>>97373471Don't accuse Genius the Transgression of being pretentious, it happily embraced a return to the gonzo shit of oWoD, back when nWoD was sucking itself off over how much darker and more serious it was.
>>97374095Give him a pussy that he lets Gangrels use exclusively.
>>97373366I'm forwarding this to my ST and asking him to make that guy an NPC.
>>97372658Good, I'm going to take it to the club tomorrow, so I sure hope is fun to play v4
>>97374548Why can't writers accept that a setting can be both dark and gritty while having weird and absurd elements? 40K is huge but you can't tell me the Space Wolves, Dark Eldar, and the Chaos Gods aren't gonzo. It's not like they're unserious most of the time but they're often ridiculous.
Con/Health is a conceptually boring stat that should at the very least be looked at>Don't play DNDyeah I included health retard
>>97349296>>97348470Completely nonsense just combine all stats into one stat called STAT
>>97349296Of course, dexterity represents far more than gymnastics, and may not include gymnastics at all, so it's perfectly reasonable and desirable not to combine them.

I've found from the grapevine that Jes Goodwin is soon to retire from Games WorkshopHe really is the king. His concept sketches and absolutely timeless work on mk7 Space Marines and the Eldar particularly are worthy of the highest praise. His influence will be sorely missed, though with how miniatures are often 3+ years in the pipeline before being seen on shelves, his legacy will continue.
>>97374627Isn't Mark 10 visually nearly the same thing as Mk 4 'Maximus' armour, the variant they issued and was being phased in just before the Horus Heresy? Mark 5 is less a true mark but 'what can we scrap together with these resource shortages?', Mark 6 was intended as more a specialist variant for light, stealth and recon Marines then a general replacement; and Mark 7 was more of a refinement of Mark 5+6 to compensate for flaws in the resource-starved years of the Heresy.Whilst Mark 10 combines the intended system designs of Mark 4 with the enhanced plating developed for Mark 8. It's more 'finally getting back to the design intent that was derailed by the heresy' then it is 'new thing'.

>>97373970whats the reason for mages not wearing armor in warhammer again?
>>97374926The more naked you are the greater the ability to channel magic. Source being I made this the fuck up
>>97374926Armor interferes with the flow of the winds of magic. You suffer a malus to casting spells and channeling spells in WFRP while wearing armor, based on the most protective armor. However, not for all spheres of magic. You can cast spells of the lore of beasts while wearing leather armor without a malus. And spells of the lore of metal while wearing anything metal. It's a pretty hefty malus. If your character is really good at spellcasting, he may start to just take it and wear armor regardless (and elves are really good mages). However, it shouldn't really be worth it. Unless you are a wizard ascribing to the aforementioned lores.Unfunny fun fact: your wizard is supposed to dress in a way that fits his chosen lore of magic. There is no mechanic for that, it's more flavor. But in general, what your character wears can help or hinder the flow of the winds.High Elves can eventually learn all winds of magic, so they may end up looking just wizard-like.This post will be ignored, but that anon will reply to the shitpost

>>97375232Thanks. The setting has been my primary creative outlet for a quite while now. Atm my primary goal is to get the infographics depicting the armed forces and weapons of the primary factions done, which I will hopefully manage to do within this year.
Do eugenics even make sense without race theory, 18th century taxomy, 19th century scientific racism, gene theory and that sort of stuff?
>Open drawing program to finally begin my map>Draw a coastline>Don't really like it>Move on to a more stylistic design instead, drawing a mountain mesa>Lines look like absolute shit>Close drawing programLooks like I'm not doing any worldbuilding this week!
>>97375298The Spartans (allegedly) practiced it, thousands of years before any of that, so yes.
>>97374829The big issue with eugenics is that humans mature and breed so slowly that by the time you notice the positive traits you were selecting for also has some really nasty side-effect it'll be too late to easily fix it. Though with modern gene-sequencing technology that would be less of an issue, since you could just genetically screen people to ensure the genes that lead to enhanced strength or intellect don't also cause your heart to explode when you turn 20. Though at that point you might as well not rely on random and clumsy natural mutations and just use genetic engineering to create a race of supermen (possibly to conquer the world?).>>97375067IIRC downs syndrome isn't actually a hereditary condition, but something that happens when something randomly goes wrong with early embryonic development and results in a duplicate set of chromosomes which screws up the proper development of the embryo. You could prevent people with it from being born by aborting any fetus with the syndrome, and the odds of it occurring is to some degree tied to things like the mother's age and exposure to mutagenic chemicals, but it's basically always a random chance that it occurs so you can't really remove it from the gene pool.Hereditary diabetes (as opposed to the one caused by improper diet) tends to onset relatively late, so most of the time people already had children by the times the symptoms started to show up, and when the average life-expectancy was lower the difference it made to your lifespan wasn't that great. In modern times it's easily medicated so the effect on your lifespan and ability to reproduce is minimal.

I want to have the party pick up a cursed item that turns the group against each other from withinBut how to subtly affect them without it being obvious something is wrong?
>>97372906>that turns the group against each other from withinThe item gives a typeless bonus to all attributes and a free floating feat. Watch as they tear each other apart for who gets to have itThe curse? The bonuses are fake, the item just IDs as if it hadRemember to wear a helmet
>>97372906The item draws a certain monster type to it (this isn't a property of the item itself but of the monster, so it is much harder to detect), but the item grants immunity to one of their most dangerous effects (for example, a talisman that grants immunity to ability score drain but acts as a beacon for wraiths to cross over from the negative energy plane into random nearby material locations). Alternatively, if your campaign is set in a more exotic location or somewhere where this could happen, a radiation storm seems to arrive (but is actually generated by the item), and the item grants protection from it. Or, to rip off of >>97373089, the item is loudly telepathic and announces to anyone who interacts with it that it will grant great powers (this could be anything from flying to a wish depending on your campaign) to the first person to perform a ritual using it, which can only be completed once and must be uninterrupted for several hours.
>>97373089>>97373214The inspiration for this was my friend wanted to get a birthday present for his sister, and we were in a knife store and they had this dagger polished to a mirror shine and a skull design on the handle with jewels in its eyesSo I said it's the rule of cool, definitely get her thatWell fast forward to Christmas and she regifted it back to him because she absolutely hated it and it caused a big argument, ended up causing a big blow out with the whole family airing all their dirty laundry they've been keeping bottled upYears later I bring it up and he said "yeah..my family never really recovered from that one"So I thought cool, cursed family dagger

>>97374780>3e's Elder Exalted3e has the opposite problem from 1e/2e here. Their elders and 'powerful' characters die to chargen PCs and there is nothing to challenge a meaningful party other than Storyteller fiat'ing up some unique circumstantial superbuff that would also coincidentally make whoever receives it the strongest character in the setting. It's hilarious to hear people try to justify it with 'but PCs are genius heros / PC NPC split makes it okay' without realising that regardless of it's implications on the mechanics you interface with it still destroys all tension and engagement with the system.>I'm sorry but this sounds like a story beat rather than some humiliating game-ending slight to me (especially because Exalted was never sold as "the game where you have no obstacles and are as strong as the Unconquered Sun at Essence 1"). Either the character forms a rivalry ("Grrr, Chejop, I'll ruin the Realm while you're still alive!") on the spot or they get humbled by someone more experienced and learn to take a more measured and cautious approach. If you're a tolerant player who's up for that kind of thing, that's how it sounds, yes. I intentionally described it as a scenario that I'd be happy experiencing as a player, but also one which I'm pretty sure a good chunk of otherwise decent players would riot over.
>>97375084>It's hilarious to hear people try to justify it with 'but PCs are genius heros / PC NPC split makes it okay' This got funny in essence, with the Dragon-Blooded power levels.>It is OK for Dragon-Blooded to be so close in power to celestials, since PCs are genius DBs!!!>DB NPCs use the same charms.>Oh, well...
>>97375153That's more of a problem with the power levels being smushed than it is with PC vs NPC power level divides. In Essence the power of charms got smushed up from 3e, but the higher low bound and lack of uber-high elder Essence from 1e/2e meant Dragonblood benefited most.
>>97375084The only difference in 3e is an Elder needs his own Elder party, which they already had anyway

>>97373812I'm also skeptical about SAGE "saving" fab, but to be fair it's in alpha right now, the set made for the format is releasing next month and so far, the few rares shown look impactful. On the other hand, the dedicated "guardian" set sucked massive balls and didn't help any of the guardians (except Victor which was in the best shape anyways), and most of the community think it's the worst set so far, even worse than Bright Lights.

After playing both the original Shandalar and the 2016 update version I've come to the conclusion that magic was just more fun in 1995 when it was more loose and relaxed. The kinds of decks you go up against in the 2016 version are so much more ruthless about shutting down every play you make that the only way to compete is to be an even more obnoxious dickhead and make sure they never get a chance to do anything. Every victory was bitter and spiteful in a way that I never felt with the older simpler Magic cards.
>>97356397I liked old casual yugioh because it was grindy and full of back and forth. I don't know about the meta at the time cause I never cared about it, but nowadays the game feels very one sided and boring. Cube is the only enjoyable way to play nowadays for me
>>97374781That sounds like the problem isn't modern, but the game developers.
>>97374982I mean same shit right? nostalgia for the casual game with your friends>>97375037nta but it's a bit of both. yes the devs could build all the bots with more casual, fun, themey decks. but the whole game it exists inside of being faster and less forgiving sure doesn't help.
>>97354218I wish there was a version of MtG without words; just animated pictures that did things based on what its image looks like and eventually you figure it out.
>>97375179>I mean same shit right? nostalgia for the casual game with your friendsI don't know, I don't think I would hate a format that forced the game to be slower with modern cards either, so I don't think it's pure nostalgia, I just prefer slower games
Are there any tabletop RPGs similar in style to the classic video game Baroque?
>>97367769Better in some ways, worse in others. The remake is easier on the player in a lot of ways (lots of QoL improvements, easier controls/perspective), but they also threw in some tougher challenges towards the end while also giving the player a lot more bullshit to do if they're mad enough to try and 100% the game. The remake actually gets a bit cringey at times thanks to its voice acting and how dated its art style and GFX has become, but about 20% of the designs are an improvement over their originals.
>>97364910We need a No Country For Old Men game thread
>>97367976It's all well and good to talk about QOL improvements and controls, but if I wanted to play a dungeon-exploration game based on the merit of its gameplay I wouldn't be playing Baroque in the first place. The remake absolutely butchers the aesthetic and atmosphere of the Saturn game. While those may only constitute the 'some ways' you speak of in which the original is superior, they are factors of such significance as to make the gameplay improvements irrelevant by comparison.
>>97371824iirc the remake is also kinda based on the manga too instead of the original scenario that they drafted up for the original game so elements contradict each other. I know the anon here claims that it's the point but the original Saturn release is pretty consistent in it's story.
>>97364864Troika maybe
