I'm the best close quarters fighter in House Venus, and Boy Toy was the best with guns. We weren't enough. This enemy must be out of our league, I think the best we can do is train, survive, and throw money in the general direction of the bad guys until the right hands make the right heads fall.>>97379582Mercury Lamp by far. She read your posts with great interest. Man of Florida (who is just a guest) and her are discussing werewolves right now.Uncle may appear stable but he's one irritating noise away from a frenzy, since he heard mom's wail.I'm probably handling it better than I thought, courtesy of HalfSeeingEye's readings and advice. Thank you, HalfSeeingEye.

Acras and Lìon.The Night Tribe presence though... They have a chip on their shoulder and I'd rarely call their relations with their native kin kindly. Few kind words, and the further north you get the more you get outright hostility. With all I've learned, something feels off about this entire situation. So I tend to run high-powered games with lots of homebrew and shenanigans going on in PF1e/D&D3.5e/d20 systems/etc. and I've used plenty of optional rulesets and such and tend to allow copious (some would even say insane) amounts of 3pp and alt content as long as I have a chance to review it first and it seems like it'd fit. Among other things I have used the Mythic rules for some of my games and overall I do find some of the content rather overboard even for my games. I have also granted players customized extras (that occasionally scale) before, once I called them "atavisms".I am trying to design an "add-on" system that's a bit more regular for my games instead of the random campaign specific stuff I've done for people. I'm just not entirely sure what to call this though and I was hoping you lot might have some interesting suggestions (barring making up my own word ofc). Thus far some name ideas include> atavisms> blessings> boons> awakenings (there is a 3pp system for these)> gifts> modifications/mods> templates> splats (WoD reference)> sides (eating lol)Comment too long. >>97377626Night floors is a series of "ooooh, so spooky" cut scenes. It's closet drama, it's great to read and think about how great it would be to run, but it's actually fucking dogshit, which describes 95 percent of Detwiler's output.
>>97377801It hands you a ton of tools for improvising shit to happen, weird things to investigate. And then writing ideas from there. But if you hate it so much what's your ideal KiY story, anon?

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. >>97376605>>97376625The sad truth of self-publishing on DTRPG is that there's tens of thousands of products over there, and most of them are crap. You need a better reason to look one up than "it claims to be for a system I'm interested in", or you'll spend weeks out of every year of your life reading crap. And frankly, the same applies to bringing one up over here. If you have something useful to say about it, thank you very much, share it. But if all the reason you have to discuss it is that it's just a random title that claims to be compatible with something, the overwhelming statistical probability is that it's crap.
Been working on my dungeon. Decided to make it orc-kobold-undead-kuotoa, so the players have even more factions to fuck around with. This is a sample. Thoughts on the formatting and ease of use?
>>97378009Looks okay. I'm not sure I would give away all those noises coming from other areas. Not sure how you mean to use them, but I'd place them in the rooms themselves, right at the top of each entry, for quick reference if somebody listens at the door.
>>97378009Also not sure why you refer to orcish as a "strange tongue". Chances are PCs will speak it, don't elves get orcish by default?
>>97377172As someone who once published through DTRPG?Completely agree. There are tens of thousands of products out there and most of them including mine looking back on it are crap
For some time now, I've been developing my free game, an RPG/strategy interactive fiction simulator about a Dark Lord/Lady trying to conquer/destroy a fantasy world using intrigue, corruption, dark magic, and brutal military force.I have already sought and received your help several times, for which I am grateful.I am planning another major update, focusing primarily on the endgame. Players focused on direct conquest will have new ways to find loot—portals to crazy, Lovecraftian worlds, discovering new lands, and a magical slumber to wait for the rebirth of old enemies/the emergence of new ones (and seeing how the world changes in their absence). For players more interested in the less brutal side of world domination, the options for managing the territories of our empire will be expanded. Will you allow orcs to overrun Dark Elf cities? Will schools focus on training engineers for the army and economy, or on brainwashing them into blind obedience? Furthermore, I'm expanding the Dark Lord's interactions with other characters, including available romances. Of course, new content requires testing, and since, as usual, it's highly non-linear and dependent on player decisions (plus random generation), I can't test every combination myself. That's why I'm seeking the help of testers. Here is test version - no need for download, it is playable online in the browser, no need to register or download: https://adeptus7.itch.io/playtesting

>>97377629From what Ive heard from coders, it automates tedious baby code well for applications that do a couple of tasks but you turn into a lead babysitting a junior employee/intern essentially.
>>97377686That was essentially his gripe. It saved him some time but he found out the AI doesn't truly understand what it was doing so he had to look through everything it did to locate and mend errors. Additionally, he couldn't count on the machine to keep an accurate account of what it's done so he was unable to easily verify the completion of assigment. Ultimately, the costs were outweighed by the benefits.Truthfully, I think it's theoretically possible for a machine to do the tasks he does I just don't think it will be done solely through LLMs. The machine is perfectly adequate at imitation but it lacks the solid understanding of what works and what does not so it falls short of what is required. There is an absence of logic. There is something missing and this deficiency seems to be outright ignored or at times purposefully downplayed. I don't know if a world where AI creates for us is a good one but I know until this issue is rectified it wont match us satisfactorily. Though it feels like most proponents of the tech are less interested in solving this problem and more in getting us to adopt it in the first place. Though admittedly this could be the result of the availability of examples. Maybe the people who are interested in fixing this are drowned out by tech grifters and investment bros. Who can say?

I might miss something because I'm at work but I'll try and cover everything.I'm leaning toward frogmouth design personally. The addition of the vest and pouches is a neat touch. The spheres over the shoulders are throwing me a bit, if they were perhaps a bit smaller, that would be great.Lore wise-Quintessence is a type of underlying element to all things, like the forces at play in atomic bonds. It's innately magical but not exclusive to magical beings, if you draw out all the quintessence from something which only has a finite amount you can reduce it to dust. A mage can use quintessence to make their spellcraft easier (lowering the difficulty of the 'magic' roll by 1 per point of quintessence. It can be manipulated with the 'prime' sphere, using it to create objects or in the case of my mage, weapons infused with magical energy. The 'quintessence' blade is simply put, a blade of this raw magical force. It is also used to infuse objects with magical effects either as a 1 off or as fuel that has to be reapplied.1/2
