>>97248893That depends on how Primordials were fought. This might restart a bunch of arguments, but Moran, at least, suggested that they were fought and defeated through their souls. I do agree that at least tyrant lizard tier size shouldn't be a huge deal when Exalts are involved, though.
>>97249149I feel like all the jouten aren't necessarily suited for combatBut they're probably what warstriders were reserved for, to more effectively drive them back when they appeared in the fieldA Circle of Celestials could probably drive back a jouten, but if it's one of the massive, massive ones then it would take a long time, like pricking a whale to death with sewing needles instead of harpoons.

>In the game Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the Garou (werewolves) were made to defend the earth from the cosmic forces that threaten to tear it apart. The Garou fight against the Wyrm, the destroyer. It is a struggle against nearly insurmountable odds, especially considering the rivalry between many tribes. These rivalries make it almost impossible for the werewolves to present a unified front against a cosmic force that pervades reality.>From this morass of hatred and mutual betrayal, there is little hope that the Garou can emerge triumphant against a foe so well armed as the Wyrm. The Wyrm promises money, power, sex, and whatever else the heart desires to its followers while the Garou receive no reward for their striving. It drives them deeper and deeper into despair, or into betrayal so deep that they choose to serve the Wyrm instead.Main Rulebooks:>Werewolf: The Apocalypse Rulebookhttps://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Werewolf:_The_Apocalypse_Rulebook>Werewolf: The Apocalypse Second Editionhttps://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Werewolf:_The_Apocalypse_Second_Edition>Werewolf: The Apocalypse Revised Editionhttps://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Werewolf:_The_Apocalypse_Revised_Edition>Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Editionhttps://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Werewolf:_The_Apocalypse_20th_Anniversary_Edition>Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition Corebookhttps://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Werewolf:_The_Apocalypse_5th_Edition_CorebookComment too long. >>97242605You can buy the entire Dragonbane box (including full rulebook, dice, standees and solo rules) for cheap. Why I recommend it to players starting out solo is1. Because of what I said about and2. Because when I too was new to solo gaming I thought it was very easy to get into it with this game. The solo dungeon crawling that is included is hand-holdy enough to get you going but also it gives you the reigns to start being creative and handle it "on your own". It's really neat on-boarding, in my opinionpicrel it's the starterset. It's 40 american dollarydoos on amazon

>>97248488Retard
>>97243905>>97241980>>97245177Thanks for the advice, at its core I think I just need more experience with the system to be a bit more fair to myself with the TNs. Like, TN 12 for a skill check inherently feels low to me but that's supposed to be a very difficult task, even for a pro. Like a fucking idiot I'm treating these TNs like they're d20 and it's actually 2d6, and I'm naturally inclined to go high because I still feel kind of like I'm "getting away" with something because it's solo. I'll probably get over it once I get a few more games in; thanks for the sanity check. On a totally different note, how do you all handle extended social scenes? I've discovered I need to lean off the oracle a bit and that I probably don't need to consult it for every little thing, but I do still feel kind of trapped in a lot of talky scenes in my game so far. It's been a lot of "does this new NPC that the oracle introduced know anything about plot hook X? No, but... they want to talk about plot hook y" and I feel like it's burning me out a bit. Just interested in hearing some different perspectives on talkier scenes/games.

So, my Rogue has a backstory where her mother was a witch-healer. She became an orphan forcing herself to become a rogue to survive instead. However, I'd like to integrate the healing bits, most likely making her naturally good at using the thread and needle to suture wounds and a bit of incomplete herbalist knowledge. The idea is make a healer-killer duality. Should she know some bit of magic too? What's the best way to incorporate the healing part?
>>97249852Healer is a pretty great feat on Thief Rogue specifically, since it enables you to use the feat as a bonus action for some quick first-aid.
>dwarf speaks>scottish accent
>>97233287yikes
>>97236758Why would they be Jewish? Dwarves are strong warriors and laborers who created massive tunnels and holds and fine artisans. Jews are a culture whose entire history is spend as vagabonds moving from host country to host country. Jews have never been known artisans of skilled tradesman or involved in labor. The only comparison you can make with dwarfs is the "gold" motiff, but this is a weak basis to compare them to Jews, because most cultures love gold. Celts, Aztecs, Vikings, Romans, etc. everyone loves gold. If anything Jews "gold" has never actually been hoarding actual treasure but aquiring wealth is less straightforward means, ie. usury banking, coin clipping, etc.
>>97238927No, anon. However, if I'm having an in-character discussion, I'm obviously playing a roleplaying game, because roleplaying games aren't actually baseball, IC discussions are a part of them, and the only context where I'd ever have such a discussion is that of RPGs. It's fine to try to make your point through an anaolgue, but it'd help if you used something actually analogous with what we're talking about.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. >>97249099>% in Lair: 100% unless encountered randomlyHuh! This single reference seems to imply that the normal understanding of what the % in Lair stat is for is completely wrong. Or did Gygax just forget what he was doing by WG6?
>>97249475>Part of the problem with this request is that a T-Rex already canonically has 20 HD in AD&DHigh-level characters can defeat a T. rex easily. There's definitely room for something bigger. >>97249482That's in a module, in which the location of the lair is already given. In that context, I think it just means that if you go to its lair it will be there 100%. (Not something I'd personally do, but I don't think it has any implication for the MM.)
>>97249475In B/X, dragon turtles have 30 HD, and rocs and whales go up to 36 HD. AD&D rocs and dragon turtles are smaller for some reason, but MM whales can also reach 36 HD, and so does the brachyosaurus. In ACKS, krakens also get 36 HD. I think 36 HD is a good number for monsters that are big and stupid and suitable for domain level play.
>>97249517>That's in a module, in which the location of the lair is already given. In that context, I think it just means that if you go to its lair it will be there 100%.You're almost certainly right but it's an extremely poor way to phrase that idea mechanically.
>>97249681This feels a bit like pearl clutching given Gary a. can presume the DM to be familiar with the rules and b. plays fast and loose with rules as a DM himself. At that point in his career he's probably also taken a different attitude towards producing materials.
