>>97291061Grabowski, but he and subsequent writers fusilladed the message.
>He was looking into a great chamber, whose walls and floors were of stone, and whose mighty roof was upheld by gigantic stone columns, strangely carved. Ranks of feathered black warriors lined the walls and a double column of them stood like statues before a throne set between two stone dragons which were larger than elephants. These men he recognized, by their bearing and general appearance, to be tribesmen of the warriors he had fought at the chasm. But his gaze was drawn irresistibly to the great, grotesquely ornamented throne. There, dwarfed by the ponderous splendor about her, a woman reclined. A black woman she was, young and of a tigerish comeliness. She was naked except for a beplumed helmet, armbands, anklets and a girdle of colored ostrich feathers and she sprawled upon the silken cushions with her limbs thrown about in voluptuous abandon.>Even at that distance Kane could make out that her features were regal yet barbaric, haughty and imperious, yet sensual, and with a touch of ruthless cruelty about the curl of her full red lips. Kane felt his pulse quicken. This could be no other than she whose crimes had become almost mythical—Nakari of Negari, demon queen of a demon city, whose monstrous lust for blood had set half a continent shivering. At least she seemed human enough; the tales of the fearful river tribes had lent her a supernatural aspect. Kane had half expected to see a loathsome semi-human monster out of some past and demoniacal ageOh, Nakari really is proto Raksi.
>>97286867What are your hopes for new Exalted content in 2026? I hope we get more 3e fiction, be it a comic like picture related, a novella, or otherwise.
>>97291863I'm thinking it's going to be nice to play some infernal games in 3e using some actual canon rules. I'm not really sure about new content but I'm always happy with new whatever. If I were to ask for something then I guess it'd be more demons and NPC's to play around with. Especially now that we have so much content and more years of experience to work with making cool npcs. Say what you will but I actually liked those Devil-Stars that were posted.>>97291061A big part of solars is that them being great didn't stop them from losing due to hubris. Between the first age and the great contagion it's pretty canon that the exalted can't just fix all the things.
>>97291995The problem is that Grabowski introduced "somebody was spiking their drinks" to the narrative.
I've spent the last year, studying, and designing a custom Arthurian set, originally intended to be based on Le Morte d'Arthur (like how P3k was based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms). However, as I continued to study, and look into different (and some obscure sources) this turned into a much more wider net. This set, which is no where near finished includes>Welsh Triads and The Magnibong>Pre-Vulgate Arthur traditions>Vulgate/Post Vulgate/Lancelot cycles>some English/Welsh fairy tales>and even a bit of the Victorian Arthurian revival (especially for art). I avoided the Italian and German romances entirely, and tried not to include weird outliners except when needed. Outside of art, nothing is sourced from the 20th century or onward. Also all art is public domain. I'm mainly posting here for feedback. Some will be art recommendations, flavor text (especially sourced) will be always welcomed.Comment too long. The final 'mundane' creature. I have two outliners left I'll show later, but this is the last of the finished non-legendary creatures.
>>97291943>There is banding.... I don't think "have a card with this one keyword that or die" is good design. The turn this drops it's an immediate 8 swing and thus 8 1/1s. If you have a banding creature you'll need to sacrifice it, otherwise, you'll probably have to put up your entire board in front of it. This is basically an Emrakul in comparison to the rest of the set

>>97290696>It was translated in 2022 or afterwards it seemsIt 100% wasn't since I played it in English on Steam before then. That said, its more of a puzzle game than strategy. Every map is designed with an intended solution that's mandatory in most cases if you want to get all the side objectives.

It's fantasy dawg
In WEG' D6 Fantasy orcs, goblins, ogres and bugbears are created from other humanoid races. The most handy and large scale method is just burying humanoids to a cursed ground, which causes them to deform and rise again as mentioned evil races. They can also be created by corrupting humanoids through magical torture, and through evil races raping other humanoid women which results in offspring of evil race. This is all mostly done by evil wizards who want obedient minions who do their bidding as long as they are given something to hurt or smash on regular basis.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. And as we enter this happiest and newest of years, remember: 2e was never an old-school game, bait is for reporting, and fish is for smoking! Happy new year, grogs! Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help: >n00b DM's Guidehttps://pastebin.com/EVvt6P0B>n00b Player's Handbookhttps://pastebin.com/XALkXkV0 >Troves, Resources, Blogs, etc:http://pastebin.com/9fzM6128 >Need a starter dungeon? (Anyone can do this, without asking permission from me, and there's no need for a fee or royalty to me of any kind.) I hope that the buying public will understand that this means your publication is compatible with other systems as well, if you follow that... I realise this is vague but I'm under the constraints [regarding referencing Product Identity] I indicated earlier.>Secondly, it's an openly-usable label for your publication. In other words, if you say you're selling something compatible with OSRIC, you'll benefit from the marketing that other people have put into their own OSRIC-compatible stuff, while they will also benefit from your own efforts.>I should say that I don't expect anyone actually to *play* OSRIC.>—Stuart Marshall, 2006

Upkeep, domains, investment in business, moneychangers fees, taxes and tithes, rival adventuring parties potentially Indiana Jonesing your players out of treasure, ransoming players/henchmen/hirelings etc., specialist and sage costs, training costs and all other manner of money business is more than enough to keep money moving and players pockets empty enough that they're hungry for adventure.>>97290391Autistic things like keen-earedness aren't in, ascending AC, from the DMG draft I know wilderness encounters are always a d12 instead of varying dice depending on how civilized environs are, there are normally only a daily and nightly check. Why do "modern" and modern people go insane when they see some eldritch blorblo, but Conan could just kill it without going "aaaaaahhh save me niggerman!!!!!"
>>97291524So you have no self preservation? Youre fine with the spider molesting you & taking your dreams? You would be able to perfectly ignore giant spiders shuttling around? And yes, the holes are getting progressively worse, most everyone forgets what's eaten. Your neighborhood is Swiss cheese, only by some twist of fate granted you enlightenment.
>>97291393>mortal injuries>took some licks>what Howard wrote>bitch ass qualifiersYou're the one making Conan seem like a faggot ass punk. It's a far greater triumph on the Cimmerian's part if a man like him is pushed to his utmost, to the very brink of death, yet manages to triumph over something that would have slain lesser men. It's one of the ways Howard frequently indicated that Conan was on another level: by highlighting how what he did was superlative relative to the feats of other men, particularly those of civilized lands.
>>97287164Uhhh no.An engram is a stable pattern which stores information (and there can be dynamical processes taking place within it, but that's a more advanced topic which isn't really useful here).Connecting that network to an external pattern fundamentally changes the topology of both networks, and as the comprising nodes continue to interact, there is a cascade of changes taking place as the influences of the signal interface patterns approach a new equilibrium. And this can be achieved by literally any means available of interacting with a given engram. In the case of human brains, that means any of your senses are an attack surface. In this context, attack surface does imply hostile intent, I only mean it in the sense that it's an access route. This is why certain spider species put on such a weird display of presenting their colorful patterns and waving their legs in such a specific manner. It's literally a hack of the female spider's brain. Peacocks and birds of paradise do it, too. Certain boxfish / puffer fish do it when they build their radial nest patterns. Cuttlefish do it when they put on their strobe display to confuse target crabs while hunting. It's not just a bright pattern. It directly affects the intended viewer's brain. As the vision processing centers receive the presented pattern, it reliably triggers a cascade of signals in the networks which affects other regions of the brain, completely bypassing the normal executive / command processing centers. It's not exactly like a black fax / DDOS attack, but information attacks like this are definitely a well known and active area of research in security and neurology. No psionics needed.

Ironically, I started doing paid GMing cause just after I finally got my degree all the entry-level positions for my career basically got kneecapped by AI. Every boomer that has their position is fine, but now the pipeline from the bottom is severely sieved.>>97291737Supply and demand like >>97291694 stated. Lots of players, not enough people to run things half decently. You probably have a friend group that's reliable enough, but most of my clients are either grogs in their later years or younger peeps in tech whose old group splintered as life and responsibilities pushed them away. These people want to have a good experience, want players that are committed to coming each day, and want to know that the GM won't drop out just cause they woke up on the wrong side of bed that day.Honestly, I was afraid I'd get burned out but it hasn't been the case. I refuse to run 5e so instead I do everything from Pathfinder 2e to Mothership, Lancer, Fabula Ultima, etc. and I can always find enough players to get the ball rolling. The more people I introduce to something other than WOTCslop, the better for the hobby.
>>97291731>Paid friendship always will beYou're essentially describing any business transaction, ever.>>97291737>Why would anyone payBecause they want to enjoy a good game, and a good game is a rare thing, especially in the current state of the hobby. People get tired of clueless DMs who don't prep and/or can't tell a story to save their lives, people get tired of half the table being on their phones all session, people get tired of people bailing on a session last minute because *insert weak ass excuse here* when really, they just couldn't find enough give a shit in their hearts to go through the motions of a game they have no reason to care about that week. Some of these people are tired enough to pay.Growing up, it would never occur to me, or I imagine, anyone, to charge their friends to run a game. It still doesn't. That said, the landscape has shifted, and paid GMing came about because of the massive influx of normies into the hobby. Normies aren't necessarily a problem, they just tend to be ignorant of a lot of things grogs take for granted, and having them at the table can be a bit of a distraction, and it tracks that nobody wants to take on an entire table of them without being compensated.Maybe you don't mind spending your time, energy, and resources on people you barely know, and hey, if that's the case, I guess you're just more altruistic than me. But if your stance is that it's somehow a moral transgression to be expected to be paid for a service, or paid to teach a skill, please explain to me why GMing should be different from anything else, or better yet, dine on my unit and fuck all the way off with that noise.
>>97291780Just out of curiosity, why do you refuse to run 5E? I try to avoid supporting WotC as a company, but I just know... so... fucking... much... about Eberron, and am really good at running campaigns set in the same. From a mechanics standpoint I find it tiresome how much the "standard" balancing for combat coddles players; I'm not (always) trying to flirt with a TPK, but I think the people writing for WotC are woefully ignorant of how quickly feeling like your choices don't matter can kill interest in a game.Anyway, yeah, I try to encourage players to give PF2/Starfinder a try whenever possible, but some people are slaves to branding. But then hey, that's probably a big part of why they have to pay me in the first place.
>>97291851I'll answer your question for $20.
>>97291931Because I was there when 5e launched, both as a player and as a GM. I experienced the ups, the downs, and the absolute trickle of content while fixing nothing concerning the worst of the system.I've had more than enough after a few years, especially as a GM. When you're asking people for money there's obviously a certain standard that you have to deliver and I simply do not have the patience for something that I am neither passionate nor optimistic about.I have no doubt that my own influx of players are because they feel the exact same way about 5e. Hell, a handful of them have basically come my way because they are the only ones sick of 5e in their group and cannot convince their players or GM to do anything else.

>>97291094They're on all the popular shadow libraries.
One thing I really like about 4e is the ability to challenge tactically savvy players with enemy group synergies. For example, let us consider an encounter against a group of xivort darters (level 1 artilleries) who have tamed a bunch of thornskin frogs (level 1 brutes) and wolf packmates (level 1 minion skirmishers).http://iws.mx/dnd/?view=monster5029http://iws.mx/dnd/?view=monster4879http://iws.mx/dnd/?view=monster4614The xivort darters can daze PCs, which is annoying enough. However, the thornskin frogs can move in to deal heavy damage and knock PCs prone. Standing from prone takes a move action, and a dazed creature can take only one action on their turn, so a dazed PC who wants to use a standard action will have to settle for staying prone. Unfortunately, the wolf packmates can then move in to deal extra damage to the prone PCs. Simple but nasty enemy synergy. How about a positioning challenge for PCs of a slightly higher level? Let us say a couple of centurions of the Iron Circle (level 6 soldiers) have rounded up several dwarf warriors (level 1 minion artilleries) and a couple of extremist wilden ancients (level 4 artilleries [leader]) to stir up trouble.http://iws.mx/dnd/?view=monster6025http://iws.mx/dnd/?view=monster115713http://iws.mx/dnd/?view=monster5027Comment too long. Why are wolves so common in TTRPGs as enemies?
>>97291809>>97291858Nice projection, retards.
>>97291771Yes, because unlike the dumb dong lover who thinks he can easily win a fist fight with a wolf people will make use of tools.

>>97291782The tile randomness isn't as big of a factor as it might seem. While it can help, the real strategy of the game is smart stock buying: how to best benefit when company A gets acquired (stockholder bonuses) and how to best benefit when company A acquires a smaller company (preexisting shares get more valuable). It's a great game that you have to play by your gut instinct and mind games, rather than pure calculation alone. There's a reason why it's still popular 60 years later. The anniversary edition is also great, the poker chip money and tile bag are nice to have.
>>97291782>>97291880>If you get stuck with a tile that helps other peopleThis isn't the best wording since a merger pretty much always helps multiple people. I meant a tile that helps only other people but does nothing for yourself.
>>97291889That can still be planned around, do the merger early and deny a potential bigger payout.
>>97291898Sometimes it's the right move and sometimes that keeps people liquid in the middle of the game who otherwise wouldn't be. I've lost more then one game that way.
>>97291885>the poker chip money are nice to have. There's not a good way to hide the chips and Acquire with open information is AIDS. In a just world Acquire would have Chinatown paper money instead of Monopoly paper money.
