Yeah, I'm on an "adventure" kick and I am putting together an entire pre WW2 outdoors kit, so all leather and canvas. I even have a storm lantern. Right now my rifle is a K-98 (1935) and a 1911, but I'm wanting to move the date back even more. I want to move to a .45 LC pistol and either a .45 LC leaver gat or a .45-70 Sharps or Springfield or other retardedly long single shot.
I just don't want to get a No. 3 and find out something bad about it after I get it.

The Korean government was hilariously corrupt before and after the war. Further, a bunch of peasants seeing a random American wander around, with many more Nork soldiers who would probably punish them for not giving up the guy would logically give up the guy. This isn't the same as Chinese partisans helping Doolittle raiders escape Japanese soldiers looking for them at enormous cost to themselves just to give Japan a fuck you.
>>
>>64694018
it is the job of an officer to inspire and motivate his men, not sit in some bunker 200km behind the frontline. imagine the morale boost you would get from a 4 star general being in the trench with you and suffering the same conditions as you. in turn the general wouldnt be so quick to sacrifice the lives of his men if he were among them.

North Korea was literally better off than the South until the latter started seriously reforming and slowly turning from a military dictatorship into a democracy in the late 70's to 80's.
>>
>>64699193
no it's not, the officer's job is to plan and execute operations to win the fucking war
a 4-star should be in a bunker way in the rear doing that shit instead of trying to motivate a single platoon on the front lines

Im looking at finally upgrading my hard use/bushcraft knife. I have a budget of around $300 and Ive used, abused, and cared for my becker BK10 for nearly a decade and it has all the wear and tear to show it. I could definitely use it for another decade, but I use it enough to justify getting something a bit better where edge retention and corrosion resistance isnt a constant battle of maintenance. Ive currently narrowed it down to two knives, the Bark River Bravo 1 in 3v, and the White river Ursus 45. Frankly if I could find the ursus 45 in 3v Id buy it in a heartbeat, I got to get my hands on one and the handle and balance feels great. My only sticking point is for $300 and a knife im gunna be using fairly hard and in some tougher environments Id prefer to have 3v steel, even if my only real justification is it soothes my autism to get the steel i want for a relatively expensive knife purchase. Any input?
>>
>>64699756
I went with the Architect AK 4.5, it looks like they still have 3V blades in stock. Blades are OEM by White River and the company is by the owners of The Knife Connection if I remember right. Coupon code”GIDEONSTACTICAL” brings a knife and sheath to just under $200 when I ordered. The downside is that it doesn’t have a convex grind.
https://architectknives.com/product/architect-ak-4-5-build-your-blade/?srsltid=AfmBOop-HNLk6W90aDJEiYaZWbg2-rWRBgm4l6FqGSPoHyL21dyoJ4ix

After researching that knife a good bit it seems to be everything I wanted. A bit stouter of a knife made in the steel i want by an OEM I know is solid. I appreciate the recommendation and I look forward to spending the next 10-20 years or more using it as my main use knife for backpacking/mountaineering.I keep a folding saw at least and usually a small hatchet with me for my backcountry trips so Im not super worried about the saber grind, its primarily a light kindling processing/general knife tasks tool. The very occasionally Ill use it for harder work than that Im sure ill have my ass covered with the 3v steel and stouter grind slope.

I think that actually solves all of the things right there.
>you can carry lots on you without needless bulk of mags
>You can quick reload no problem
>You can sell them as 5 round belts for canadian market that has 5 round limit on semis
>You can sell 30 round belts for a pump version, and they would also work with the semi one.
>Alternatively if that is an issue, you could make it so the 5 round belts are able to connect and make a longer belt.

Only issue with belts is they would be very heavy and throw off your movement or control of the weapon. So maybe some way to wrap is around the gun so it isn't hanging wildly would be an improvement.

Is there any belt shotgun in canada? I've never seen one in the wild

You're trying extremely hard to put words in my mouth and then argue against them. Are these strawmen in the room with you right now?

The tabletop rules are what's canon, because they're not subject to powerwankery (primarily from space marine authors) with varying levels of individual autist-narcissism, because the armies HAVE to be mechanically balanced against all the other factions. There is a natural regulator in the rules development that prevents one autist on the dev team from declaring his faction as the coolest and is better than everything else. 3rd edition rules are the peak and best, but whatever the rules are currently, that's the actual power level everything is, relative to each other.

Space Marines aren't walking tanks. Dreadnoughts are. Terminators have the armor that everyone *thinks* standard marines have, and even then they're still not walking tanks. And all the insane bullshit that people apply to marines, like Jedi levels of perception and whatever, only Primarchs could possibly possess that amount of ability. And even then, nah. The fuckin God Emperor couldn't do half the bullshit that are attributed to standard marines in some of the books.

Guardsmen have krak grenades, vehicles with heavy bolters and multi lasers in mechanized units, and may or may not have mortars, heavy weapons teams with heavy stubbers (M2 machine guns, apparently) and rocket launchers

The tabletop rules are there to make shit simple but in the lore they have at least WW2 levels of integral combined arms. The main exception is that you don't see a SAW equivalent in guardsman squads, but 10 guardsmen with lasguns probably mog the firepower of a modern day rifle squad quite substantially.
>>
>>64698058
>Guardsmen have krak grenades, vehicles with heavy bolters and multi lasers in mechanized units, and may or may not have mortars, heavy weapons teams with heavy stubbers (M2 machine guns, apparently) and rocket launchers
These were the arguments made:
>Lasblasts punch right through Space Marines
>There is no way a space marine could threaten five to ten guardsmen with lasrifles

So again we're just moving the goalposts lmao.

Whats the longest spear that you could theoreticaly use in a phalanx?
8 replies omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>64694444
Dunno about a phalanx but the Irish rebellion of 1798 used ash pikes that were 10-12 feet long and 20 feet at the extreme and the swiss guard renasiance pikes are quite long 16-18 feet. Most tap out at less than 20 feet the sarissa was an extreme that went above 20 feet but not by much 21-22 feet. The practical limit for a man therefore seems to be 20 feet and that's as part of a unit that is using it as a tactical weaponn with the support of pikemen with shorter pikes,

I could write you an essay on their use, it's far more complex that simply holding them out or thrusting, shorter pikes were drawen back and flicked out rapidly in a thrust, some had hooks or horizontal projections specifically to catch the reins or bridles or headgear of riders then they were drawn back in pulling the rider or the horse towards his fellow pikemans thrusts. Your worst nightmare as a rider is getting your horses head harness or eiigns caugt in a pike head when you are facing a line of pikemen.

It was a spectacularly savage form of warfare, several pike men could phyically elevate an opponent implaled on their pikes into the air and execute in that manner and this was often done to enourage surrender of units remaining standing.
Here's a decent overbiew of renassiance pike drill

Nobody will care unless you're being a massive twat. Repeaters are local, so the owner can change the pl code until you guess it again. Even if you were outrageously harmful, people would just change repeaters or get on shortwave. In massive cities, you have hundreds of retards kerchunking repeaters regularly. The key word here is commentary.
While the Ziggers do frequently try to capture ground using stealthy infiltration with exceptionally small units, sometimes as small as just a pair of two guys, these attempts are almost always unsuccessful and just as likely to get them killed as the meat-wave assaults.
The meat-wave assaults are STILL the main tactic employed by the pidoruskies.

>While the Ziggers do frequently try to capture ground using stealthy infiltration with exceptionally small units, sometimes as small as just a pair of two guys, these attempts are almost always unsuccessful and just as likely to get them killed as the meat-wave assaults.
You dont understand the doctrine.

Its a drip-drip-drip approach whereby small infiltrations happen over time and 2 guys become 4 who become 8 and so on until there are enough guys to dominate that ground. In many sections of the front there is no front, its just a grey-zone. The tactic works in that it does result in gains and its better because it results in less meat-cubes. They are currently trying to adopt it army wide, obviously though they are incompetent retards so you still get the classic "entire platoon dies outside a farmers cellar" and other hilarious events.

My prior posts were more generally directed at the shameless shilling and less about the general state of the Russian army or the front.
