
I regret selling both of them
>>64708054Sorry but I need to know how the fuck do you accomplish that, unless you were drinking in which case I completely understand
>>64707974According to the documents I've been able to dig up from the time period, it's a fairly average automatic rifle, best comparable to the SVT-40. So in 1944 western front it'd be an above average infantry rifle and swedes would likely excel in the bulge compared to their hypothetical American counterparts
>>64708113My ideal Sneedish involvement is a rapid dash into Norway and maybe the Danish isles.
>>64708149That'd make a lot more sense but I'm imagining them participating in Overlordand the subsequent operations in France and western Germany. It doesn't make much sense but I find it funny to think of Hans and John suffering in the bulge while Sven is complaining its too hot

>>64699756Why not just get another Becker in Magnacut if you liked your Becker
>>64707938The only magnacut becker ive seen is the bk2 which is like half a pound. Plus the bk10 was great but it was a bit too big for what i needed it for given i carry other kindling processing tools.
What’s the best gun for hunting polar bears?
>>64695015Polar bears hunt and eat humans
>>64705181The only homos are the main villain, who is evil and you're supposed to hate, and his victim, who he blackmails after doing gay shit with. So not really about that, at all.
>>64706456The m1917 action is actually very robust so it can survive bubba's pissing hot handloads.
>>64693479That final audio still haunts me.
>>64695015Are you pretending to be ignorant? Polar bears are basically the only known animal that will actively hunt humans with no prior experience.>>64706439I want a rolling block in Creedmoor or Norma and I want it NOW
Im sitting here with my thumb in my ass and my dick in my hands waiting for a full size double stack .30 super carry gun to come out. Why did the faggots at s&w release a subcompact that is actually pretty nice but then also a single stack old lady gun no one wants? And even worse the old lady gun is actually really decent??? I dont want to give Rob Pincus money but i might have no other options to satiate my .32 lust
Just get a 30 luger barrel for a block or 1911 and load your own and you'll be able to mog 7.62 tok and 30sc. Should scratch the itch. It's a shame they didn't offer factory 71 and 85gr loads to market it as a tok and 5.7 mogger
>>64704820I would buy one immediately if somebody made it. I want a full sized duty pistol that's absolutely packed to the brim with 30 sc, but that's too cool so it will never happen
Why would anyone spend any money developing a gun for a cartridge that hit the market with a wet splat three years ago and has done fucking nothing since? If you want a wonky round buy a .327 magnum revolver.
>>64708106>matches 5.7 capacity in full size pistols with a smaller grip or standard 9mm sized grip>can be easily adapted to conventional browning action pistols>matches 5.7 velocity with a 75% heavier projectile >would be the double stack tok many people claim to wantVista fucked up by trying to shoehorn it into the same role as 9mm
>>64704820I've been wondering the same thing since it came out, glock 17 sized gun with a 23 round mag or whatever would go crazy. The caliber was a "flop" because they released it during covid when ammo was expensive as fuck and everyone was nervous to shoot their fucking .38 specials and .45 autos, let alone buying a new caliber that only one company produces. I'm not saying they should have postponed it but if it came out in 2025 it probably would have been a hitv
These beauties need to be shown a lot more love.
>>64708101Seems like I struck a nerve, are you Br*tish by any chance? How are you even on the internet? I thought you lot got arrested for posting online unless its pro-government propaganda?I find it doubtful you even have working internet cables after the immigrants stole all the copper in them as well. Are you Br*tish living in another nation? I may have to report you for non-patriotic messages and you will have to be extradited back to your nation of origin.
>>64708108I'm not but you're clearly here to not really further the conversation about why CTA isn't adopted for small arms.
>>64698470It’s a fascinating experimental design, but I wouldn’t call it a pretty one.
>>64708094For additional illustration for anyone who doesn't understand why I bring up 105/120mm ammo vs the 40CT having the unusually shaped sabot in regards to barrel engagement.
>>64702396>>64702687>>64702751>>64707986>>64708136To clarify: For small arms you need CTA ammo to effectively hop out of the cartridge and into the freebore/jump and the distance that it has to do that is fairly big due to the ogive of small arms ammo in contrast to >>64708094 with autocannon ammo. This is why I bring up the unusual sabot design where it is extended all the way forwards to minimize the jump in contrast to the HE rounds where having worse BC but better fill mass is acceptable because it helps with how fast the round begins to engage the rifling after it exits the chamber.I am sure someone being paid to do R&D (or multiple someones in a team) somewhere is looking at how to implement this for infantry small arms and/or it might get the juice squeezed by some government but 2025 was not that year
>MFW every time you buy a handgun, AR or box of ammo you're directly funding muh durr hunting via taxesThanks!
actually you're funding jews fucking kids in the ass
>>64706768source?
>>64705099You're welcome anon. I don't hunt myself but I support it.>>64706768FPWP, I don't need any more reminders anon
>thousands of roundsthat's always such a cope. I have thousands of rounds. it's not hard to when you're got like .22lr and .223/5.56.The guy in the article was a felon in possession so whatever, ignoring that. Why would you own like 15 ARs? I have a carbine and a 20 inch hbar. Like I understand having more than one AR. I understand having multiple carry guns for different weather, having a collection of curio and relics (even if they don't fit the ATFs definition of C&R like if an action for a new gun is cool or modern millsurp or whatever), I understand having multiple hunting rifles or shotguns for different game or having multiple target rifles or clay shotguns for different sports shooting. I don't understand having 15 copies of what is basically the same fucking AR.
>>64706404>i don't like himnot an argument
>>64706404Everyone is a felon if the government deems it so and the threshold for DV is so low in most states that pushing a hysterical woman off you can lose you your firearm rights. The law makes no distinction between circumstances of the conviction, it's a yes/no. My personal belief is that if you are not on parole, probation, or incarcerated you should have all of your rights.
>>64706404>Now go be a redditor somewhere elseHe says while posting the most r*ddit take imaginable.
>>64707107>parole, probationWhy?Historically in the US, gun rights were restored on release. Also, releasing dangerous people into the general public when they can't even be trusted with a gun seems deliberate. It feels like a way to force us to be more agreeable to gun prohibitions. Plus it would be amusing if violent criminals stopped getting short sentences and early releases because of them getting their guns back on the spot. Maybe they should be released when we can trust them with basic human rights like gun ownership.
>>64706352>I thought the ammo stockpile bait would have become ineffective after the toilet paper hoarding during covid lockdowns.you can make a big scary number on what's a reasonable amount of ammo pretty easily, especially if it's .22lr and especially since ammo doesn't take up a ton of space and rarely goes down in price
We got the Turkish Five-SeveN before GTA 6
>>64707281Apparently the shotgun underneath is garbage
>>64707308>>64707789Was there even anything patented in the fiveseven? It was a pretty normal gun other than being stretched to fit a long ass cartridge. Trade dress is different and doesn't expire.

What's the best cap and ball revolver? Are they suitable for home defence?
>>64693092>18851890 in Sweden, originals and non-gas tight cartridges only.Iirc you can only get single shot ones in Germany but that includes reproductions.
>>64705428The westlake ones are in .357, not sure about other caliber. There's some legal fuckery in the UK, maybe those Polish ones aren't UK legal or maybe there's no desire to import them, since we can have .22lr semi autos anyway there's no demand for a cap and ball .22.
>>64705402>add legal troubleInteresting work on the guns, but if you're suggesting anybody who doesn't have to should ever lean on percussion just to dodge a hypothetical legal situation, I'll have you sent to a home. Particularly when we're in the "vibes" era of the judicial system, when judges tend to do whatever they like and get away with it. That's what you should actually be concerned about. It's not like Laqueesha Ramirez Shloberg is going to give up on fucking you over for shooting a peaceful machete wielder at a protest just because you killed him with a flintlock.
>>64705584Oh god no - these things are a giant PITA and time-suck. Soooo much more elegant to blast Rastus or Muck-uh-Mud with a $109 High Point 10mm (of which I have two, also) But in those "what the fuck State am I even in" - moments when you haven't seen a road sign in an hour and can't read the side of the cruiser's door - THAT'S when I am glad I left Ohio's Shittiest at home. Stop the truck, fish the Spaghetti Revolvers out and set them on the roof of the cab. "Hi Officer! Is there a problem?!"Priceless . . .
>>64693378>just keep a loaded 6-barell gun with exposed firing caps in your pocket for reloading.
you may call mandatory military service slave labor but I call it a great first experience with guns.
>>64708024>It is. Total war doesn't mean meatgrinder warfare, but again, you're a Slav, so you could never understand that.Total war consumes soldiers as a resource to achieve military objectives. You seem to think that the US' operations in Iraq and Afghanistan are somehow representative of total war, or even more conventional warfare. The US has amazing accounts from the war in the Pacific during WW2 of what serious warfare against a credible enemy is like from an American perspective. It's a raw, inhumane consumption of human resources, whether you want to accept it or not.>If your mind is bent around nationalistic views and you assume the state represents the nation, sure, but that applies to no one in America,During peacetime, with no existential threats, i.e. not total war.Once the existence of the state is threatened, the state enforces its existence onto the nation, using all means available to it from education and propaganda to physical force and violence.>Please evolve.Go back to Red dit, you clown.>You are Ukrainian or some other flavor of Russo-Turko-Balkanoid, either physically or spiritually. Your mind is constrained by the exact same flavors of insanity that keep them caught in their bullshit loops. You are ignorant and naïve of the world around you and the pressures competition, conflict and existential threats place on both people and states.>I will, and I'll speak for my country also: Go find some random men around where you live and ask when whether they care about being perceived as feminine or not. You are so separated from reality it's laughable. >Now, do you want to waste more words?Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>64708019>No. It's because you're oceans away from any relevant threats and have not experienced any major destructive combat on your own soil practically ever because of that fact. The Brits came by just a few centuries ago to burn our capital, and we share a super-continent with all of the Latin Americans. Again, do you think it's just geography? We actively worked to guarantee our safety. Built up infrastructure and alliances, gave our corporation support at home and abroad, then made it impossible for others to attack while integrating everyone they sent and putting guns in their hands to protect our nation.Again, people like you could never understand the way Americans relate to things like war, of the failings of your simplistic ideas.>Because there have not been any such significant wars after. Because...?>Are you unaware that draft dodgers were still arrested in low numbers during Vietnam? In very low numbers, yes. Not enough for your meatgrinder warfare to work. Mere piss droplets.>Is military police performing arrests. Think, thirdie.
>>64708046>The Brits came by just a few centuries ago to burn our capital, and we share a super-continent with all of the Latin Americans. So literally nothing seriously destructive?>The day after the destruction of the White House, Rear Admiral Cockburn entered the building of the D.C. newspaper, the National Intelligencer, intending to burn it down. However, several women persuaded him not to because they were afraid the fire would spread to their neighboring houses. Cockburn wanted to destroy the newspaper because its reporters had written so negatively about him, branding him the "Ruffian". Instead, he ordered his troops to tear the building down brick by brick, and ordered all the "C" type destroyed "so that the rascals can have no further means of abusing my name".Just read this shit. You're comparing a war so civilized and non-destructive that a bunch of women can just walk up to soldiers and have them stop.>Again, do you think it's just geography? Geography is the primary reason why the US became a superpower and now manages to do what you wrote.Without the geographical advantage, the US would not have had the ability to grow into such a dominant force to begin with. It would never even have won its independence the way it did, had it not been an ocean away from the British crown and distant from European conflicts. The whole reason is the fact that it's the New World. It's a fresh start, away from the chains and wars of the old continent. Of course a European WASP-German population rose to prominence in that situation.>Because...?The Soviet Union collapsed and China is yet to, if ever, to rise.>In very low numbers, yes. Not enough for your meatgrinder warfare to work. Mere piss droplets. In a mere piss-droplet war.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>64708043>Total war consumes soldiers as a resource to achieve military objectives. It consumes all resources. It's a raw, inhumane consumption of human resources, whether you want to accept it or not.You can't speak to anything in conscription for what was essentially just a 4-year naval conflict against an enemy that could never reach our home, whose loss became assured just two years in.>During peacetime, with no existential threats, i.e. not total war.No, that's not the conditional here. An enemy appearing won't change anything I've said or validate anything you've supposed.Your state is not ours.>Go back to Red dit, you clown.I'm throwing a few dollars into a fund to promote the genetic advancement of whichever country holds Kiev at the end of this. Hopefully your descendants will benefit.>You are ignorant and naïve of the world around you and the pressures competition, conflict and existential threats place on both people and states. You're ignorant of the US' relationship with "existential threats" and of the citizenry's relationship with the state.>Go find some random men around where you live and ask when whether they care about being perceived as feminine or not.Sure, and I'll ask if they'd let themselves be talked into becoming a walking statistic by someone who thinks that's the magic word.>You're so deluded and detached from the perspective of any ordinary manComment too long. >>64708079>It consumes all resources. Are you sure you're American? The ground war in the Pacific is an excellent example of the kind of combat that total war contains in itself inherently, that's why I talked about the Pacific War. Entire units attrited to a breaking point, if not facing total casualties. That kind of meatgrinder warfare is what total war inevitably requires.>No, that's not the conditional here. An enemy appearing won't change anything I've said or validate anything you've supposed.History proves you wrong already. You can cope and hope all you want. The state will enforce its will and you will comply.>Sure, and I'll ask if they'd let themselves be talked into becoming a walking statistic by someone who thinks that's the magic word.>talked intoThe state does not talk. It ORDERS, and it uses force to enforce its orders, up to and including lethal violence. Go try this attitude of yours on the police.
