>>97825763It's still kind of funny to me that Sidereals didn't get nearly as mistreated as Lunars during the First Age, and by all accounts were treated about as respectfully as a First Age Solar could treat an inferior. You would think there would be at least one or two accounts of Solar and Sidereal hubris clashing, but nope.
>>97827086Out of universe answer; Sidereals weren't part of that version of the first age, and/or the devs didn't want to stain their real golden boys.In universe answe; Sidereals are distant mentors and advisers.
>>97827086>You would think there would be at least one or two accounts of Solar and Sidereal hubris clashing, but nope. There kind of is, in this sidebar. It is describing a clash between the Sidereal and Solar hubris. Solars feel entitled to whatever they want, including Sidereal Martial Arts, while Sidereals feel entitled to respect as martial arts masters, sifu and advisor to the rulers of the world. Solars can't respect anyone so they withdraw from tutelage and stop listening to advice, and the Sidereals... well, we all know how they respond.
>>97820156clockwork servitor yeddim. pulled my merchant caravan.
>>97827136>>97827233I get the out of universe answer, I just can't help but laugh at it because it goes nowhere near explaining the in-universe answer considering how much Solars lashed out at Lunars who're supposed to be much nearer and dearer to them. The favouritism is so transparent it's laughable.I am very familiar with the sidebar, and I say to you: Just being ignored is incredibly respectful compared to, say, that poor Lunar a Solar invented an entire Charm to clobber with nearby improvised weapons. Like let me try to put this another way:There is no equivalent of what Desus did to Lilith but to a Sidereal, there is no Sidereal who got held down and raped for not ponying up the SMAs.

Given that anime and anime inspired cartoon styles have become pretty much the norm or at least incredibly common in most other forms of indie entertainment (TTRPGs, videogames, comics, animation, even miniature wargames). How comes it remains a relatively rare style to find in board games, an industry that operates almost entirely in the form of independent creators and small studios? How comes it still carries associations of being an art-style of games "for kids"? It was so strange when pic related came out seeing people "warning" others that even tho "it looks like a game for kids, it's actually quite difficult and heavy".
>>97827649Yuri shows have been in anime far longer than this american culture war bullshit so anyone seeing anything into it or trying to claim some sort of victory from it existing is just deluded.
>>97827572>Teenagers are kidsthey have never been considered children pre-industrial societies simply had child and adult, with teenagers being considered adults20th century societies hold teenagers as a distinct age group separate from either teens or adults
>>97827342How are they remotely related?
>>97827793And we ended up with idiots thinking it's ok to be a completely useless human being until you hit 40.
>>97827738>>97827016To add to that, with stuff like KDM existing for so long and being so successful, you'd think other designers would get a clue. OP's game was also highly successful. The demand seems to exist.Tho on the other hand, that one game about strippers garnered some controversy, so some puritanism certainly exists within the hobby.
>create a system>it's good>but have a huge ego and expect the system to become popular through word of mouth>do 0 PR for the system>do Pikachu face when the system tanksLiterally the story of every new indie system in the last 20 years. What's wrong with people in this industry? Does this industry only attract retards or what? It seems that way because only DND has created an official online service, while the rest believe that Internet is something secondary in the 21st century.
>>97822688Anon, with that attitude you're showing the best advice I can give you is to not start a business.
>>97821411>ragebait greentext>look in thread>full of ESLs, food analogies, and bileIt checkout.
>>97821411The problem is more complex than that. It's not just that they don't advertise, but most don't really have any place to advertise that isn't out of their price range. Instagram is the only place I ever recall seeing ads for TTRPG stuff and most of them were either D&D slop like Obojima, which ran ads for months, or they were for high profile kickstarters that had already made millions anyways like that one witch game. The only other ways to get exposure seems to be giving handjobs under the table to D&D youtubers during the brief windows where those faggots feel like making more D&D content will be bad for their career because WotC fucked up again. Unless you've already got an in with that clique, that's not going to be an option either. Likewise for any other version of "get an e-celeb/newsites/popular blog to promote the game"They could go to some indie RPG communities and servers and try to promote there, but then they're shilling in a sea of shills. If they're lucky, Indie Press Revolution might pick up their game, but those retards don't select for quality. They select for vibes and queerness. Even then, the most they'll do to promote your game is leave a stack of the books on their table amongst about a hundred other random, barely curated games. What else does that leave? DrivethruRPG? Itchio? Both of those places are infamously bad about discoverability, let alone ease of search. Putting a game up on either is best for ease of access, but the odds of anyone finding anything you make organically are slim to none. The RPG industry has been suffering with these problems for decades and no one wants to make anything better that would actually help. RPGs need something equivalent to Steam, and instead we've got some retarded storefronts and a bunch of useless niche communities.

>>97826705The World of Darkness had free publicity in the form of a bunch of popular books series in the 2000s that openly ripped ideas from the setting (like The Southern Vampire Mysteries). >>97826527This one's good but frankly the most busted shit in that book are the benefits of the Order of the Chain. At 8th level they get a 2 action activity thats basically slam down but for grapple. Except if you use a flail or a spiked chain, you upgrade successes to crits on the grapple. And then at 12th for another feat they just get to ignore crit fails on all Grapple checks. Oh and also once you have someone grabbed, if they fail to Escape they actually crit fail instead (so they cant try again until their next turn) and if they crit succeed (which would let them move away for free) it gets downgraded to a pass.Paizo really arent beating the allegations of not playtesting this shit. And it stands out even more because the other hellknight options are meh, except the one that lets you be a peeping tom.
>>97827208https://2e.aonprd.com/HellknightOrders.aspx?ID=1It's a reprint, but also a buff.
>>97826796Since at least Occult Adventures in 1e, Paizo's been piecemealing the Warlock kit and ideas to various classes. Especially once D&D5e hit, they saw the frankly overloaded class, and just decided to not do it for 2e.>Witch takes the lore of the mysterious patron that gives free powers for nothing and cantrip buffs>Kineticist takes the one-action cantrip blasts and at-will powers>Psychic takes the limited spell slot design for focus on buffing cantrips>Magus takes Pact of the Blade/Hexblade shenanigans and very limited spell slots (Bounded Spellcasting would be far more palatable a design if it was 6 slots over 4).>Summoner got Pact of the Chain and very limited spell slotsIn some ways, a good portion of 2e's lifespan was spent chasing the Warlockfags without wanting to commit to a full Warlock kit, to only mixed success. People just value the Warlock's nonsense too much to compromise on. Compare to how Artificer got split between Alchemist, Inventor, and now Runesmith and barely anyone bats an eye.>>97827208>Expecting the Lost Omens team to play the game and not wax poetic about shit no one cares abouti envy your naviety~
>>97826961>you aren't doing (the thing that makes you a warlock) but you're getting fucked with by your DIVINE patron because your powers came with a cursecmon man, I kind of see how it could be a similar fantasy but witch is still clearly the pick for a warlock and oracle's class fantasy is clearly more close to... ya know... a mythological oracle....>>97827482I mean mechanically sure I guess but that mechanical perception of a warlock basically only exists in 4th and 5th edition D&D, or things that have copied it I suppose. The basic idea of pact based arcane caster is a much more relevant comparison unless someone was specifically looking to be an eldritch blast bot IMO.

>>97827607Of course not, that card is literally the only thing keeping the deck afloat. People seldom take it to YCS these days (0.1% usage iirc), but the insane amount of bodies it can put out (which means shitting out generic cyberse toolbox monsters) is its main appeal, and it's all facilitated by march hare and backup secretary. It'd be like wanting to play dracotail after RA05 with just faimena and the cheap cards, but no lukias, phryxul and arthalion.
Is there ANY miniature wargame that isn't insanely expensive? I'm talking about things you can buy in a box and play immediately, not "print your own minis" bullshit or things where you're forced to use proxies cause official models don't exist.

I always hear about the stir this caused, and recently about how bad or redeemable it is. I'm not certain about it myself because I dabbled with 3e and then got into 5e, never paid much attention to the scene during that entire era. What does /tg/ think of the system?
>>97824276They're not. They're expanded on in the Rules Compendium, a few Dragon Magazine articles, and the Dark Sun material.
>>97826997nta The Rules Compendium came out in late 2010. Dark Sun campaign book came out in mid to late 2010, if that's even the book it's in. 4e came out in mid 2008. I found half a column in the 4e DMG, that was it. There were a couple f skills or something in the PHB that were good for wilderness.Having to wait more than two years for a book to be published, or regularly read a magazine in the hopes of stumbling across an article or two, or having to buy a setting book that also came out more than 2 years later, for something that was a core D&D feature is a dumb way of doing things. There's very little obvious wilderness rules material in the Dark Sun campaign book. There are two pages about travel and survival. Is there more?
>>97826997The word wilderness is mentioned 45 times in the guide book, disorganized as fuck, and it asks you to think about outdoor travel is as an extended skill challenge using a few paragraph example on page 79. Fuck off you know nothing retard. 3e has a huge chapter on wilderness. 5e has a chapter and multiple supplements to boot. This image is practically the extent of 4e considerations for it. You got retards like you and the anon above wondering how wilderness is even important, you're fucked.
>>978274653e may have had a huge chapter on the wilderness but that doesn't make it good. Nothing in the 3e DMG is good.
>>978262424e suffered heavily from trying to force all skill challenges to be "X successes before Y failures" complex skill checks. That works great for things like "Rogue disarms a stand monster grade trap while rest of party is fighting a battle" but doesn't really work for other types of skill challenges. They also messed up initially by scaling X and Y based on the level of the challenge rather than having them fixed based on being minion/standard/elite/solo challenges.

>>97827580SureI did all the red the same way, but the eye lenses were slightly different. In the course of all the drybrushing, the eye lenses got the same treatment. It ended up with a dark edge, transitioning to silver towards the center, which is what you want. I thin took vallejo true metallic metal sterling silver light, which is pretty much just white metallic paint. I glazed it up to get a brighter center. Then, I coated it in blood red speed paint. It maintained a bit of the metallic, but when it dries it becomes SUPER dull, so you bring it back to the glossy lens look by then giving it two coats of gloss varnish.
I still don't see why vallejo called their paint line "true metallic metal" when it's clearly not meant to be used for tmm.

Like Necromancers in DnD are not very up there because of how limited magic is, but "necromancers" can easily pull off bone armies in MtA. The Village in particular from RE8 is probably one of the most schizoid settings in the series and it's pretty great to ape for a Mage game possibly, you have everything from a haunted romanian town getting pillaged occasionally by wolfish-men, haughty almost-vampire aristocrat cannibals, etc. The real creme de la creme is when you get to the end factory and you get to witnessed man-made horrors beyond your comprehension in some dude's very twisted psychopathic attempt at freedom in transhumanism AND his descent into maniacal aspirations of power
