>>97253225>>97253235These may be the most reasonable takes I've seen on Traviss in these threads.
>>97253352>The idea that she could treat it like a brawl was foreign to her.I choose this interpretation because it's kino. Reminds me of how in the Princess Bride novel, it's revealed that Inigo Montoya's last and best fencing master was an alcoholic Scotsman who taught him the most important lessons-- how to apply his fancy dueling techniques in a real-world context, and survive an actual fight even after things start going wrong.
>>97253352That still makes no sense because it doesn't matter what fucking martial arts style you use if someone can *see the fucking future*. Jedi "danger sense" has been shown to warn them of everything from general hostility from a crowd to a concealed ambushes to people walking up behind them to shank them with a vibroknife, why the fuck would it suddenly stop functioning just because the specific form of attack that's coming is a suckerpunch?
>>97253235Charitably, you could read it as Boba being the biggest Jedi killer in the galaxy who's still alive at that point. General Grievous and Grandpa Anakin aren't really options.
>>97254921Again though, that makes no sense because we're talking about Jaina fucking Solo, the Sword of the Jedi, a veteran fighter who's spent most of her young life at war against bondage aliens who fight hand-to-hand with living weapons that can randomly turn into fucking snakes that try to bite you. The notion that she's naive and focused to her detriment on "Jedi duelling" or whatever is farcical, and Traviss framing her that way was exclusively down to her desperate need to wank Mandos and shit on Jedi.

>>97254427>How was your 2025, anons?Godawful. I couldn't play games all year after the move and everything else about the year was truly abysmal. I want the girl of my dreams more than I want anything else in life right now and I can't have her and it makes me so damned sad.
>>97254774Could be worse, you could have had 100 different people playing with you in a year. Chin up anon
Anybody play Night Soil and have a good take on it?
>>97253791Also agreed, but it's still a good game especially for casual crowds. Decrypto is THAT much better, though
>>97254056>dominant speciesI love it. Have you played the marine version?Any other games that have the same feel.?>>97254236>ArkwrightI was interested in it but it looks too fiddly... And this version of Energy empire looks way worse.
After about 8 years since I last DM'ed a game, I've been asked to run a session. Unfortunately my books - adnd, 2e, 3e, 3.5, 4e, and 5e are in storage two states away. And i prefer physical copies. Thanks to critical role and the movie DND books have gone up in price which is weird.>4e books are ~10-15$ now. Is it viable to run 4e in 2025? I don't remember hating it and I still remember some home rules to streamline combat to speed it up a touch. Does anyone have suggestions for 1-3lvl adventures or campaign settings? >4e thread I guess
>>97254769Seeker desperately needed Primal Power 2 like how Paladin desperately needed Divine Power to be worth playing. Instead it got a single Dragon Article that added like 7 new powers that doubled down on its soft control instead of helping it even look at Wizard or Invoker. The best way to play Seeker is to Hybrid it with Ranger. Sure that drags Ranger down but it drags Seeker up to not being a waste of space. It also makes Ranger the pseudo magic class it was in other editions. I'm totally not mad that Arcane Archer is my favorite archetype and its hot dogshit in every single edition.
>>97254793>It otherwise was just really boring "I basic attack for big numbers".I reckon that was the point. God knows some of my players were that dumb.>>97254818This makes me gently sad, because it shouldn't be that way. 4e should have been bettter than that.
>>97254793Vampire was functional, just really boring because it only had like 1 or 2 choices you could make during leveling. Now Binder and Cavalier were just borderline unplayable, absolute dog shit classes.
>>97254633Assassin's biggest problem was it was a class focused on backloading damage in a game where everyone else was focused on frontloading damage, so odds are you either popped your shrouds early ands did jack shit, or you wait a few turns and whoever you were stacking shrouds on is dead.
>>97254894My table played with the idea of letting any PC activate Shrouds for extra damage. It turned Assassin into a fairly interesting support Striker, but I wouldn't say it measured up well comparatively. If we ever get a game going with one again soon, the next fix was going to be Shrouds being a meta currency Assassin's could spend and regain at a rate of 1/Round on their turn. I get the feeling that would have worked out better.

what edition is best for small scale games? 500 to 750 points? I prefer skirmish size but kill team has become quite shit and I want to have some flexibility in list building
>>97253217I feel like for small scale skirmish gaming like that 1st and 2nd edition is probably the way to play. But that's not to say that 3rd and 4th and the Kill Team and Combat Patrol rules of that era, Kill Team of 3rd(KT came about in late 3rd through white dwarf, late 200s IIRC) and 4th are a wholly different beast from what it is now, do a lot to scratch that itch.

Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. >>97253484Imbue 3 (Limited Skill Access, Multi-Shot, -80%; Limited Skill Application, Guns only, -50%) [8] + Multi-Shot (Guns) DX+0 [8]Pack it as a single 16 points advantage.
>>97253505Nice.
>>97253505I'd also throw in another -10% on Imbue 3 for "Accessibility, only with something to cut the bullet", but that'd be redundant unless you have a house rule to allow limitation values below -80%... which I do. In my games, every -120% of limitation value divides the value of an advantage by 10. So the final cost of that package would be 12 points.
>>97253329It is, but then again, it gets stale that everyone is aiming head or vitals.

>>97254686It's been quite nice actually. Having a lot of fun playing 3.0, the local HH community has become more active and is growing, and got a lot of motivation to build and paint more stuff now that pretty much every unit and option can work in a battle.A lot of the seething around 3.0 release came from tourists, WAACfags upset that their 2.0 army is no longer a guaranteed auto-win, and trolls from /40kg/ upset that HH isn't the same soulless tr00nament slop that 40k has become.
>>97254729Hey AT anon, what would you recommend getting for Titanicus after the starter box/faction book? Or just what you think is cool
>>97254879A warlord. You'll immediately have a full axiom maniple with a knight pair, that's about 1800 points depending on the loadout. Make sure to magnetize the warlord. That'll give you an average point army with a few maniple options.
>>97254914Thanks anon, I did think warlords are sick so was debating it already so that’s good, will of course wait to see if me and my brother enjoy it before diving further
>>97254914What if I want to play true messengers and I'm a masochist with too much money? I presume 3 warlords and 2 warhounds would be too much for the average game size, but what could I fit in alongside the maximum number of viable warlords (I love warlords)

I randomly picked a bunch of stuff and stuffed it into the same mech. Rate it out of 10 where 10 is the most busted cheese custom possible and 1 is an RFL-4D.
>>97254783Like a 6-7 out of 10. It's cheap for a clan heavy, doesn't hit too hard, and isn't heat optimized. The ferrolam and reinforced structure would be way more annoying if it didn't have explosive crits.
>>97254576This one seems to be up against the strange problem of the definition of unique rather than being a common DCMS unit. IIRC Unique means "less than 5 functional units across the entire Inner Sphere", which most commonly will mean individual customs, but also some prototypes and development units. That said, as a MUL unit of basically a footnote, it might just be listed wrong. That said I probably wouldn't bust someone's balls if they wanted to take it in a lizard force.

Making some spells for fun. Do you guys think this is balanced for 7th level?
my players say they love my campaign but im fucking tired it just feels like im trying to do something and never quite getting there and i dont wanna prep or at least not games i wanna imagine something else making encounters plots etc or just restart the same campaign with new players to perfect it further but not have to deal with the actual game at the same time i just wanna improv and go with the flow and see where things land but these idiots always have the dumbest ideas too and there's clearly a "that guy" that I should kick but he has never really done anything wrong he's just cognitively limited and i also wanna read more inspiration material i have every single pathfinder pdf on my phone but then i never dodoes anyone know this feel is anyone actually happy being a dm? why do i suffer all this doubt for some crumbs of appreciation? im a pretend normie with a faang job no sleep no wife and on top of that i run 2 campaigns and it's the best and worst thing at the same timei guess my question is can dnd bring happiness? or am i just coping that im accomplishing something. i guess coming up with a cool encounter or npc or item idea is fun once in a while
>>97254605Hmm, need's a material component. Like the heart of a magma mephit or something like that.
>>97254798I'm incredibly happy as a DM. Conversely, I am also a player in another game and am unsatisfied with the DM in that game. I mostly just stay for the camraderie and all the bsing while not playing. But that's neither here nor there. In my experience, people's contentment is not the product of one thing, it's everything. Like Alan Watts once said, "The only zen you'll find at the top of a mountain is the zen you bring up there with you."Try working on yourself, irrespective of whether you continue your campaigns. Hit the gym, fix your nutrition, and focus on yourself.
How is it? Looks bretty fun

>Halflings to do the farming>Dwarves to do the smithing and mining>Gnomes to do the researching>Elves to do magic>Humans to do the fighting (and thus, the ruling)This seems the obvious perfect order to things. Humans don't want to be the peasant farmers, we want to be the knights and lords, but somebody has to farm, somebody has to smith, etc. Why not have the other races do the menial peasant stuff that they specialize in anyways?
>>97251874Elves would rule for the simple reason of continuity. Nothing fucks up a country faster than rapid regime changes, and humans have no lifespan to think of.

Welcome to /wbg/, the thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art. >>97253146Rate is mostly defined by how many guns (or missiles) it carries.
>>97253160seems reasonable but the categories are kinda vague and overlapping. if you fix that then it's a decent classification for warships.
>>97253160I might steal that for some of the factions in my space game. Rules-wise ships are split into size classes 1 (destroyer/other subcapital), 2 (cruiser) and 3 (battleship), and the human navy uses the destroyer/cruiser/battleship classification and uses the same terms for other faction's ships of similar size (with the exception of obvious carriers being referred as such), but internally other factions could use different classifications.
>>97253209And here's my take on ship classification based on factions. Game rules wise, ships are supposed to be split into battleship-sized and cruiser-sized capital ships and smaller subcapital ships that operate as squadrons, so the classification is designed to roughly match that regardless of faction (though lorewise for the Collective Fleet only the core ships are in their terminology equivalent to capital ships and everything else considered to be escorts).
>>97167875Fable. Not anything specific. I just like the feel, style, and humor of the world.
