is there a recommended xp yield for dungeons / big encounters / whatever else at certain levels? im not sure how much to give out to maintain a modest pace
>>97382641Seems better. I don't know enough about the Bastion rules to fully guage it. Also you didn't mention what action is required for scroll initiate. Scroll master references scrolls you make with scroll adept, but scroll adept doesn't make scrolls. There's still the aforementioned element of it not quite fitting the class, but neither do genie paladins so it's not the end of the world
>>97382778fuck, thanks for the catch. scroll initiate is a magic action with calligraphy supplies.as for it not fitting the class, how so? you're crafting scrolls and building a magic library. are those not artificer things?
My players have just arrived at a new city, Eastsand City. They are working a side job for the lord of their home city. He sent a couple squads of guards to Eastsand to help with unrest and hasn't heard anything for 2 weeks. The party is investigating. They are just realizing that Eastsand City is a nightmare of bureaucracy and other things... They were fined upon entering for improperly shoed horses and non-standard size crates. Then on the way to the closest municipal building, they got fined for driving on the wrong side of the street and, upon asking why, were also fined for being too curious. They asked a clerk for a application for a magical being permit and were promptly met with a giant stack of papers. I, the DM, also plopped down a giant stack of papers.https://litter.catbox.moe/a2m5wz9hv59j6ftj.pdf>The session immediately went to hiatus as they all rifled through the various application sheets
I'm looking for duelist / flintlock-wielding girls who'd fit into a Warhammer Fantasy RPG. Sadly, it's really hard to any that don't look too anime.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!Last thread: >>97165346Resources for Newfags: https://sites.google.com/view/wbgeneral/Worldbuilding links: https://pastebin.com/JNnj79S5 (embed) (embed)https://cryptpad.fr/pad/#/2/pad/view/Eo+fK41FKVR7xDpbNO0a0N4k0YYxrmyrhX3VxnM14Ew/Fantasy map generator: https://watabou.itch.io/medieval-fantasy-city-generator/wbi/: https://discord.gg/6ZjEc7dy4TWorldbuilding Hub: https://discord.com/invite/wGjxK3YThe Writer's Forge: https://discord.com/invite/CUxHxWqTira: https://discord.com/invite/f52W6KgComment too long. >dagger deals more damage than broadswordAt what point do you decide enough is enough and you won't respect a game that won't respect historically accurate weapons?
>>97376611The system works on movie logic if you look at modern Hollywood movies being stabbed by a knife is the most fatal form of taking melee damage
>>97377212How would that ever not end up with both of them mortally wounding each other before dying?
>>97376717Don't forget that if they fail to announce a target to hit on the enemy, you can use the random hit chart rather than assume torso, meaning there's a lot more dismemberment in combat, which is also somewhat less immediately lethal, since dealing damage over what would cripple a part is wasted.
>>97377042Correct. Especially if you're a large, fire-breathing reptile.
>>97382716That's basically the point. It's that way to try and discourage two retards from doing it, unless they really despise each other to the point they might as well have a sanctioned way of killing the other. People have survived similar duels before either way.

What are some fantasy and sci-fi movies you should watch to inspire your games and players?
I would present Jigokuraku wherein a group of samurai executioners and condemned criminals are sent to a mysterious island of funky Buddhist/Taoist... monster crap in order to find a potion of immortality.

Whirling dervishes, magical orders in the middle of the desert, guuls, djinn spirits, and the like?
>>97370156Ars Magica has a splatbook called The Cradle & The Crescent which deals with middle-eastern magic through the ars magica lens. It's not particularly detailed, since it's totally different to the core european hermetic magic that the game is built for, but it's interesting enough. I played a guy whose shtick was summoning djinni and asking them to do stuff in a one-shot game and I have no idea how the rules worked, the GM handled most of the stuff under the hood.if you want more info I can try to find some.
>>97370397Very interesting! I've never looked at Ars Magica before, but I guess I shall now. Thank you!
>>97370719it's very clunky in some places, but it has something very positive for what you want. The "metaphysics" of the game is that things work how people think they work. That is, the majority belief holds true and this can vary from region to region (someone who has learned a magical practise in one region can carry it to another and use it there, but the reigning metaphysics will change). That means you can have characters from one region turn up in another and go "wow this place is strange, even the magic is weird, why are there so few djinni here? why are their mages so strange?" and have mechanical backing to that. Since world travel is difficult and slow, it's not a setting and era where people can easily compare notes and do that "unified theory of magic" thing that happens in some modern D&D games.
No.
There a few spin offs.
Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. But feel free to talk about any game you've had experience with.

>>97382556It wasn't his fault that he got the ONE security guy on shift who wasn't a rubber-stamp dispenser doing the check-in when the detention block cameras went out. That's just a GM having a chuckle.
>>97382154None. Nothing will change. Things will stay the same. It is still Disney Star Wars with the same assholes at the very top giving funding and setting mandates. It is still the current year, that is poisoned with faggotry and cuckoldism. Sequels are not going anywhere. Acolyte is not going anywhere. Their legacy will live on, and they will, without a doubt, show up in the upcoming movies. NOTHING EVER HAPPENS. The only thing I can see being different is Filoni not announcing 50 vaporware projects that are never happening, like Kennedy did.
>>97381206All of them allow you to. It's all a question of finding a DM that will run it. Age of Rebellion for the FF games is probably the best for a Stormtrooper campaign, either that or Fall of the Republic, if you want to live our your early Empire, Battlefront 2 fantasies of:>"After this planet broke off ties with the Empire following several of their Ambassadors being sent home in various states of dismemberment, Lord Vader decided it was time for a regime change!"I may be a little biased, being that i'm currently running a Stormtrooper campaign in this system, but i would say Saga Edition is probably the most... Robust (i think is the word i'm looking for) system for running a Stormtrooper campaign. Although i will warn you, it's a system that really needs a lot of house ruling to get the most out of. Like, just playing RAW is doable, but if you really know someone who knows the system inside and out who can make the most out of it.If you want to run a game using this system, i recommend going: "Y'all get minimum base starting money, but get the basic stormtrooper package at level 1. Also, all the classes that aren't Soldier get Light Armour training at level 1, as well as starting with the Armoured Defense Talent" It just makes the whole Stormtrooper experience much easier. Also, don't make every single mission "Boot to the throat of the galaxy" Stagger it. Make your boys do basic soldiering stuff as well. Clearing out pirates, assisting locals, dealing with wild animals. Remember what Frollo said:>"Stay your whip between lashes, or the old pain will dull them to the new"Yes, brutally massacring civies is fun, but too often and it stops being shocking and just becomes the norm.
>>97382677>it's a system that really needs a lot of house ruling to get the most out ofNot really, the biggest problems are I think these:>vehicle rules are shitNo different to FFG or WEG or any other system, Star Wars rpg systems have never managed to get vehicle rules right.>skills vs defensesThis problem is where skill mods are god in early game, and defenses are god in late game. The easiest fix is to change the Skill Focus so it only gives you a bonus of half your character level up to a cap of +5. Won't fix late game, but those games tend to be very rare anyway. There is also accuracy being prioritised over damage, but I don't think that's necessarily an issue because eventually you'll be mowing down nonheroic types and you don't need to do 100+ damage in one shot when the max damage you need to drop someone is 30.
>>97382677If you're using stormtrooper armour in Saga, Armoured Defense is literally unnecessary until 7th level. Because if you have proficiency, then you use armour bonus instead of heroic bonus. Armoured defense lets you choose to use heroic bonus if it is higher than armour bonus. And stormtrooper armour is a +6 armour bonus. It's one of the best light armour types in the entire game.
