Lgs gripe thread?>if you have bluk for people to go through, either go off tcg player, or have a minimum price per card>do not do bothAll you are doing is making me not want to buy from you when i have to wait for you to scam them on your phone and then charge me almost twice what your phone said
>please put prices on your stuff. I should have to sit and wait for you to look up Catan on ebay or whatever to see if it's magically become $100 before you let me buy it.
>if you are going to charge me to use the tables, give me a bag of chips or something for free>there are three other game stores in the area that don't charge for table space give me a reason not to go to them
I quit playing at my local store because they would only charge dnd players to use the tables.Magic players? Tabletop players? War gamers? Come on in have a seat no charge.Dnd players? That'll be $5 a person.I asked the store owner about it and he said it was because they were officially sanctioned by wizards of the coast. My guy i guarantee you that my dms story about harvesting slimes because they are his world's replacement for weed is not a official event.
>>97212226If you are an official WotC D&D spot, they require you to buy a bunch of shit for organized play events as well as other odds and ends. Often, there aren't enough players to cover the cost of those OP event materials, so smaller LGS spread the cost to all D&D players by having them all buy table space. Your thought is probably "Why don't they just not be an official spot then?" (Mine was) and that's because you have to agree to be one for X amount of time. You find out your draw is a fraction of what you expected, you still have to keep paying. It's one of those situations where it's best not to get involved with WotC in an official capacity. Games Workshop has some dumb fuck requirements too which is why small stores that start doing WH stuff might have heaps of shit they can't unload because local markets don't want to spend that much on WH stuff but they have to keep buying it anyway.Gameshops often do better by avoiding getting involved with WotC or GW in any official capacity if they are smaller joints. Then again, game shop owners are usually (not always) some of THE dumbest mother fuckers on the face of the planet.
>>97212056God, this. Just fucking have a price. If I have to check prices online I'm gonna BUY online you stupid fat fuck.
>author adapts his D&D campaign into a well-written, highly-entertaining animated seriesWhy has nobody done this since?
Idk why you people here hate on isekais and fantasy junk so hard. For the past decade or so I've read most of them that found their way onto aggregator sites and for what they are I loved them. I even branched out and started reading shitty korean and chinese stories made in paint.exe or something. There is value in them.I've been a maladaptive daydreamer my entire life and these are just fueling it. I read a chapter scroll through get some slight inspiration then escape my life for an afternoon.Fantasy fuel / daydream fuel is all they need to be.Yeah they are "trash" if you want depth, but fuck depth, I hate depth. Depth is reality and reality is dogshit. If you want reality read politics or ww2 bullshit history why bother with fantasy for that? Why do people want drama shit like game of thrones in their fantasy?I'm shocked they are getting anime adaptations all the time that is for sure, but who cares. I don't watch anime anyways. I can imagine the moving pictures myself, at my own pace and leisure.Genuinely, what the fuck is causing the hate for it? If you enjoy steak, do you have to spend your time hating on mcdonalds?Ever heard of having fun?
>>97213758It's cause they ran out of most of the exceptional ones and have been adapting all the really shallow ones from Narou for ages. It's the same as all those shitty slice of life shows that were all the rage, then the dbz clones. For every Ascendance of a Bookworm, there's half a dozen "My ability is overpowered" basic bitch stories. Or worse. It's not about hating fun, bad stories can be forgiven if they're at least trying to step out of the mold they were made from. It's about hating works that don't even TRY to put their own spin on shit and still being shat out.
I agree that most isekai are soulless crap, devoid of artistry and character. There are some exceptions, tho.Of the more recent ones, I remember these being good:- mushoku tensei: good art by today's standards, good story development, funny&serious at the same time- handyman saitou: it's different any way you look at it. give it a try. Then there are all the golden oldies by AIC and Sunrise:-El-Hazard-Magic Knight Rayearth-The Vision of Escaflowne -basically everything that came before y2k+1d6 is acceptable

The previous comments about her talents had me looking at the build harder and i think theres places where I can clean it up and make it more cohesive. >>97211658What chart are you referring to? As for the question, maybe she outwardly claims that she annoyed a certain uncle or auntie who posted her there, in truth she applied to be transferred to the front as she has a paranoid feeling that the clan is getting ready to axe her if she doesn't show more merit.>>97211324I should have specified that this number is mutable. I don't mind fudging her age a couple years up or down if it make something else work better for someone else. >>97209658I really like the general theme of the build but like the other anons pointed out the timeline is a bit fucky. I envisioned Haoran having a normal early childhood but it being uprooted by her father's rebellion at like age 5-7. I also like the idea of her mother being a causality of his rebellion if you're cool with that.

>>97213725To give that Slaan some credit, Thanquol's attempt to summon a Verminlord to take Karak Angkul didn't go so much sideways as it went completely tits up when his botched summoning circle ended up dragging out Skarbrand from the Warp, who proceeded to mulch both the Skaven and Dwarf armies before barely being cut down himself, leaving Thanquol to wash his hands of the whole thing and walk away while blaming Queek Headtaker. Ever had to say fuck it this is above our paygrade, and just bail from a dungeon?I get that GM probably put some amount of effort into preparing it and skipping the place would put that to waste, but when the very first encounter makes it painfully obvious pushing on would be suicidal, nobody can really blame the party for doing literally anything else, right?

If you don't have pauldron blades and at least 4 weapons, are you really a fighter?
>>97213681>Still that being said, the warrior who focuses on his singular weapon of choice is a fun and awesome warrior to play, just you can't often do that in adventuring parties. Those warriors need the many different weapons.I've seen the opposite more often. In many TTRPGs, Specialization rules and magical item dependencies make using anything but a single type of weapon non-viable. 3.X D&D was memed about for "forcing" Fighters to carry around a "golf bag" of the same weapon type made of different materials (Silver, Adamantite, Cold Iron, campaign specific materials etc.) in order to bypass various forms of DR.
>>97213723That is what all the various feats, prestige classes, and friends were for.If you did not have a buffer on your team that someone dropped the ball. Also, I am confident there is a enchantment somewhere that allowed a weapon to shift between types that it could mimic. Might be thinking Pathfinder though.
>>97213737>That is what all the various feats, prestige classesThose were the source of the specialization rules which along with wealth by level that messed up the generalist Fighter. >If you did not have a buffer on your team that someone dropped the ball.Buffs from Casters didn't really help when all a Fighter's character resources were force focused on mutually exclusive specialized builds that were needed to be effective.>Also, I am confident there is a enchantment somewhere that allowed a weapon to shift between types that it could mimic. Might be thinking Pathfinder though. That reeks of Pathfinder. Notice a problem and then patch it by adding another feat or enchantment that costs additional resources to get.
>>97213775Well, to be completely honest, 3.X fighters, while better than fighters of previous editions at being interesting and good investments of effort, always lacked pure breadth of ability. They were never supposed to be omni-efficient. Just good enough in every situation to be useful. Specialization was required to be great at something and specialization required investment and giving up something on the elsewhere.Just a fact of how you played the game. You wanted universal usage, you went a caster and changed up your spells to match the challenge and the resources you had available. So if you wanted to be good at demonfighting you gave up your ability to kill angels or good aligned creatures. Hell, you would probably give up your ability to kill some form of other type of monster, like say dragons, or undead, to be able to maximize you ability to kill demons.Had a build that could hit a Balor 4 times a round(95% chance for all the attacks) with 18D6+some absurd extra damage that was in the triple digits, of various types of damage that got through all its resistances. They build sacrificed a lot of general utility to achieve that, but it could kill multiple balors a round. You are not supposed to be great at everything. [Despite what they did with Wizards and Clerics]
>>97207762Pauldron core is shit but multiple weapons is cool, hard to really come to a conclusion. Warcraft is maybe one of the lamest things to happen to fantasy art direction, but also the character design in this particular manga is pretty lame too

>>97212653It's quick to calculate and remember while being very granular, gives weapons a maximum range (beyond certain distance the penalty is too big for anyone to hit as there's no auto-hitting crits), makes distance the most signifcant factor unless you're a crack shot, and the overall preferred distances for weapons seem to line up reasonably enough to not break the suspension of disbelief.Basically I want autistic but quick and it seems to fit the bill, but the earliest I'll be able to playtest it with my group will be in April or something.
>>97212689You've listed me the features of your ruleset.I asked what's the gain of having them, other than "It forces people to measure every 30 cm of distance".>autistic but quickPick oneAlso, if you are play-testing, DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, try it on people you know and/or played with. >>97213266>Pick oneNo>Also, if you are play-testing, DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, try it on people you know and/or played with. It defeats the whole fucking point of playtests.Probably good advice, but as I stated in the very first post it's a personal system as in for personal use, I don't intend to "publish" it. If it turns out to be not-shit in my own group's experience I might share it with other anons.>I asked what's the gain of having them, other than "It forces people to measure every 30 cm of distance".Nowadays I play on VTT so it's a non-issue, and even irl it wouldn't be an issue really since you can just take a ruler. Spaces/hexes are in 5 ft. increments anyway, and the system is flexible enough that you can decide on an arbitrary increment really, or just eyeball it (but I bet the players would never accept "about 100 ft." if there's a chance that the enemy is only 95 feet away). If you have ideas/suggestions for how to reach the design goals I mentioned before I'm all ears, I'm not fully satisfied with my solution anyway. One other important goal I forgot to mention though was retaining a feeling similar to F1/F2/FT games in ranged combat.

>>97206646The marauders, though formidable, were fewer than expected. Unbeknownst to their opponents, Howler's elite sharpshooters, seasoned in many battles, including those from Lancel's homeland, lay concealed in the forest, poised to target the enemy's leaders and break their morale. And with them, several crossbowmen waited for their cue. The battle was about to erupt.Meanwhile, Howler faced an internal struggle. His human self felt an inexplicable pull to obey a mysterious white entity, while his beast within raged against this compliance. Paralyzed by this conflict, he could only gaze at the enigmatic form. >What the hell are you...? He rasped, his bestial voice betraying his uncertainty about the being's intentions.

What are your experiences with in-game moral and ethical dilemmas and players saying, "At the climax of our journey, we turn around and leave"?I feel as though a lot of GMs' attempts at in-game moral and ethical dilemmas are unwittingly sabotaged by adventure inertia and players' desire to avoid saying, "At the climax of our journey, we turn around and leave."The way I usually see it structured, a bunch of antagonists stir up trouble. The PCs agree to help the locals. The party investigates some dangerous place or situation. Then, at the very end of the adventure, the PCs see that the antagonists have some vaguely justifiable reason for causing trouble. The above structure is perfectly fine (and indeed, I have used it many times myself as a GM), but where things get janky is when the antagonists sincerely plea for the PCs to just turn around and leave, and the GM earnestly expects this to be an option that should be seriously taken into consideration.I have never, ever seen this happen, for understandable reasons. Very, very few players want to say, "At the climax of our journey, we turn around and leave." It is much more common for the players and their PCs either work out a compromise with major concessions from the antagonists, beat up the antagonists, or both (i.e. beat up, restrain, work out compromise and major concessions from position of power).(Continued.)

>>97200663>What are your experiences with in-game moral and ethical dilemmas and players saying, "At the climax of our journey, we turn around and leave"?Here is the problem. You're presenting with the options of:1. Continue to play the game2. End the game early with an unsatisfactory ending. Also arguably undo all their progressLet's ignore that most people playing D&D don't really come here to deal with your philosophy and ethics 101 moral dilemmas. What you want to do is give them two (or more) options that allow the story to still keep going. Or if it's the end of the story - to choose how it ends. But the key to both of those it that it needs to be satisfying. And this is the problem with the "we turn around and leave" idea. Leaving is giving up. It's quitting. And your players didn't show up to quit. So think of a solution that's not "okay we quit" because that's never going to be the choice they make.

As a ST would you allow your changeling player (technically me) to pick some merit(s) from Mage the Ascension?I’m considering Immunity at 4: A major threat (disease, hunger, supernatural evil gook) or a moderately rare threat (poisons, extreme heat or cold, raw magic Levin bolts, death spells.).In this case it would be banality. Or the effects the Mists has on the changeling. I would also consider the two points version to grant an immunity to Bedlam. Also Long-Lived/Unaging.
>>97212420>Are there any splats in wog similar to Bastet/Kitsune in the sense that it can use a ton of powers from other splats by default? The closest thing I can recall is the Revenant Family that gets shadowlord gifts.
>>97213500>It would be Banality or the MistsI think this is probably too much for the Merit. It would be like making a Mage completely immune to Paradox as a setting equivalent. No ST would allow that because when you're just playing a superhero with no downside and no story threats to prevent you from going something like>I walk into the office building, I chat with him about the economy, and then I make him schizo out and imagine the economy runs on Bananas and KiwisWith 0 consequences
