C'mon, do something
>>97278849Something.
>>97278849All I can give you is fedposting.
>>97278849Should I tie the various types of weapon scaling to perks, or should I have a while weapon creation section? Though if weapons are their own section, I have no idea what the perks would be. The whole thing is just weapons.

What are some fantasy and sci-fi movies you should watch to inspire your games and players?
>>97278561This post is straight up dogshit except a few Kurosawa films, mainly Hidden Fortress and Seven Samurai are great for RPG inspo. >>97279371That's a good one
Unironically what games? What you might be watching for Monsterhearts is not what you'd watch for On Mighty Thews.
Anything that had Ray Harryhausen special effects are a must. Always full of cool adventures and are a classic for a reason.

You have to play Monopoly.Which Monopoly do you play?
>>97267837>Not Galipolopoly
>>97247712The voice version's actually pretty good, for Monopoly at least.
>>97248955
>>97248543I think it depends on the level of tourism. here in germany we have like twenty city/region specific monopoly games even for cities with just 120k inhabitants
>>97248543You can get custom-made monopoly boards for specific areas. There's tons for small towns/counties/locations in the states

Welcome to Mecha Monday! Here we dedicate ourselves to mecha RPGs, wargames, and boardgames alike. >>97250544>"How do you do Ace Customs? Are there any? Do they have improved performance, or are the exact same as other mechs with a different finish?"It's actually pretty simple to do if you want - mech provides and upper limit on how many actions, speed, dodge and so on you can pull out. Pilot provides the skills. And the result of pilot getting into the mech is worst of the two stats. Let's say we have mech:4 arms with weapons5 speedPilot:Weapons 1Piloting 2As a result you get a mech with 4 weapons only one of which could be used per turn and mech can move up to 5 but turn only 2 times during the turn due to pilot's limited skills not being able to keep up with mech speed.Add that Weapons(plus weapon special rules) and Piloting(or speed if lower) determine chances to hit and dodge.Comment too long. >>97275740I also liked how GQuuux made all the borderline X-Men newtype nonsense we got up to in Zeonquest seem reasonable and understated.
>>97226443Don't think so, but you might be able to just build Roadstrikers from scratch. Or maybe use the ATs from the Votoms Fuzion book. I think Old SilCore is similar enough to Mektons Interlock that you could just consider using HG 2e.
>>97250215Looks fun. Curious to know how 4e runs. I get the feeling it's easier to play than it is to read. Also I'm itching for that St. Vincent material for HG 4e. Might be my favorite TN era conceptually but there's not too much on it.
>>97279232>I get the feeling it's easier to play than it is to read. This is very much true. The rulebook itself is needlessly bloated and written in a cumbersome manner, but the core system itself really is simple when it comes down to it.The real tricky part is keeping track of various 'side' rules that are hidden away in various paragraphs. Though I played it with some simplification to the damage system as well, since the default one is pants-on-head retarded.> Also I'm itching for that St. Vincent material for HG 4eSame. The new stuff they've added like the Oasis Depths module sounds awesome.
How would you implement undead PCs in a game, in a way that feels flavorful and meaningfully different from regular PCs?
>>97255834>How would you implement undead PCs in a gameJust dont.Solves your whole issue.
>>97255944>that's an extreme threat to the fun of the game if your PCs are supposed to be undeadThere are campaigns for players to all be dragons. I daresay it's uncreative to say that giving your PCs a weird powerset closes more doors than it opens. What about giving quests where other adventurers would be fucked but the undead PCs have an edge? Maybe an area with a shit ton of Gazers or something that would be a high-level challenge for normal players but is low-level to your undeads, and that is what makes them special and puts them in the right place at the right time for other events?
>>97255834Replace their race's strongest trait with the following:"Undead Fortitude: When you are reduced to 0 Hit Points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 Hit Point instead. Once you use this trait, you can't do so again until you finish a Long Rest."If you want to do more, you can give them disadvantage on Persuation checks and advantage on intimidation checks. If you want it more realistic and the group is fine with it, have all npcs want to kill the character on sight unless he's disguising his undead status.
>>97255834No need. Players choose whatever abilities make sense, just like for any character.
Sigil & Shadow has rules for ghost PCs. They can temporarily manifest themselves in a physical realm with magic and utilize cracks in reality for longer crossovers with limitation that they can only linger until the next sunset or sunrise before needing to go back to ghost realm the same way they came, and spells they cast affect the physical realm even if they are not manifesting themselves. They are wearing gear and carrying equipment they had on death, and there are some special rules on how ephemeral variations of items function. One of the perks of being a ghost is that they can never lose any items, even if they are ripped from them supernaturally they just reappear on them later. A lot of supernatural enemies exist simultaneously in the physical world and the ghost world and they also face malevolent spirits there, so they are by no means safe in "invisible" ghost forms.
Thoughts on moths?
>>97276734Haven't used them much, they were a more frequent meme monster in the earl 2020s. They're sort of creepy looking if you've never been outside and don't have any specifically innate power or horror to them so there's not much to work with other than making them quiet weirdos.
>>97276734Judgmental.
One of our games has them as an antagonist of sorts.Since the setting has fate spiders wielding threads of fate, there's an opposing (dragon)moth entities that eat the threads of fate. Very much a Creation vs Destruction theming.Them being an enemy of creation hasn't stopped the party from managing to snag one as a companion, because of course (to the frustration of the fate spider character, but not their player). Also easy enough to do a Law vs Chaos aspect, and have them represent breaking free from the shackles of fate, or a hero burning brightly before being consumed.
Funfact: OG Mothman didn't really have much "moth" about it.
>>97276734Sex. With moths.

>>97275426Why is the text so tiny? Also, Why Man-Kind?
>>97279023Make it 1WB and 1/3. Vigilance and First Strike. I would try to word the first ability like it gains indest and deathtouch if it's attacking alone. Blocking doesn't fit NV flavor or MtG color theory. If you want the +1/+1 counters, that's fine.As-is it's too slow for any real play, but 3 CMC would be OP with both abilities. Magic should be rare, mysterious, superstitious. It should take time to use and be exhausting to cast When did fantasy magic and wizards turn in Avatar the Last Airbender shooting fire and lightning out their assholes?
>>97271570Pi is exactly 3.
>>97275520The perfect circle.
Magic should be cool
I like when magic IS rare, and magicians usually only get few to several spells, or magic objects, pacts, etc, so as to make them unique in their backgrounds.
>>97264376As always, this is posturing storyfag/armchair designer nonsense that doesn't work with real continuous gameplay.
>gameplayFor Centaurs, you should be able to use them as mounts when not in combat if they're lightly armed & armored. I think you could ride into battle with them and fight on their back without overburdening them, depending on your loadout. Squeezing into dungeons and caves might be a bit of a bitch, and your centaur companion may find themselves too cumbersome to accompany you in certain locations. If people in wheelchairs can make do, I'm sure a transmog potion or a shrinking potion might solve the problem.>fantasy settingsThey're more at home here for sure, like having a horse. Some taverns may give you a hard "no" for your centaur companion, but I'm sure regions that are steeped in centaur culture or adjacent ones have accommodations for their unique anatomy. If nothing else, they could help carry your camp supplies and other provisions. >loadouts for fantasyIf you're not riding them, I think they can be pretty well armed and armored- think tower shield and a mace/flail. They also make good spearmen, so I think they'd be comfortable wielding a halbard and similar pike-style weapons. This would be with them wearing plate mail cuirass for the human portion and chainmail curtain over their horse hind quarters, or perhaps some specially fitted Gambeson. Other plate sections could be fitted to their horse body as needed. Archery and crossbows seem like they'd work for ranged options. I've not considered them using magic, but having a fairly mobile spellcaster seems cool as well.
