there definitely is hyper advanced precursor tech in dying earth (including one Evil AI story, if memory serves) but most of the magic is actual magic.
I think OP is thinking more like Gene Wolfe or Linda Nagata where all the mysterious forces are just the compounded wreckage of a thousand previous technological civilizations.
>>
>>97353409

To be fair in Wolfe's case it was more like "it actually was clearly scifi all along and you couldn't understand it".
At least I THINK so. Man, those were some good books, but not the easiest.

About a decade ago we got a rumour that the Primarchs would come back (before it actually started happening).
Part of that rumour was that one loyalist would turn traitor and one traitor would become a loyalist.
So who's it gonna be?

So are Witcher signs like runes or are they hand gestures?
I only played Witcher 3 and from what I could tell they seemed more like simple hand gestures used to cast relatively weak magic, but quickly and without incantations. The actual symbols used for them seem more rune-based and the gestures used typically draw the symbols.

Asking because I don't know if I can merge Witcher signs into the general rune/glyph build of my Jumper or if it's something unrelated.

Why the insistance of comparing magic with engineering, when in many settings a wizzard acts way more like a lawyer?
>needs to know how to adress and talk the language of the demons/ghosts
>needs to be able to make pacts with devils
>able to decipher incomprehensible rules and stipulations, which are often archaic, counter intuitive or evencontradictory
At least thats how i rationalise the "basic spells". Want to cast fireball? Thats the equivalent of getting a fishing license. Want to do something unique? Well thats like trying to get a building license in a nature reserve. It MIGHT be possible if all stars align, but might fail with no obviois mistake on your part.

As an alternative i could present dungeon meshi. Gnome mages are mediators who convince the magic to do their bidding. While Elf magic, in dungeon meshi, is more akin to programming.
>but programming is science!
I am not sure if i would invite skyrim nude modders to a science convention

I’ve always considered law a form of magic. Just whipping out a retarded statement can delay a case for years just because of some hundred year old shit everyone forgot about. Someone even demanded a trial by combat once, not too long ago, in fucking America. State by state shit gets weirder and more esoteric. In England some village has an ancient law stating all red heads must be killed or something.

But what is law if not social engineering? That’s what Ruscoe Pound said. Law is a tool and a building block.

I'm pretty new to painting and chose Warcrow as the game to invest in. Wildly fun game but the models can be a pain in the ass to paint in my limited experience. Anyways I finished her finally. I'm new and just try to mimic the color pallet from official reference photos. I need to get better at highlighting but whenever I do it I think the model ends up looking worse. I'm now painting from Crisis protocol minis. Any tips on how to do eyes and lips?

Only newfags, find yourself some guys who were laying before CGL put rainbows on shit, it's in the very core of battletech rules (and spirit) that you can paint your mechs however you want and field any combination of mechs you want.
out of my hundreds of mechs, 6 are a "canon" scheme and even then only at a stretch as star league preferred military green, not factory grey.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: what's the best classic GURPS cover art?

90% of unofficial GURPS content now seems to just be one extremely autistic guy who is trying to stat the entire past from the carboniferous to the cold war.
Why aren't there more people like that? You can't convince me that the GURPS fanbase is lacking the necessary level of autism. There should be dozens of obsessive-compulsive loons writing up every steam locomotive, or species of butterfly, or something.

That's not to say that there weren't Roman nationalists, but they didn't win out against the Roman imperialists. The Romans complaining about Germanic senators were being nationalistic.

I did, and they told me that so long as I didn't hurt anyone or myself it wasn't anything to be concerned about. This is basically how all therapy is. "Do you want to kill yourself or someone else? If no, please stop bothering us."

This was after getting all nutrition and supplement stuff done (which combined with working out did have a side effect of actually making me WAY happier and healthier) but, no, still wanted to eat... "placenta".
Finally got to do so this year (consensually, ofc) and holy shit, it's like everything is quiet all the time now, I'm so much less highly strung, I didn't even realise how bad it was until I was out of it. So hey, if you've had a compulsion to eat long pig for most of your life and you can't fix it...

Sorry for the blogpost but I don't exactly get to talk about this often and on the Vietnamese Caligraphy Forum everyone is potentially the cannibal anon.

Both are unusual teams (Vespid with universal fly and XV28 with stealth fields)
But probably fine as long as you bear in mind that you're gonna be learning some parts of the game 'wrong'
Also be aware that Vespid suffer hard on ITD/TW boards where fly does jack shit, and XV28 are on the weaker side balance wise atm
>>
>>97364539
Vespids are unusual but work from what I've heard, because the thing that looks most obvious is often what is best to do. There is a bit of nuance to them, but you'll do completely fine going balls to the walls as long as you get to shoot before you die.
Stealth suits are a different story. I've yet to get much experience with them but they can't just trade openly like most teams and need to be very careful about distances and enemy options, on top of being vulnerable to mistakes with their few models. They're fascinating, but are a completely different game than other teams for both player and opponent.

Makes sense actually. Another question: Would Sky Galloping Gaia the Dragon be too strong for the Gx era(by itself, none of the support)
>>
>>97364169
>Without any of the support (without the singular card it searches on-summon)
No, it would not. The "GX-era" was Reaper format which was dominated by stuff like Frog Monarch, which could put out monsters that either had better stats, removal effects, or a combination of the two, and Cyber Dragon, which had some of the easiest OTK lines that could easily get over a 2600atk monster. Even with the singular card it searches, it wouldn't be very good.
>>
>>97354074
i would say play the retro formats. DO NOT touch modern. retro ygo events and online play is the most fun you'll have with this game. also collecting vintage ygo is way easier because for some reason our vintage cards arent worth much(obviously outside of the super popular cards like 1st edition 1st printings of DMG, BEWD, etc). you could also just collect reprints of these classic cards, like the legendary collection yugi/joey world. they dont have the holo stars and arguably have better foiling than the originals.

Disliking tewart and jerome's (thankfully) shitty TCG-exclusive format doesn't mean you're a fan of some faggot jewtuber, ultimately he should play whatever the fuck he wants, but introducing yourself to the game with a format strictly regulated by the 2 people who keep shitting up the franchise in this side of the world (with both awful decisions and horrible business to the consumer, because those hebrews line up their pockets with the expensive shiny cardboard they peddle practices) is madness.
>>
>>97365935
>a format strictly regulated by the 2 people
That was for what they were calling "early access". All of the future point lists will primarily be census-driven based on what's dominating in tournament settings.
