>>97399896>single blood brotherPoor fucker. >>97399905Opportunity cost. If you're going to groom your childer for the embrace (and not every sire does, since many want their childer dependent and not a threat to them), there may be other priorities for what to improve about your childe, and with physical attribute increases via bloodbuff being a universal power, physical strength is fairly low on the priority list. After all, wait too long to embrace them and no amount of training could make up for aging. You could ghoul them, but then every moment they're training is a moment not spent earning their monthly blood by doing shit for you. Which is not to say it would never happen. I could see a Brujah big into the clan's history of athleticism trying to create a physical beast BEFORE the embrace to give them a jumping off point. Or a Tzimisce trying to get as much raw muscle mass on their childer's body for maximum vicissitude resources.

I really came around to the Deathrattle models despite generally liking the old skellies better from the angle they are representations of Old/Ancient Shyish culturally. Wish there was more, I figure there would have to be gods before Nagash that the living of Shyish worshipped before he cemented his rule.
Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Why is it suddenly a problem if the world is modern? What's wrong with wanting a modern setting with original races, cultures, religions, geographies, or whatever?
>>97394601The same way God did. Brains and genes.
Historically, a woman might have given birth to six children only for three to reach adulthood, with most deaths occurring during the first year. It was common for 40% to 50% of children to die before reaching puberty.Maternal mortality was equally prevalent. It is estimated that the number of women who died in childbirth rivaled the number of men who died in wars. In many peaceful eras, childbirth was actually more lethal to the female population than combat was to the male population. Before modern medicine, roughly 1 in 100 to 1 in 150 births resulted in the mother’s death. Because women had multiple pregnancies—often six to ten—their cumulative lifetime risk of dying in childbirth was as high as 1 in 10 or 1 in 20. In many cultures, children weren't named until they were a year old.Because the risk was so omnipresent, many cultures treated pregnancy with a solemnity that reflected the possibility of death. In many European traditions, women would go to confession or take the Eucharist before labor, often settling their affairs and drafting wills. If they survived, it was celebrated with a formal ceremony of thanksgiving. How would a fantasy setting tackle it? Let the childhood mortality be as high despite the presence of magic? Have healing magic be rare? Perhaps magic not having figure out how to deal with childbirth because of the two souls problem? Have magic solve the issue with the resulting population explosion? Have monsters/spirts that target children and pregnant women? Have lethality much higher than real life because monsters actively hunt humans?

https://2e.aonsrd.com/creatures/60-emissar-angel>Emissars, or propaganda angels, are a divine embodiment of radical hope and the celestial answer to information warfare. Some emissars spring from the sainted souls of revolutionary leaders or celebrities who used their platforms to help people in life, having been transformed into a celestial in their afterlife. Others spontaneously form out of the condensed faith and desires of a movement or ideal.>Emissar angels take on the role of celestial spin doctors and political organizers, inspiring their allies to rally together and keep pushing toward a goal even when defeat seems inevitable. Emissars often support mortal causes that align with their own beliefs and goals, and while they always hope to change hearts with an inspiring speech or an act of radical kindness, emissars aren't afraid to fight for what they believe in—no matter the cost to themselves. As soon as a battle ends, their first priority is caring for their allies and saving any enemies who might be swayed to join the cause. While their allies usually appreciate their unshakable hope and upbeat attitude, their opponents resent what can be construed as the emissars' toxic positivity and comforting lies.
Genuine question as someone that's played 5e for 8 years, played 3 campaigns of PF2e, and played OSE.Is PF1e playable? Like can I pick up and run it semi quickly? How do I run it so me and my friends play it in the most playable state? I want something that runs well on foundry and is like a normal dungeon crawling game.
>>97399548I don't expect all options to be equal, so the fact that they buffed it, Chalice, and Mirror at all is already a win. Thaum doesn't really need anything. The Psychic stuff is inexcusable and makes me worried for Runesmith and Necromancer. All their releases for like the last year+ have felt weirdly half assed and filled with errors or things needing clarification. 90% of the Draconic Codex spells could have used another pass either for clarity or being unprintable garbage. Then they don't even put out errata? I'm more surprised when things end up being good these days.
>>97399355So like...does Paizo just hate Mark Seifter and anything he worked on? I don't know how you can view a class that E V E R Y O N E has complained about in some way and fashion, and think it needed to be NERFED in multiple ways. They couldn't even give it a triple focus point refresh as part of the core progression, it's still a feat. This isn't even page space concerns, the Psychic was always a numerical issue over a design one (albeit Unleash Psyche could use a rework). And you made the numbers worse?? Do they just think that 2e needs its own 1e Shifter, a class so painfully dysfunctional and never can get anything good??Hey, is that Potential Man dude still around? I think you win, won't stop your spam anymore...>>97399624Ehhh. You gotta learn and there's plenty of awkwardness built into the system like how Full-Round Attacks work, but it is playable. Would recommend Elephant in the Room to get it in its most playable state, and maybe shop around for homebrew like Legendary Games or Dreamscarred Press's work if some class/archetypes don't quite scratch the itch.
>>97295203"Grond" is the name I'm going with. Descended from a stone giant who was struck with a curse for his arrogance to become flesh and blood.Half-stolen/inspired, obviously, by actual wow lore. They're a MEDIUM ancestry but have an option to be large, and another option to obviously have two-heads since that's a cool thing for them. I'm still debating whether they're large or medium, actually. Thinking of feats as well that reference them being stone-like, but I don't want to copy the dwarf ones. A trance/meditation one, maybe, where they curl up into a ball like a goron?

>>97395305I personally wasn't the greatest fan of Heresy and Phantom Arc / Alone Again. Though the latter have fanservice out the wazoo as it has a big focus on Chirico's pals from the original TV show. That's the part I actually enjoyed a fair bit - they're too lovable. The reason I didn't like these OVAs in general was that they kind of 'squandered' the original show's ending. It doesn't even matter what they are in particular, just that there exists a long history of common use for particular things with logically possible members even if we live in a world precluding extant members. Because it is these common uses, plural, that Elfgame rules draw from to define how to handle varyingly-accurate analogues of those historic uses so that them being real within the counterfactual context can be covered by the game.

>>97396497I have that too. It's especially egregious and annoying to Me because in this part of the world, humans are the most dominant species and often discriminate against "subhumans".This has led to situations where My players will help out a dwarf family in one session, then have some noble lord ask them to slaughter an innocent tiefling woman in the next, and they don't bat an eye at the contradiction. In fact, they make themselves friendly and amicable with the dwarf, but act like tieflings are secretly running the world when the nobleman makes his request. Then they spend the night in a tavern owned by a dragonborn.I've cracked down a bit on this; if they're going to play racist characters, they have to commit. If not, they have to commit to that too. I don't care if they choose one or the other, but I find the flip-flopping, hypocrisy, and double standards extremely annoying to put up with.

Happy that you gave some details about how your game goes but hope your idiot filter doesn't become standard practice. We an air of verisimilitude and even as heroes try to act reasonably in a reasonable setting. If the proverbial town guard comes along we trust that it's not a death sentence from the DM. Things do depend upon the characters with the lawful characters tending to submit or direct attention to other issues or argue their way out of things and the neutral characters more likely to actively resist or run. It also depends upon how the character as developed, not just playing to alignment which we try to do but how the personality of the character has developed. When were in a Traveller based military campaign we followed orders, no war crimes were committed. Even within the group with my character as the officer the other players played along and took orders as given. As adventuring heroes and most playing lower levels we as a rule haven't had all that much to do with higher ups. When I was DMing an oriental campaign the guys did a good job, apart from the ninja guy, of following social hierarchy and listening to the local daimyo. The ninja guy just wanted to play a rogue, no as in renamed thief class but as in someone who just didn't want to follow the rules which is contrary to ninja rules and he was probably going to die from losing honour and being hunted down. The samurai guy was LN and his player very interested in maintaining standards of not!Oriental decorum and he reacted very appropriately.>>97395290Why should he reply to them?
