Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. But feel free to talk about any game you've had experience with.
>>97386543I doubt that.
>>97386550What's the issue? Instead of Acrobatics, you take a skill in crafting a certain item. Then you double your prof if you have proficiency in appropriate tools as well. If you have neither, you're not able to make a functional item, they will have at least two flaws. You can use Arcane for enchanting, but if you have proficiency on a homebrew "Evocation" skill, you can make a flaming sword with much lower risk of failure.

Should an elven wizard be more powerful on average than a human one? Explain your answer.
>>97356786I agree
>>973567283.5e handled this by giving elves a bonus to Intelligence, which is truly WotC's official only trait that makes them stronger. At the heart of your post, yes. Yet this is all we got and now even the stat bonus for species has been removed. Why do elves deserve to be better wizards? Because they are documented as getting their powers from years of study and hard work. A being that can live 5 times longer than a human has much more time to study and develop. If we were being real, there would be no comparison, although with a game interested in balance, they won't make a dichotomy that severe.
>>97386643Yeah elves sort of having to be balanced for game mechanics takes some of the lore away.
>>97386798Quite a bit in fact. I mean, not to get onto this topic, but look at people on Earth. We vary in size more than the race guidelines for character creation in the Player's Handbook does. Same with innate strength and intelligence. A species that lives an extra few centuries, be them elves or dwarves, would be incredibly different and diverse. It truly is balancing these factors that greatly takes away from what race differences could be.
>>97386945That's why level adjustment existed to balance some nonhuman PC's long ago, now gnomes run the same speed as goliaths.

why are many creators so afraid of making a setting with napoleonic wars era technology?
>>97285005Because there's no reason to. The Napoleonic Wars are already interesting. Adding dragons doesn't do anything and would bring into question a lot of what people like about Napoleonic warfare (the infantry tactics and formations that are unlike any other period). If you're interested in the period, by a copy of The Campaigns of Napoleon (David G. Chandler) and The Peninsular War (Charles Esdaile), read them, then buy a copy of either Age of Eagles or Field of Glory Napoleonics and enough Perry or Victrix figures to make a brigade with a few battalions of infantry, a unit or two of cavalry, and some guns.
This thread made me wonder how a napoleonic version of Dishonored would look like. Thats a type of setting that i can see working, with less focus on open warfare and more focussed about urban stuff, the occult and the supernatural. Just not with a victorian steampunk coat, but a napoleonic one.

The former should be fine because it's a game about getting tangled in the local affairs of wherever you end up at, and with the latter skills are freeform and give an equivalent bonus to the one you get from your weapon, but they can stack in theory so if you really wanted you could give yourself a combat background and stack it with the weapon bonus, but I suppose that's balanced by the fact you're specialising and giving up potential versatility elsewhere.

Still, great value box.>tzeentch2 sets of tzaangor enlightened (50 each), a shaman (32.50), and a standard box of tzaangors (45). 180.80 in total, so 33.6% discount.
