Is Warhammer 40,000 actually a misandrist/female supremacist setting? I'm just thinking about how every apparent accomplishment of the setting's major male players was actually done by a woman behind them e.g. the Emperor and Erda, Vect and Lady Malys, Angron and Lotara Sarrin, the High Lords of Terra and Morven Vahl, etc. etc.
Any experiences with this? Any recommendations for it if you have played it?
>>97395144They actually did a West Coast society-based campaign, it's called Royal Flush.
>>97395144It isn't that it's focused on survival, because it isn't. It's focused on getting random loot to cook or craft into shit. And again, the random tables that are required for that experience have been placed into a separate product in order to make you spend more money. I'm not interesting in playing "Fallout 76, tabletop edition," I'm interested in playing an RPG in the world of fallout. The interesting thing about fallout is not that I can hope to find 3 boxes of of Blamco Mac and Cheese so I can cook it into super Mac and cheese and get a negligible bonus for the day.
>>97395125I don't know a single thing about GURPS, my point was that virtually any game that can do post Apoc would be a better fallout game that this piece of shit.
>>97395188I haven't heard great things about it.
>>97395188And society in tabletop roleplaying does not require much in the way of explicit rules, because you can write arbitrary scripts in natural language and it revolves around using actual people to model other people.>>97395207>It isn't that it's focused on survival, because it isn't. It's focused on getting random loot to cook or craft into shit.Does it lack rules for needing food making its acquisition a non-zero pressure on the players despite the last four Fallout vidyas having it officially? If not, then what you criticize it for being "focused on" is, in fact, a gameplay loop about the demands of survival. You're certainly welcome to provide design documentation showing the intent is otherwise or explain how it's a garbage approach to it and I fully expect that to be the case, but that is a noticeably different argument from saying that it's not the wasteland-focused game being about surviving in a wasteland.>And again, the random tables that are required for that experience have been placed into a separate product in order to make you spend more money. That's a business decision, not a game design decision. You can salami-slice almost anything that that way, WotC HAS printed "A Giant Book Of Spells" and "A Giant Book Of Magic Items" that were each majority reprints. The goalpost will not be moved.>The interesting thing about fallout is not...Then what IS the interesting thing about Fallout justifying paying money for a physical book of game rules? What, specifically, would you pay money for that would not be redundant with just scraping a wiki for world information and throwing that in as the setting backdrop for an almost arbitrary system? What about that requires mechanics that could actually furnish a stable gameplay loop capable of giving consistent community touchstones?

>>97394763>Actually, they pretty much got this one right. The Triat is messed up. The Weaver, the Wyrm and the Wyld are out of balance, which is precisely why there's so much going on that's wrong. Is that what you're citing? If so, the context following the first sentence makes it clear that the Anansi are pretty much right about the Triat being out of balance. I wouldn't take this to mean that the Anansi are pretty much right about everything, especially when the same section goes on to establish that the Anansi have their own legends about Ananasa and that Ananasa often has her own beliefs about things that aren't necessarily true. The origin story for the World of Darkness that she tells even starts with the words "I believe" and considering that Ananasa is still a spirit trapped by her nature, I'm not sure that she can be relied on as a source of objective truth. She will say and do and believe whatever has to, in order to fulfil her nature.
>>97394376Shes actually the whole spirit realm. She exists throughout>>97394763Ananasa will say this because it is the Wyld that needs saving & that is more important than truth>>97394101She is a mother to the spirits & the spirits are largely fine. She is composed of/reflects the Triatic resonances & it doesn't much matter if its out of balance. Survival of the fittest sometimes means stuff dies. If Garou cant compete, then thats their problem
>>97395046>Shes actually the whole spirit realm. She exists throughoutSpeculative. At the very least, she is the spirt of the Earth and all of the Realms associated with the Earth. There is no objective confirmation that she is "the whole spirit realm." Some people in the setting might believe that she is the spirit of the Tellurian but that's hotly contested and hasn't been directly confirmed as the objective fact anywhere.People really need to accept that a whole lot of the "deep lore" of these games isn't written in stone and is open to interpretation and in many cases, is little more than speculation.
>>97389996>What is the most tubular thing to happen in your chronicle, where the Rule of Cool took over the gothic darkness for just one moment? Was running Hunter: the Vigil and my players found themselves fighting some paramilitary ghouls on a rural air strip in Mexico. One player character, a luchador with powers from God (who had zero firearms and just punched everything), jumped on the back of one of the trucks, started swinging. Eventually the off-roading combined with the fight in the back resulted in the driver hitting a rock, which sent the truck rolling. I had him roll Dex + Athletics to see if he could jump off without/with minimal injury. He got eight successes. Landed perfectly on his feet right in front of a few ghouls, who decided at that point they should run for the hills.
>>97395046>Make Garou so that they can police the more nefarious influences of the Triat because the bears are soft lads who don't like violence too much>Get mad and stop talking when they crash out because they get no guidanceI don't know bros, sounds like miscommunication to me.

Doesn't increase above that. Epic some would say
>>97395023that sounds lame for 2e, but what about the rest of the Mythic stuff?
>>973950532e's Mythic was deemed by and large a failure by most of the userbase, not for breaking the game, but for being incredibly lame. Mythic Proficiency for skills and checks basically gets "weaker" the higher level you become because it works along the same track all other types of proficiency does (essentially giving a +10 bonus instead of the +2/+4/+6/+8 track you get as you level), and also makes it so that ironically investing your mythic into things you're already good at is WORSE than investing it into things you would otherwise have no business doing, so a Wizard will do better investing their Mythic into Athletics than the Fighter will, and the Fighter will do better investing into Arcana than the Wizard, etc. Many of the feats are similarly lame, and most of them do very little to make you feel like you're able to do incredible feats that a non-mythic character could also do with a good enough roll.
>>97395053It's pretty underbaked no matter how you slice it. More functional than the 1e version, but not the Exalted power fantasy you would expect from it. The biggest issue comes from the Mythic Callings, your "Tier 1" Mythic powers being *painfully* limited in applications. Combined with the early-game feats being "nice to have" more than "lemme bend the Tarrasque like a straw", and you spend a lot of time just playing 2e normally with an occasional "official homebrew", Temu Divinity: Original Sin 2 Source Power.Once you get a Mythic Archetype and Mythic Gear, you definitely feel far more potent and more akin to the fantasy, but that's locked off to 12th-level minimum. Spellcasters are left wanting (as usual for 2e) thanks to no item runes, 2 Mythic Archetypes dedicated for them, and a poor selection of things that interact with spellcasting in general. And the RAW rules for Mythic Point regeneration, requiring you do to a "Mythic task" or crit succeed at your skills is really low.
Is it just me, or does no one really give a shit about Starfinder 2E?
