>>24944782>When you confront him, he goes into a rageIf I hint at something that might be taken as a criticism dad either growls and shuts down or flies into a rage. Then later he takes on a corny, preachy tone to talk to me about *my* rage issues. He was an alcoholic when I was younger but I didn't mind, he left me alone. After AA he turned into the most arrogant, delusional dick I ever met.

There are tons of stories where the hero has superhuman strength or toughness, are there any where the hero has superhuman speed?
Are there any books similar to elden ring, dark souls, ico and shadow of the colossus?
>>24945813I would separate out ico and shadow of the colossus from eden ring and dark souls which have completely different vibe.To me ico and shadow of the colossus are serene, lonely experiences about being naive in a complex and uncaring world.Dark souls and elden ring are more like a "metal" fans rendition of medieval knights fighting demons and the themes are more about overcoming odds and fighting against fate. For the dark souls feeling you should read berserk if you never done so.
>>24945813Knights of Dark RenownThe Mask of the SorcererVon BekWe Are All Legend
>>24942825Very mild science fantasy usually recommended by BotNS, Dune and Gormenghast fans. Light and the sequels are much better.l
I'm an NPC retard who's trying to break free from social programming. Recommend me 1 (ONE) book that will help me become smarter. It could be anything, but preferably non-fiction, with no flowery bullshit prose I won't understand on the first read, and something that deals with modern problems.
Beyond Good and Evil
>>24944759No single book will help you. Start reading and you may be helped. If you’re this gone at the moment you’ll gain nothing from starting with the greeks, you need to just form the habit of reading.
>>24944763You can't think yourself out of your condition. You have to act your way out of it.
>>24945783>completely changed who I wasCare to elaborate how? It's just that I also read it recently (out of NFU, C&P and Idiot I enjoyed this one the most), and felt that something had changed in my previously more utilitarian judgement to a more, (how can I say it?) morally concerned outlook on life? Would love to hear your thoughts.
>>24944759Here ya go. You'll be nice and individuated after this. (if you survive)
I willingly didnt return my library books after the library near me is suddenly going through unexpected renovations and its been sitting on my shelf for close to a year since i was too lazy to drive across town to another library.I was planning on returning the books when the library opens again in a couple months but at this point i'm tempted to just keep em since I've just been buying my books instead for the first time in my life instead of using the library and i'm liking my growing collection. The library books are the illiad, the odyssey, the aeneid and mythology.I wanted to have this certain set of books anyways and at this point i dont wanna pay for it.Is this wrong of me ? Who else is gonna read these old books in my crappy bumfuck town in the middle of nowhere?they probably have multiple copies anyways.
>>24945852The Iraqi saying in your picrel is a No True Scotsman fallacy. So I wouldn't worry about it, enjoy your free books fren.

Best book to understand the AI phenomenon in depth, mathematical precision, and comprehensive detail?
>>24945866Seriously though. This is where it will lead. They'll whip up some fake public consent to deny higher tech to the lower classes. But in the meantime take all this water and electrical power, when they know damn well how fusion and other ZPE devices could alleviate that waste. Just to ruin us
>>24945877This was a prompt from AI of course. No need to read it. Ask Grok what you'll think of it.
>>24945877>not recommended by the way as someone working in it)Why?
>>24945898Extremely oversaturated and overspecialized field. Meaning you will have to specialize into a subfield with a total of 20 jobs in existence that use your expertise. Its the worst discrepancy between general public expectations (AI is the future and where you make money) versus reality (AI has thousands of extremely specific specializations and none of them are hiring, one of the highest amount of grads to job opening ratios in existence)Your literature degree gives you more job security, so only go into the field out of passion. Kind of like being a writer or indie game developer. The ONLY reason I have a job at all is because I was interning at a company right when ChatGPT released and so there was a lot of investor money sloshing around. They decided to hire every intern they had working for them to pad out employee numbers to attract investors.Do yourself a favor and keep AI as a hobby and get a real job as a dentist/construction worker and have your own practice or outsourcing gig if you want to make money.I worked as a librarian for 3 years while interning into various AI company (librarian is weirdly close enough to data science so it's the closest we can get to an actual AI job)
>>24945877Masters in political science, slotted for intel work to the side of political theory hobbies. What do you know and can recommend on the future of AI integration into governance and national security?
I'm interested in a reading group focused on art books. Most you can get through your library if you can't afford them, or as PDF's from Anna'a Archive. To start with I'd like to go with Umberto Eco's On Beauty, and then On Ugliness, but I open to alternative suggestions for our starting book. The reading for the week will be posted Sunday if there are enough takersIf you want, although it's not necessary for participation, there will be linked to threads and so forth on the Criterion Club server under the visual-arts channel https://discord.gg/XhFGx57VKm
>>24945775Gombrich Story of Art should be the basics required for beginning such discussions.

>>24945834Anyone can see the text on Perseus project and get a word-for-word lexicography. As for pronouncing the words, it is easier than English in terms of phonics.

>>24945867>>24945417Somebody should write the Lady Chatterley of our day, the story of a sharp-edged and Julien Sorel-esque upwards-aspiring chud and some upper-middle class bourgeois woman who, until she meets Chud, has been completely insulated from the real world. But in the end, Chud leaves the relationship because he realizes that it wasn't his Lady Chatterley that he fell in love with but rather his attraction was the result of the fetishization of their differences in class, that he wanted her because he wanted to prove it to himself that he, the lowly, eccentric prole that he thinks of himself still, could conquer her, the archetypical icon of "normalcy" in his mind. Maybe a similar mental process could be shown on Lady Chatterley's end as well, with her realizing that she also fetishized his lower class background as something that could dispel all the falsity that surrounds her in her social life, that doing so dehumanized him despite her benevolent surface-level intentions.

And you are forgetting there are tests that don't require knowledge of any language like rotating 3D objects in your mind, repeating sequence of numbers in reverse order or the entire Raven's Matrices test.
