it wastes the enemies resources
you never want to hit a decoy.
you want to see them, know they are a decoy, then communicate that it is a decoy to everybody else so that no weapons are used destroying something that isnt a target.
or so that if/when a ground invasion happens/advances to the area the decoy is in ground forces can remove the decoy so it doesnt get seen in the future and possibly being a false positive wasting even more time and money.
it is literally never a good thing to time and money destroying a decoy.
and certainly not boasting that you did so.
because it means that either you didnt know it was a decoy because you are retarded or you did and still wastes time and money blowing it up because you are a retard.

Why did older, obsolete SAM systems outperform the supposedly high-end ones? Both the THAAD and the S-400 have been major disappointments.
>>
>I stole a post from /r/NCD
This might be a self a report, but I'm bringing you with me you faggot.
>>
The whole point of IADS is each system is optimized for certain targets, THAAD and the S-400 are both anti-ballistic missile systems that get dunked on by crop dusters throwing VOGs out the window.

The issue right now is there isn't any small drone optimized systems leaving a capability gap.

That's partially true. The TAM and VCTP were more efficient to manufacture while offering pretty much the same performance as the Marder but subsequent Marder upgrades have provided more uparmoring and powertrain modernizations. The Milan-II armed VCTP was a dead horse as soon as the Falklands happened.

In the 90s there was a proposal to sell a variant to Peru and Mexico with a 30mm gun and an ATGM and much more armor. It integrated tech from the Kuka turret prototype and the cancelled Marder 2. They would have been built in Argentina by Tamse then mated with an uprated Mercedes engine and the new turret in Mexico oj the old HWK-11 lines which were themselves a reduced weight Mexico specific Marder family vehicle.

The TAMSE plant in Argentina is still maintained on a long mothball status and Mexico has a huge industry building German vehicles so some sort of Marder upgrades could still happen there but it's more likely yhat those will become secondary Lynx or Boxer assembly sites.

Any military vets here?

I just discharged last year after 8 years in the US Army. I spent 3 years in infantry (11B) stationed in a really rainy German town and got deployed to a country full of commieblocks before I applied for the Special Forces and managed not to washout of SFAS and after 2 and a half years or so I spent the rest of my time in Army as an 18B in SF. Since I did the full 8 years active I'm not IRR and pretty much a full on civilian now.

I have no idea what I want to do. Since getting out, a case worker at my local GI forum got me this job doing basic maintenance on folding machines for a laundry business, and honestly it kinda sucked, so I got a different job now working in a really cold warehouse for an online grocery store. I have little to no prior work experience outside of the military. From my service I do have experience in some building/construction, mainly basic shit like excavation and laying concrete and I've installed basic electrical wiring but I don't have any certifications in that type of stuff. I'm also bilingual, fluent in spanish and ayacucho quechua (lol) but even with all that my case worker can't get me a job that pays more than $16 an hour like shit man come on.

I'm having to live back at home with my dad and my mentally ill sister. I was going to take advantage of the GI bill and go to school but I have no fucking idea what I want to study as a career. I don't want to get a bullshit degree and reenlist and go the officer route (there's a lot of bs involved) and tbqh I don't feel like going back to the military in any degree. I have no interests other than my hobbies and no aspirations of what I want to do.

I tried looking into PMCs/PSCs and I found this website called Silent Professionals which seems kinda fishy desu. Idk man.

Anybody in a similar position?

Don't give up. You've overcome so many challenges, you won't fail at this one. Alot of Veterans I know have turned fitness coaches or coaches for Military Fitness, preparing people for SF or SOF selection. If you maybe get a degree or certificate in sports, this could be something worth looking into. I am a western European however so I don't know how easy this is for americans.

I'm working on a sci-fi universe and I want to know which spaceplane concept would be the most practical among all concepts and implementations for fighters, bombers, transports, reconnaissance, helicopters, and other military or fleet aircraft across Army, Navy, and Air Force roles. I am open to including the rule of cool as a factor in the decision

I'm trying to go for redundancy with large scale ships being the focus with smaller ships and craft being limited in their capacity and function.

Fighters
Bombers
Transports
Reconnaissance

Tugs
Corvettes
Frigates

I think we'll have to add or adjust your universe to give it that added realism, It's good you've got tugs and fusion with nuclear but like some ships might have primary engines as nuclear rocket because they aren't designed for long term travel outside of a localize area.

OP already busted his NFA cherry with the can. Plus there's a huge fucking difference between the 37 and 40mm. With the 37 all you're shooting is flares and smoke. With the 40 you can legally use all sorts of fun adapters that fire multiple shotshells at once, a bunch of 22's at the same time, (Hornet's Nest), etc.

the main problem i have with this claim is that the shitter schizo that said it has to jump to extremely contrived loops to say it happened,
ive read some 60s account on nuclear bombs and the explosions they pointed too dont match what was said overwhere i do have to give it to them those large explosion are pretty suspicious
i find it extremely hard also because kikes cant maintain shit and they would absolutely fuck up nuclear psysischs and mainteinance(oppeheimer was the pencil pusher and eistein was a fraudI but i digress

Behold, the worst tank ever made by man
257 replies and 54 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>65021220
It really isn't. Especially not in the 70s after it got a laser rangefinger and some composite armor.

Any tank that has ammunition, especially semi-combustible, lying around the fighting compartment has similar issues with ammunition fires (ie most tanks, with the Abrams as a notable exception), and sticking to the carousel mitigates a lot of the turret tossing.

It's a pretty good tank. Not the best, but far from the worst, even in its era.
>>
>>65035213
To be fair, the 115mm unitary was a good round that was just underdeveloped because the Soviets figured out APFSDS for the 100mm, the T-62 didn't get a ton of sales because it was dramatically more expensive than a T-55 and the T-72 and the 125mm came along quickly enough while not being that much more expensive than a T-62 with more upgrade potential. So R&D focused on 100mm and 125mm ammo.
>>
>>65024145
the majority of tank attrition back then was mechanical failure.
>>
>>65040559
it could be a side armor penetration ?
>>
>>65044984
it's just the camera angle, t-72 isn't that small, IIRC iraqi domestic built is a bit more spacious
