Only a few got knighted, sure (Order of the Hatchet, people), but this isn't some mud and blood, everything is varying shades of brown and grey slop. It's Arthuriana, and it changes and adapts as the times go on. Also, Female Knights have been a thing since 1e ffs.
>>97827668>Also, Female Knights have been a thing since 1e ffsDon't care. Femnoids are inferior. Ladyknights are gay and so are shitlibs like you for putting them in your games.
I'd sooner have ladyknights over kniggas in my games, to be honest.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. >>97829080#1, ignore the obnoxious nigger, he's probably just salty that /todd/ isn't working out the way he'd hoped.#2, space requirements are pretty necessarily only relevant for what they're used for (determining how many men abreast can use a weapon in a given space). It's a very specific statistic, hard to see what it could possibly generalize to.#3, if you want to make weapon length more combat-relevant in a realistic way, it's going to take a lot of hard work, unfortunately. You'd have to revamp melee initiative to be based on weapon length for one thing, and give bonuses/penalties to hit based on length differences, up to a point of not even letting the shorter weapon attack.

>>97829030I like them a lot. I haven't had a chance to run or pkay them yet, but I intend to run an Infernals campaign at some point. I dislike Ebon Dragon still being a Saturday morning cartoon villain, but that's the most major complaint I have.
>>97829067That would track, since it's happened every single time. First Sids/Alchs in 1e, then Infernals in 2e. I think there's something to be respected for limiting errata/extraneous releases in terms of purity of product, but not when it leaves issues unaddressed. I think 2e suffered from overuse of this (i.e. Ink Monkeys, GotMH). I wish that 3e would have designed the mainline Exalts simultaneously to break the cycle, but I understand why that wasn't possible.>>97829107Yeah, given the overhaul Infernals got, I think a chunk of people are bound to be unhappy for their own reasons either way. My group wrote off 3e a long time ago and we wouldn't go back, but I do like seeing how my old favorites make the transition. About hype, I do feel that's one thing that earlier editions were better at - selling a splat with characterful writing and by example with the charmset. 3e Charms feel too mechanically dense to have that simple switch-flipping, imagination-sparking effect, but perhaps that's just my own bias at play (3e Solars mostly did that for me initially, after all).>>97829181The weird thing is, I could swear I remember Vance or SLS mentioning they wanted to drop that interpretation of the Ebon Dragon and return to his 1e roots. The cynic in me wants to speculate that they only didn't so that they could loot the 2e charmset for ready-made ideas, but the fluff is still easy to change for your own games. I hope you have fun with them.

>>97819182"Yes. Yes, I think it is.", the rider says. The man looks at him, puzzled, then back at the tree. His body still lies there, propped up against it. "Oh.", he says. He looks back at the rider and sees the scythe in his hand; he hadn't even seen him pick it up, he was that quick with it. "Yes.", the rider says simply."Well. What now?"Without saying anything, the rider stretches out his arm. And looking in that direction - the direction his friend just left in - the man does see a light in the distance, like a ray of sun coming down through a break in the clouds. "Ah. I don't suppose you could tell me... you know, where I'm going."Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>97819194The man nods in thanks one last time to the rider, then steps away, and raises a hand in farewell. And then he turns, and sets out on the road once more; a journey he must make alone, but one that's now a little less lonely, thanks to the rider with the pale horse. The rider watches in satisfaction as the man heads towards the light. * * *After about ten paces the man stops and calls out loud enough for the rider to hear, "Those ravens are going to eat my eyes, aren't they?""I'm sorry, but yes. I'm afraid it's generally what they do.""Bugger." The man pauses. However, after a moment he shrugs, and with a lightness in his step he continues on his way. The ravens watch him go, staring at his back as it gets farther and father away. Maybe it's just curiosity, but they have the decency to wait until he's out of sight before they return to their work.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

>>97829068>Same goes for oil paint. If it's dried in and oxidised thoroughly perhaps, but while the paint is somewhat fresh? Making water able to clean off fats and oils is basically the entire point of soap's existence.
>>97829345I think if you do some stilling of yellow or pink before the next glaze you'd be happier. Also I think it looks good and is at the point where it needs the contrast of other painted parts to look "finished"
>>97829345I have this exact same model on my work table at this very moment. The 10th Edition codex shows that the tabards on Bladeguard Veterans are supposed to be black, and I'd imagine a Lieutenant leading them would follow suit. I don't like the black, though; as much of a stickler as I am for insignia, I intend to make mine off-white.The helmets and pauldron trim I intend to make gold, so I am painting them brown first. This is true for both the veterans and the Lieutenant.I like the red you have. I prefer brighter Second Edition red for my Blood Angels, so I'm going to be using a lot of Evil Sunz Scarlet and going up from there with Evil Sunz mixed into Troll Slayer Orange. The books say to use Fire Dragon Bright, but that's not bright enough for my taste.I bet once you start highlighting that nice rich red you have going on there that you're going to feel better about your choices thus far.

How high would you rank the riding skill of the average Comanche Warrior in your system of choice? Explain your answer.

>>97827828I'd run them in Runequest with the stat blocks of Praxian braves, just minus most of the magic and riding a regular horse rather than something mental like an ostrich or buffalo.Actually, I'd specifically take their stat-block from the Ostrich riders, who are a rather savage Praxian tribe, and would make a fine analogue. The Comanche were a great race of horse-lords.They came late to those ways, but I sincerely regard them as the Mongols of the Western plains.

>>97828651>how absurdity good they were with bows, horse riding, and wilderness survival. And shooting, as well. It's the one thing that annoys me about the 90's "magical Indian" trope; Indigenous Americans were insanely good sharp shooters, and by the end of the Comanches period of domination in the west, it was a pretty big part of their culture.
Post some stories about your games or campaigns. They bring along an artificial intelligence named C.L.I.E.N.T. that guides the PCs through an Android it operates called C.L.I.O.>When there is a crash, a shipping container reveals a biohazard, some sort of alien lifeform or organism that was hidden inside a cryogenic vessel; there is a nearby alien that has had its chest cavity blown through...>It turns out that the biohazard is an egg and something familiar comes out of it>Sister asks: "Is this what I think it is?">Egg hatches and a facehugger comes out; it tries to attack the PCs... meanwhile, the chestburster is hiding behind some containers>Simultaneously, the chestburster and facehugger attack the PCs, but sister is able to kill them off; it turns out that an alien species of elephant-centaurs have tried to enslave the Xenomorphs as a military asset but were contaminated by these lifeforms when their colony ship (the Skyfortress) was compromised >Sister gets told by C.L.I.O. that the "evil company" will pay her all the credits she wants if they are able to track down the colony ship and bring back more specimens in cryogenic cubes; she travels to the alien colony ship (where the aliens are big elephant-centaurs), which has been overtaken by the Xenomorphs; there are lairs and hatcheries everywhere, and sister has to fight off all the facehuggers, Xenomorph-elephant-centaurs, and chestbursters
>>97820086>Toby smartens up and decides to try the obvious: challenging tax collector to a duel, using swords>in the duel, Toby raises his shield, immediately disqualifying him and rendering him the loser>despite this, he chooses to go back to Casiel (by himself, as everyone else has been arrested), say he dealt with it, and hopefully be rewarded>Casiel thanks him and tells him to return in a week for payment>Toby does so, only to find a week later that the tax collector came to "talk to" Casiel and Casiel duelled him himself. An associate of Casiel's basically told him to fuck off and get bentAnd that was the end of that particular cast of characters because with most of them arrested and Toby failing the one very simple job he was given, they all decided to retire and make new ones
