A few games into a necromunda dominion campaign. Currently on 9 gangers, all with one weapon, some scattered armour and gear. Most gear is on leader and champions who are pretty beefy.Venators so no juves. How many bodies is enough - we're capped at 100 credits/game. Might aim for a rogue doc and underhive merchant that can do Savvy Trader for some eco. Is it absolutely critical to pick up a ratling with lasgun or something similar so I've got 10 gangers? And how many bodies should I be aiming for by around game 4, 8, etc?
>>97385273>How many bodies is enoughDepend on what scenarios were used. So let's say the scenarios with highest crew size at 9, you want 9 + 3 for a normal gang to account for fighters in recovery, and another 3 if you're cawdor. Early campaign you should focus on giving your guys better weapons and armors, and having leftover fund for medical escort.
>>97385340Thanks. I'm going to challenge for a territory that gives me a free rogue doc next - I'll probably buy an underhive merchant after and get some discounted armour and gear. Already got a ganger with a bolter so spamming that would feel cheap, for now.
>guy at FLGS does the most amazing model paintjobs>leaves his bases bare black plasticI know its his taste and everything but as someone who makes every base a little diorama to tell a story or unify a gang/warband this wobbles my jhonnys more than id like to admit.
>>97387528>bare black plasticWhat game does models in black plastic?
>dagger deals more damage than broadswordAt what point do you decide enough is enough and you won't respect a game that won't respect historically accurate weapons?
>>97376717I like how GURPS, in a way, has both weapons that favor STR or DEX, but it's more subtle.Big weapons like great axes favor STR because they have higher higher STR requirements, often inflict Swing damage (which gets better damage-scaling than Thrust), and high STR often goes hand-in-hand with higher HP and encumbrance; so you can afford a somewhat lower weapon skill (almost all physical skills are based on DEX), and just go on All-Out Attack for a to-hit bonus, relying on your high HP and heay armor to protect you. Bigger weapons also get longer reach, which means shorter-reach opponents will have to take a penalty to attack and/or defenses if they want to get close to you and hit you on the same turn.Small weapons like daggers favor DEX because they have low STR requirements, often inflict Thrust damage (which gets worse damage-scaling, so high STR is less effective), but often inflict Impaling damage which can target armor gaps and vulnerable hit locations like the eyes and vitals. These attack options get huge damage multipliers, but also come with huge attack penalties, so having high skill is favored. Also, since you won't have as much HP or armor as beefier fighters, you'll have to rely on dodging and parrying to stay alive, which also favor high skill. But it's not totally one way or the other. You can make a beefy dagger fighter (especially with grappling, like >>97383277) or an agile barbarian warrior. Unlike many other systems I've played, it pays to be a balance of strong and skilled; you don't have to be just one or the other. It's realistic and intuitive, and I like that.
>>97382749I used to insist on targeted attacks but changed my view after playing some Twilight 2000 4e, random locations actually make armor pieces like helmets matter and partial armor on limbs etc. can be crucial for survival
If you wanted to be realistic, you'd need some sort of reach and clearance mechanics to represent how restrictive a large weapon is in tight quarters or when the enemy is already in your face, as well as how utterly fucked a dagger-wielder is when the other guy's sharpened stick outranged his by a factor of ten. As for the actual damage potential, you'd need a million rules for edge alignment, different armours with different weak points, different abilities to turn a cutting attack into a blunt one, to where you can model the difference between getting daggered in the armpit vs taking a sword blow to your helmeted head.
>>97387974>reach and clearance mechanics to represent how restrictive a large weapon is in tight quarters or when the enemy is already in your faceGURPS has both of thoseyou get a penalty to your skill when trying to use a non-C (C for close combat) weapon in C range. And you get a penalty (or just straight up can't do it) when trying to swing a big weapon in tight quarters. I don't care to go rule by rule about the rest of your post but all of that you mention except for "edge alignment" is in the GURPS Basic Set.

Quick one fellas. Black or green rim? https://poll-maker.com/poll5697259xFaE041b8-167
>>97387352I vote for green, but I would suggest another, complementary, detail to the base, a grass tuft or something.
>>97386572Just take champion and bunch of chaos marines without any gear to insta spawn some demons. Keep in mind that you must also have proper marks of Chaos to actually keep those said demons on table.
>>97387352Brown.Prompted me to check though and that before the goblin green bases with plain goblin green brushed sand/flock topping for everything era, base rims seemed to be largely just complimentary to what was on top. So a lot of brown bases. Some black rim bases, some green rims sometimes quite dark green. Quite a lot of variety in bases that got smushed out by the goblin green standardisation.
>>97387352I think green rim works better with the pure green top, black would be better if it had some brown patches or little stones on top too

How would you humanize enemy mooks even if the players have to put them down at the end of day? How do you make it so that players leaving piles of corpses in their wake is not a trivial matter?
I've always wanted to see a Lord of the Rings story that takes place after the War of the Ring has concluded. A band of a half-dozen Orcs and two Goblin Warg-Riders from Mordor fleeing in the wake of Gondor and Rohirrim entering it, because they don't want to be wiped out (whether or not the Men actually intend to do this isn't clarified). These Orcs are still evil, to be clear. But we'd basically follow a sort of reverse-Fellowship as they travel from Mordor north, to Dol Guldur, because they're chasing rumors that Dol Guldur hasn't fallen, is holding out in the wake of Sauron's defeat. And the point would be to show that while they're evil, it's because they were shaped to it, not born to it. And it doesn't consume their every waking moment. We get moments of camaraderie, of humor, genuine friendship between the Goblins and their Wargs (who, remember, can speak) and of course the entire journey is one of desperate hope. Of course this being a tragedy, as they near Dol Guldur they'd come across an Orc fleeing from it - it's fallen to the Dwarves. Dwarves to the north, Men following from the south, this band of Orcs trapped in the middle. So the story concludes with them deciding to make a last stand against the Dwarves and Men, preferably at some historically significant ruin. And the final chapter is the battle in which they fall, one by one, while we also see them working together, defending each other, being aggrieved when one of them falls because they knew them...essentially everything that would go into a last stand if the characters were Men or Elves or Dwarves, it's just that instead we're following Orcs and Goblins and Wargs. They probably take up a song during the whole thing, something Orcish, something about battle that's nevertheless also somehow about the pointlessness of it all. Something tired. The last surviving Orc, run through by a sword, manages to finish the song."It's done."Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

>>97386976>the point would be to show that while they're evil, it's because they were shaped to it, not born to itTrite "le heckin subversion xD" garbage. Predictable and boring, and not in line with established LotR lore, within which the orcs were an extension of the discord of Melkor within the Song of the Ainur.Reconsider suicide.>>97386930They are, it's just that their feelings are not what we'd traditionally call human, based on the subset of humanity capable of creating higher culture as a consequence of their access to more meaningful or higher states of emotion, such as universal empathy, and access to theory of mind.
>>97384224To begin with, it entirely depends on what kind of mooks you fight and why they want to harm you.Are we talking soldiers of an enemy state? What kind of war is this? Is it "i dont care if noble A or noble B is on top, for us down here all remains the same", or is it a case of "we will conquer and subjugate you, destroy your culture and society"Is it criminals who are just desperate people trying to survive? Or is it the real world equivalent of mafia/ cartel/ street gangs, full of absolute bastards? Are the mooks evil cultists trying to bring forth the end of the world and kickstart an age of endless suffering and darkness? Or a bunch of bored fags larping, who are in way over their head?Depending on the type of mook and the type of their goal, it can either be very easy or increadibly hard to humanize them.
For some time now, I've been developing my free game, an RPG/strategy interactive fiction simulator about a Dark Lord/Lady trying to conquer/destroy a fantasy world using intrigue, corruption, dark magic, and brutal military force.I have already sought and received your help several times, for which I am grateful.I am planning another major update, focusing primarily on the endgame. Players focused on direct conquest will have new ways to find loot—portals to crazy, Lovecraftian worlds, discovering new lands, and a magical slumber to wait for the rebirth of old enemies/the emergence of new ones (and seeing how the world changes in their absence). For players more interested in the less brutal side of world domination, the options for managing the territories of our empire will be expanded. Will you allow orcs to overrun Dark Elf cities? Will schools focus on training engineers for the army and economy, or on brainwashing them into blind obedience? Furthermore, I'm expanding the Dark Lord's interactions with other characters, including available romances. Of course, new content requires testing, and since, as usual, it's highly non-linear and dependent on player decisions (plus random generation), I can't test every combination myself. That's why I'm seeking the help of testers. Here is test version - no need for download, it is playable online in the browser, no need to register or download: https://adeptus7.itch.io/playtesting
>>97378890>>97378890Back to your containment thread, slopfaggot. Your kind aren't welcome amongst humans.
>>97385740Hi, no, not Dungeon Keeper+. Of course SG ia one of the inspirations, but probably not main (e.g. Crusader Kings was more important). Its focus is not on on building and defending your lair (however there are elements of it), but influencing outside world, establishing cults and spy network, corrupting and cursing nations, leaders and other characters to change them into desired direction, institage wars or waging them yourself when the enemy is weakened etc. Why /tg/? Because I know that local anons helped with their ideas in creating many games (like Chapter Master) - and because I already make such threads few times, on the occasion of the previous updates and usually I got good and useful feedback.
>>97380043
>>97378890Hi, I tired this a few months ago when you first(?) posted it. The intial run through was fun, got the weird metaphysical end. The second run through as a fighter type was much less interesting in general. Cute idea though, thanks for making it. Is there a /v/ for flash games, vine types, cyoas etc? This is more or less a cyoa, might try talking to that general if you haven't.
