Usually GR has 8 pilots, in theory is a nice card but I dunno how many times you'll be able to trigger the conditional draw

Will test it for sure though

Yeah this card is trash. The deck needed a way to search pilots. I mean it technically finds pilots but only after you fucking have the one you need.

eerrmmm technically thats not card draw thats a tutor with a requirement :)
its also a massive downgrade from the operation meteor tutor, Zeon getting to dig 5 for a pilot is exactly what it needs right now

I feel like making something, ideally something OSR-adjacent. This is kind of an open-ended question: what RPG supplement or other cool thing does /tg/ want to see? Think something you'd pay between $3 and $5 for.

I've got some game design and writing experience. I can handle graphic design and illustration (and sound too, if relevant). I just want some input on what you think might be cool. Trying to decide what to put a little time into.

>>
>>96471676
People use "OSR" to refer to Into the Odd (and a wide variety of other games) because they want to play a particular style of game that main D&D has been slowly trending away from (world-as-obstacle, no predetermined big bads or character arcs, GM doesn't have to delicately balance encounters and PCs don't have to white room box everything they see), but early D&D is pretty ass to actually deal with all its annoying quicks, so they wanted to play a system that has taken advantage of 50 years of game design rather than using descending AC because the designer copied it from naval wargames.

Whether or not these people came from 5e is completely irrelevant, just as it would be completely irrelevant if they decided to play AD&D 1e instead of Into the Odd.
>>
>>96471703
OSR just meant "no-3.0 D&D" back when it started, not long after 3.0 D&D was released.

All the tropes people associate with OSR (Low-level, dirt-caked men trudging into dungeons consisting of nothing but 10x10 rooms, whacking every 5-foot-square with a 10-foot pole, followed by a hoard of hirelings, waiting for their turns to die while the slavishly track how many torches they have remaining) is basically a stereotype, and unfortunately there have been some who decided to embrace that stereotype, while slapping on some bullshit about how making RPGs more like board games is actually giving power to the players, which is quite the cope.
>>
>>96471703
Yeah, and I’m saying they’re wrong. It was established as a way to create new adventure content for classic d&d and now it’s just everyone selling their shitbrew of b/x.

A lot of stupid fucking faggots have been posting some bullshit about how AI art is "good" and "fine for the hobby". I am here to tell you, no, you are a FAGGOT who will not pour BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS into his game. You know what AI slop is? You coveting the ability of others and compensating by using tools. You are a fool with an automatic drill acting greater than a true carpenter. Continue down your path. One day you will awaken and see yourself in a pit of disingenuous tar. An inescapable muck that you have built into your home, a fitting place for a wretch unwilling to unabashedly display their love for their fellow players in any form.

Anyway, post art from your campaigns. I need to update this, but its mostly my current party. Goblin and the orc died during the end of the last dungeon.

All this AI stuff is to most people is a bunch of resource depleting toys that the rich are using to become richer while the world keeps going to pot to support the techbros’ dream of replacing humanity for more literal drones instead of just metaphorical ones. It’s not exactly fair, but mass media isn’t exactly in a hurry to correct that.

▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop minture brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful kickstarter campaigns.

Arc Survivors start off a bit weaker but mid-to-late game when you unlock some of the stronger knowledges and get more tools to get specific ones, they become absurdly powerful.

A late-game arc survivor with Dark Impulse can fairly easily push all his stats in the double digits. The Regalist base knowledge lets you run diagonally. Early game Marrowists can get 6 flat armor to every hit location meaning you get an incredibly tanky character that can be equiped with all your utility gear.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image (follow the URL to get to a folder with some files, read the files to get to the archive). Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: What is your opinion on the art in GURPS books?

There's Stun Points from Power-Ups 9. You have SP equal to HPxN, where N is some chosen value (book uses 5 in the example, but 10 could work for BlueArchiveAnon). When you're hit with an attack, injury comes off of SP, and you lose 1/Nth that amount of HP. Once you're out of SP (or are asleep, unconscious, or similar), damage comes off of HP 1:1 like normal.

It's basically free Injury Tolerance (DR) with the added effect of it "running out" and not protecting you after you've reached a certain threshold; a hero can fight on through stone-shattering spells and missile blasts, but once sufficiently weakened can be finished off by a dramatic but completely mundane knife to the gut.

>>96471114
There are currently holes in GURPS for actual high-level management of NPCs, but beyond that I can't think of a ton. The number (and variety) of alternate rules means there's usually something viable in GURPS for all sorts of campaigns; for as much as the system gets memed on as an autistically-detail realism simulator, there are plenty of cinematic rules to tweak things to your chosen power level (and just as many to make things *more* austically-detailed for those that want a realism simulator).

>>96471151
Realm Management is barely a GURPS book. I don't say this just as a way to distance a system I like from a bad entry in its catalog, it literally has nothing to do with any other part of GURPS's rules. Those rules as presented in the book are just as compatible with D&D, 40kRPGs, and one-page indie games. Rice managed to push through his half-made boardgame and pass it off as a GURPS splat.
>>
>>96470961
Your approach is too much of a brute force one, as other anons have mentioned. GURPS has a lot of options to reduce lethality, though you need some familiarity with the system. I'll try to explain some of the ramifications each has.
>10xHP, no hit locations
This is what you're doing. First of all, you don't die at 0 HP in GURPS. You must roll HT to stay conscious, and death isn't a risk until you're at -1xHP, and only happens automatically at -5xHP. You could easily rule that unconsciousness is the worst they risk.
Another aspect is that while an average person has their Move halved at 3 HP or less, that is 33 HP for you. I'd assume that someone reeling from severe wounds is something you'd keep at a similar threshold rather than it being proportional, given your idea is to make them extremely resilient. Any other rules that scale with HP will also be affected.
I don't know why you'd ignore hit locations, I'd at the very least keep them purely for the wound and to hit modifiers and RP potential.

Instead, these are the things I'd suggest:
>Survivable Guns (Pyramid 3/44)
Rifle damage is absurd in GURPS. It's scaled to armor penetration rather than injury, and to quote the article: "it’s arguable whether being hit by a rifle bullet in the torso is really is two to three times more lethal than being run through by a sword".
The rules in that article keep rifles just as effective against body armor (which is what the rules were designed for) while halving their damage numbers against characters less excessive. There are no real downsides.
>Stun Points (Power-Ups 9)
This is very similar to what you were angling for: In addition to HP, players have SP equal to N times HP. PU9 suggests 5xHP. When the character takes damage, it comes off their SP, with 1/Nth of that (round DOWN) being taken off HP. Unconsciousness is automatic at 0 SP. Because SP isn't HP, all the rules that scale to HP aren't affected by you adding, say, 9xHP in SP on top of the character's HP.

My man, boardgames are something you can play whereas 95% of RM is just descriptive stuff that cannot be interacted with during the "game"

I've been messing around a bit with an OSR-style GURPS, which would include a generated hexcrawl, dungeoncrawls, and rolling for initial stats with a 75-point budget.

The idea is you take your 3d6 and roll in order for the four main attributes (each starting at 10) - taking the lowest die roll with an addition of a fudge dice to give you the modifier (+, -, and blank keeps the stat at 10). You then adjust your point budget. I'm still stuck on how to bring in more OSR elements for traits.

There's DF16 for the hexcrawl, but I don't quite like the rules from what I've seen :o I much prefer sticking to Basic Set GURPS rather than DF.

you fucking take that back, you filthy heretic!
the excelsior project WAS a success. TNG warp 10 is about tOS warp 15-18. and the warp scale re-defined co-incided with the excelsior project, so whilst it DID NOT provide a working transwarp system
(even the borg in TNG only had a transwarp network because they built fucking macroscalar engineering projects in the form of transwarp conduit gates)

the excelsiors massive nacelles, hugely increased warp coils and the sheer engine power of how much warp plasma she could generate, helped her lead science into the re-done warp scale, finding far better, more efficient ways of doing warp.

AND, you ingrate, whilst the connie was a heavy Cruiser, the excelsior entered service a Battleship. being over twice the size of a connie.

Shangri-La is obviously a connie, but rebuilt or redesigned heavily to slant the entire purpose towards combat. a science or exploration vessel she aint. she is clearly a torpedo spitting death machine with all those extra toooooooobs.

The top deck right now is white/red and the follower alternates between blue/black Kaito, green/white rabbits and then the various faggotry control decks. Then you get to Vivi (which is actually a best of 3 deck it doesn't perform in standard best of 1 that the majority of people play).
Monowhite life gain is characteristic of lower ranks where it is by far the most dominant deck which is why your dumb ass keeps running into it. Play monogreen poison or green/black poison to get out of the lower ranks, then once you're past 90% Mythic you can try something else.
The best ranking deck is artifact printer btw. but that requires a bunch of rares.

>Maybe this is nothing new, but I don't remember ever seeing this ten years ago.
It's a very old thing that came back in fashion because it got cheap. Early on, you needed more money to print cards. But think Warhammer 40k 2e, Clan War, Deadlands, etc. There's always been a trickle of games with cards, Kickstarter and Chinese slave labor made it a flood.
>Pros
Cards always use a dependent probability (what comes next is influenced by what came last) and the designer can skew them as they see fit
Likewise, wargear cards automatically place a limit (in theory) on duplicate items. Can be a balance thing
Hidden information and resource storing. Kensei did this particularly well. Cards can also be used as objective markers, pre-assigned treasure stashes, and the like
They add feelies and another place for art or story elements in a game, and can increase a box's perceived value. Even if the game only uses a regular deck of playing cards, custom decks are a common impulse purchase (see: Blood and Plunder, Deadlands, et. al.)
Quick reference to rules without opening the book

>Cons
For scummy creators, they're a great gacha/chase element. It's one of the ways Xwing and Armada pumped sales numbers; put critical cards for one ship into another box, especially cards you "need" multiples of. And of course that ship works best with some stuff from box #3..
Cards physically degrade very quickly, especially if you need to shuffle them multiple times per game. They're relatively easy to lose and often difficult to replace
It's extremely hard to effectively errata a card without a new print run, and using errata with them interrupts gameplay constantly. You might as well just have a table at that point. This bit Xwing in the ass.
Cards inevitably slow down setup and teardown: they usually also drag down gameplay, especially if there are a lot of rules on each card. They add a lot of "churn", so people can feel like they're doing more even with a shallow set of rules

I noticed some shadokesh models on the WGA release schedule. How many different boxes of shadokesh did dreamforge games produce back in the day? I like the sleek and lanky look these guys had.

You left out all their filler games. Dr'af can take as little as 10 centimeters by 1 meter and 30 minutes per meter.

Tourney tcg and lcg players always find something to be arse-pained about. Seems like even the kitchen table approval was hesitant though, now I will have to read the spoiler when I am properly awake.

Speaking of TTS, I have been contemplating whether getting the Three Kingdoms Redux dlc will be forbidden cthonic knowledge forever scraping my brain and scratching into my skull— "reprint never ever."
Rate this torment from 1-10.

Yeah, the sea thing honestly just needs to be house ruled. Double the damage he receives at sea and it will be fine, something actually used in emergencies or trickery, not hiding out for 6 turns straight.

No idea, sorry.

Roads and Boats doesn't take that much space either, though. And you can replace the thing you draw roads on with your spare notepad and some scissors.

Never buy DLCs for Tabletop Simulator until they actually fix all the spaghetti code. Use something like CreamAPI or it's offshoots.
As for "reprint never ever", yeah that sucks but at some point you learn to live with the pain.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to TSR-era D&D, derived systems, and compatible content.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons as played in the game's first decade — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching meta-plots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started.

The chest being only on 5' of chain changes it and makes it interesting to move away from the spikes.
Details are good, they're what players use to play the game in an engaging way.

It's mixed in with culture war shit, it's why they won't make their own thread. And that they've tried several times and we see that
>No one plays 2nd ed
>No one plays nusr except mothership
So they death grip here and fuck everything up out of spite.

Anything is better than the Gaysic Expert's Weapon Class system where you use THACO and also calculate if the weapon gets mods or not.

>look into this
>it's just ODnD/Chainmail

Why do you think someone else invented this?
