You're saying that like I'm supposed to be embarrassed about it, I don't know why. People learn idioms and expressions from others, dude. There's no reason to *lie* about that, so praising me for being honest is ridiculous. You sound like a paranoid schizo; nobody has any reason to lie to you.
>>
>>97389021
I'm not opposed to risk but considering you have to make a rouse check to wake up, appear alive, and use any discipline beyond the first dot: the game is literally just setting you up for failure. To even perform the basics already puts you at potentially 3 hunger before leaving your haven since the last dot doesn't go away unless you fully drain a victim. It doesn't feel like I'm taking a risk. It feels like I'm just waiting for RNGzus to tell me I spazzed out while driving and decided to reenact Death Race 2000.
>>
>>97388338
Are you retarded? This terminology predates everything that has anything to do with Paracuck. V1/V2/VR/V20 is in use because it designates it as Vampire, as opposed to, say, M20, or C20. Don't be a mongoloid.

>>97388407
>I like V5
Unironic slop-sucking retard. Take your shitty setting and shove it up your ass.

>>97390935
>If the player doesn't act like a vampire, isn't roleplaying like he's a vampire
Then you don't play with Vampire with him, retard.
>>
>>97391433
Well since people have been saying it since the 90s you've had plenty of time to hear it.
>>
>>97390935
>>97393201
You both are aware that you're dealing with downsides everywhere while you're playing these games anyway right? Just because someone gets to use vampiric super powers doesn't mean he doesn't have to feed it off eventually or he gets unstable, on top of dealing with sunlight, the social consequences of being a starving drooling beast, etc. Yeah if someone wants to just be a Morbius that wouldn't be fun but, but there's plenty of mechanics even in oWoD to make sure that doesn't happen. A player can't simultaneously feed and spam constantly, have a high self-control character, have good stats, and have decent disciplines.

Every splat deals with their own bullshit too, there was no need to add shit like rage dice to Werewolf (although, I actually like hunger and rage dice) and they get angry enough. There was no need to make Crinos the mentally unstable murdergooner form even more than it was. Mages already have to deal with Paradox for trying to be superheroes as well as the attention of things that are looking for them, Wraith is depressing enough etc. Yes you can play these stats as X but Superhero, but the game has enough avenues to punish disregarding your needs like that without trying to give the player CBT for existing. Some might say that a riskier system is more fun to engage with and forces players to actually balance spending resources, which is fair enough a take. I personally just think it's very against player agency and ruins the fantasy of vampire if you're forced to feed almost every day. The logistics of that just don't add up to me, a vampire is like a capable social predator and I can't see that panning out if they have to spend effort trying to feed daily while maintaining the masquerade and doing their weird politics.

We have all experienced the coming and going so GMs, Players and games; and then left holding the bag too start all over again at Square One.
If and when you have to start over from scratch how and where (online) would you start I'll look for groups and games?
There has been numerous reasons that would force someone to start all over again be it scheduling, life, work, people changing.

I play with my friends rather than randos, so I've never had to experience this and likely won't ever have to experience this since all of my friends have lives and work jobs and we play around their schedules.

If I ever reached that point I'd probably just drop the hobby all together, because I'm not here for MUH COMMUNITY or MUH HOBBY or whatever collectivist garbage you faggots whine about, I'm here to play a game with my friends.

I know GW shills are gonna be mad after reading this, but... when did you realize that busy, overdesigned models are NOT fun to paint and that miniature design peaked 20 years ago?

>>
It's hard to say it's an exclusively GW thing when most 3d modellers put even more detail than GW on their models. There's definitely demand for it.
>>
>>97393423
some models are bit much these days.

but a lot of them are just really good and much better than anything they could do before.
the new CSM legionaries are much better than the old ones. GSC Neophytes look better than any plastic kit they had back in the day.
>>
it only bothers me when it's the basic footsloggers
also designs 20 years ago were busy as fuck too as much as fakegrogs like to pretend otherwise
>>
Painting the rogal dorn tank was no fun for me because of all the details, also meant there was no room for decals. Felt very restrictive.
>>
>>97393423
as someone starting out i feel like the heavily trimmed and detailed models make it more difficult to learn the basics like blending and volumetric highlighting because every surface is broken up and the small details don't leave enough room for a beginner to grow beyond a simple shade&highlight. i like the plain primaris marines for this reason, lots of large simple surfaces for me to practice the basics. i'm building a rather plain contemptor dreadnought for that same reason.

This is fundamentally wrong, and is something Tolkien struggled to reconcile for literally decades. There is absolutely no doubt that the orcs were ontologically evil, and he made statements to that effect repeatedly.

The sticking point that dishonest mongoloids and/or abject retards such as yourself - pick your poison - fail to understand is that in the UNSENT and DELIBERATELY WITHHELD letter that is always referenced, the question was very specific, from a philosemitic christard point of view, which is whether orcs are *irredeemable* or not.

In the Semitic mythos as interpreted by Catholics, this has specific meaning, and Tolkien conceived Middle-Earth as a hypothetical lost historical reconstruction of the real pre-Christian world. As creatures of Arda - and creation - orcs must be redeemable according to Tolkien's mythos.

But being redeemable doesn't mean that you're not evil, or that you haven't been evil in the past. It doesn't even mean that you're not ontologically evil. It just means that you can, at some point, at the fullness of time, through the power of the desert storm-god of the Jews, be redeemed, and become free of sin, and, at that point, have your very substance changed, if necessary.

At no point does Tolkien's world-view prevent ontologically Evil races or the existence of races that are perverted or twisted in such a way that they are prone to behaviour that will inevitably mark them as Evil, nor did he ever voice anything other than that this was applicable to the orcs. His world-view would, however, likely require them to be redeemable, and while I have no doubt that Tolkien himself would understand this difference and be able to explain it, it is important to remember, again, that he deliberately chose to not voice his opinion regarding this, possibly because he understood - as you so aptly demonstrate - that most people would not be able to understand the fucking difference, because they are fucking stupid.

Reconsider suicide.
>>
I don't like Tolkien all that much, desu. I appreciate the craft and the the time he took with his world, but the themes and viewpoints in it, feel wrong and many are anti-ethical. I'm sorry, but I will never see him as this holy cow that some nerds see him as.

Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?

Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. But feel free to talk about any game you've had experience with.

Liver rook takes are good unless you've got something else available. Generally if I could get a check in a move or two I would hold the knight but without the foresight to follow up you're just missing out on a free rook. Under 1000 elo I'd say take the rook unless you're happy to choke a game while you learn more. Oddly, puzzles can be good for this kind of thing as well.
Looking at it (god I wish we could pause these) you could have also checked with Bf7 then moved your queen up but black would likely have taken Qxh8 and recovered material without a solid follow through. It's hard knowing how good your opponent can see into the future.

I love that
>If transferring the fetus from a woman's womb to an artificial uterus is possible, the choice to terminate a pregnancy in this way could provide an alternative to aborting the fetus
is being presented as some kind of knotty ethical dilemma.

Like I support abortion rights even though I'm less keen on the ethics of it because I believe in bodily autonomy, but how can providing an alternative that wouldn't require terminating a pregnancy be a bad thing? A suspicious person might think women are simply horrified at the notion parental rights might be fully equalized and a father could choose to continue a pregnancy by artificial means over the mother's objections and then saddle her with child support for it...

Okay, now subtract theatre take(~40%), production costs(a billie), and marketing costs(another billie) - so generously the Disney Trilogy made a half billion in profit. Let's ignore the countless landfills full of discarded unwanted Sequel merch around the world and pretend that brought in the same, giving them a billion total profit. In ten years. From an IP they paid *4 billion* to own. An IP they bought on the understanding it would remain what it had always previously been: a license to print money.

Anyone who believes that's a success, that it's even remotely what Disney envisioned when they purchased the IP, or that it isn't a colossal failure and mismanagement is just a fucking retard. An actual, clinical, special needs type motherfucker.

Oh and don't try to invoke Disney+, which has cost them 10 billion in losses since its inception, only became profitable in 2024, and since then has only generated a few hundred million in profit from their *entire* catalogue(and you can guarantee ~90% of their subs are coming from parents wanting to plonk their kids in front of Princess movies so Star Wars has fuck all to do with it).
>>
>>97391003
>Do they really think female Custodians are going to bring in a massive amount of new fans and new money?
Yes, it doesn't really matter what it's the logic behind the decision someone convinced someone else that this is a financially good decision and the rest is history.
Whatever it does bring money or not doesn't matter, what matters is that right now they think that it could bring money.
And if you think that GW wouldn't destroy everything that they have built before for a chance to make more money I suggest you to look at what happened with fantasy
>>
>>97392791
Just mildly irritated by the debasement of the ip. I'd already stopped buying their minis when they did the "Warhammer is for everyone" bullshit.

What I want definitely fits the setting. Whitewall's one of the major powers of the North and one of the great cities of Creation - it being bigger than Chanta, but not bigger than Halta as a whole, doesn't seem like a problem on any level. Neither does Halta having population comparable to the Haslanti League. In fact, Halta and the Haslanti having comparable numbers seems just about right to me. Both are big deals in their parts of the world but not Direction-wide, and both are advanced civilizations thriving in conditions where one generally wouldn't expect civilization to thrive. Them being roughly equally populous and powerful is fine. As for Kirighast, I didn't address it because I didn't feel like complaining about another nation's numbers. I'll just say that Halta's not the only instance of WW writers showing poor sense of scale and absolutely no consideration for the fact that Creation's not the 21st century world. East generally has pretty sensible population numbers, though, with Great Forks being a big deal with its three quarters of a million inhabitants and so on. Linowan, too, are perfectly sensible, with population of Rubylak being counted in tens of thousands rather than hundreds of thousands. Halta in 1E and 2E is grossly out of scale with its surroundings, and what I'm suggesting would make it a better fit, not a worse one, for the rest of the East.

Yes, anon. Haslanti's fuckhuge area-wise and respectable population-wise, it's got major cities, it's technologically advanced, it might not matter that much to be a big deal in that part of the world because Far North doesn't have that much going on, but it's still a big deal. Haslanti are also more active and therefore more have more of an impact outside their own borders than the Haltan are.

Anon... nothing actually fits the setting, not even the titular exalted, the setting setting is a thrown together mess only kept together by the promise of "epic fantasy involving demigods".
Trying to find logic in it will drive you insane, since the writers aren't structuralists, they are pantsters.

That's just a true statement, I am very certain a point was to make sure you can't. By default, a "full-round action" to move in 2e is far more freeing, if less multiplicative than a full Run/Charge in 1e. But I also think neither game was ever trying to be Exalted, there are diminishing returns to high degrees of athleticism on both player and GM. You can only make a mountain so high, especially for the one person that builds for it in your campaign. And unless you houserule how move actions work to work like they do in D&D5e, you not only waste all your additional movement as you can't skirmish, you lose out on other full-round actions.

Nothing in 2e is supposed to be as easy to accomplish in 1e. Either it is meant to be more an investment to compensate for the streamlining of core systems, or not applicable at all because they are two different games and have two different balancing points.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've been out of the loop for a long while so I want to know: How different is Imperium Maledictum from the "old " Fantasy Flight Games RPGs (DH/RT/DW/BC)?
From looking around, IM seems to be a streamlined version of the old rule set, but with way less content.

It depends entirely on what sort of the stuff the noble was collecting and how you want to portray Trazyn in your campaign, there's no real consistency to what he collects outside of it being something that caught his eyes. If you want the dickass kleptomaniac plotline, Trazyn might just take the entire collection alongside the nobleman himself to create a diorama in his gallery.
It's also just as likely that he might take the noble back to his planet with him to show him his own collection, if he feels that the noble is also another connoisseur/archivist who appreciates history.
>>
>>97393870
That's about the long and short of it. It's deliberately designed to be much shallower. Some of its mechanics are neat, and others are irritating, and some are both. Take flat weapon damage, adding DoS, or whatever their name for it is. Simplifies and streamlines a lot of combat, but also means the amount of significantly different weapons you can make is far more limited, because everything's damage code is basically the same. There's no weighing the difference between another d10 and another 5.5 damage, and they've compressed the amount of armor you can reasonably get to make the one-point damage differences from success levels meaningful.

So my DND group was kind of disolving, 2 out of the 4 players left because of life issues (one got a job abroad and the other one is dealing with life), to keep playing we incorporated 2 new players with not so much experience but avid watchers of Critical Role.

One of these player conditions was that we incorporate x cards to the game, she says that it makes it much more comfortable for her to know she can avoid unpleasant story elements having this tool.

I started to read a bit about it online and is this something you guys have used? In my 20 years playing I've never used this.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Kill yourself, fishnigger. But also, for the record:
1) This is not even a particularly slow general. Check out how long the current /3eg/ has been up.
2) Yes, your autistic spammed one-line astroturf questions are worse than no posts.

If you think he's bad now, you should have seen some time ago, when for one or two years for some unknown reason all of his trolling comments would be left up, while every comment talking negatively about AD&D 2e and even most infographics about O/A/B/X/D&D would be deleted on sight. At some point, even the newbie guides were being deleted, after being left up untouched for over a year. Looking back at that period of time, it's kinda glorious that we made it through.

Sounds good.
Addendum: I've never used encumbrance rules before, but I think I'm going to in my newly-resurrected game, so my players have more decisions to make.
Thoughts on Carcass Crawler's item encumbrance? It makes more intuitive sense to me, but I don't really like the "3 items max for an 18 str guy...

I don't think they're the best, but they're okay. What matters however is that you do use some form of encumbrance rules. Whatever works at your table is fine.

I think it's fine without cacti, the ground looks like some places near where I am in Australia (so no cacti).
I think you should define a path or creek running through the middle of the larger base, that little channel in the middle looks perfect for something like that. It would help break up the solid orange colour and provide some visual interest.

post pics of both with the voidweaver so we can get a better look at it.
