>>97382367Alright but its not Battletech related. Not even /tg/. Its /v/, my character from World of Warcraft. Four months, and the person kept expanding the scope and asking for more money, like "Oh well I've already sketched this so...?" and being the kind person I was, I did it. Again, and again, and again. I only learned when they were done that they were a furry artist and I was their first human-ish commission, and they took several weeks getting the cloak right. Which I didn't even want that fuzzy to begin with.I ended up getting a second commission of the guy and it was done within eight days. Almost $200.
>>97382458This was the secondary I commissioned during the great span between the first and its completion. He got the shoulders right. >Hey those aren't the shoulders I asked for.>Yeeah they aren't BUT don't they look cool? Hes a Death Knight, right? He needs big shoulderpads, just like that tier set from Cataclysm!Yeah but the drawing I gave you didn't have those. Just hints of them.Double check and make sure the artist you aren't commissioning isn't a furry.
On the topic of bad reviews I'm not too big a fan of goonhammer's system either. They treat having ammo or an XL engine as practically a death sentence. Also most all the variants are discussed in the same article so a mech that's good in 3025 is going to have its score pulled down because it gets DHS and CASE in the 3050s

What age is it appropriate to let children open booster packs? In America, gambling is restricted to people 21 and over. Buying booster packs of Pokemon, Yugioh, etc however, all unrestricted.
When is it okay to go to Chuck E. Cheeses, the child casino.
>>97380251Never, keep your grubby little hands off my investments.
>>97380251The boosters aren't the problem. The problem is that TCGs are an incredibly expensive hobby that has been overtaken by speculative investors, which has driven up the price and scarcity. Young kids don't have very much money to spend and even less understanding of the value of a dollar (most adults don't either), so letting them get into these overpriced, highly predatory hobbies where their parents' money will be burned away on hundreds of cards that will probably never be used is less of a problem of gambling and more of a problem of wasting limited funds on worthless things, for the chance at a dopamine hit to get the cards they actually want, but won't use anyways, because young kids are not cut out for the extreme autism of the competitive scene where manchildren reign supreme.Simple solution: skip the booster and teach the kids to play the game and build decks for free through one of the free VTT programs that exist

Rebellions in 40k usually happen on a single world, or within a very limited region, and are often isolated before they can spread. In Star Wars, the rebels are far weaker than the Empire, but because hyperdrives are easy to obtain and relatively safe, they can carry out guerrilla tactics. By contrast, the Imperium in 40k doesn’t have a rebel problem as severe as the Galactic Empire did, because warp travel is terrible and can't really do it without a Navigatorso if the Imperium ever figures out a truly safe form of faster-than-light travel, it would face horrific rebel problems all across the galaxy.
>>97345238A cynic might begin to wonder why the Imperium seems so unable to make technological progress and whether there might be an underlying cause...As if a buhjillion books haven't discussed specifically that at tedious length.
>>97352759Because the scientific method completely broke down and the art of constructing technology turned into a religion of praying for each and every nut and bolt on a vehicle. so that it takes decades to build a single tank.
>>97353716That's not it at all. It's that they are working with tech from 20,000 years ahead of our future, but with our level of understanding about tech. If you asked someone to explain why a computer worked, or give them all the parts to make one, they couldn't do it. Now imagine what the tech of the far far future will look like. Early 40k describes tech being crystalline just to hammer home what level of advanced sophistication it has (they ditched that because it looks dumb). The AdMech need their prayers not because they worship nuts and bolts, it's how they've kept the memory of how basic shit operates alive for millennia.
>>97345238most rebellion happen because living in the Imperium sucks
>>97345238Most rebelions happens because planetary ruler sucks and is overthrown in pesant revolt or planetary ruler believe he can get richer by secedding from Imperium. Chaos gets involved later.Outside Horus Heresy no big rebelion was because of Chaos, Nova Terra decided they rule Imperium now and entire segmentum followed, Reign of Blood just administratum chief turned pope decided he want more power, no chaos influence, Badab? tax issue and marines not complying with law, Huron became chaos lord after his rebelion was crushed.Rebelion on planet bumpfuck nowhere? Govenor decided that paying taxes hit his bottom line and it's not like Imperium care so he stops paying taxes, or local population have enough of govenor being asshole and overthrow him.

Hey guys the system I'm running does not give any kind of hit bonus or anything for stealth, and I'm not sure that that omission is a rule in itself because it's incredibly sparsely written to the point of being unclear in many different places, not just here. The system is called Five Torches Deep. anyflip dot com slash oynzm slash goyb I'm now stuck somewhere between nothing, the OSR sources where attacking from stealth gives +4 to hit, or 5e where attacking from stealth gives advantage. What do I do? What works?
>>97381978I'm not sure what "attacking from stealth" is even supposed to be. In my common sense, wouldn't this be an ambush? Meaning that players might either resolve it without entering the combat subsystem at all, or enter with a full free turn where the enemy can't react, or something like that. Is this supposed to be some kind of "pass a skill check, then move and attack for some bonus" kind of deal? If so, it needs to be at least stronger than just attacking for both actions at bare minimum. I personally dislike this second scenario for various reasons, so I'd advise doing some serious spitballing with a friend or a stuffed animal where you just speak out loud and try to explain what you want and why. Usually this lets you come to some kind of conclusion or realization.
>>97381978i would personally avoid using advantage/disadvantage. it's very coded in 5e vernacular

>>97354548To be frank, I don't know what the fuck CMON is doing with A Song of Ice and Fire, or why. They're reporting major financial losses and I guess they decided now's the best time to revamp the game's core rules.Currently, the game revolves a lot around a "tactics board", which is a special area to play politicians like Varys, Cersei, Tommen, or whoever. You know, to incorporate people who didn't fight into the game. The board offers free attacks, free maneuvers, and other effects, but there's only five zones. Players will bring three politicians each, which means six politicians, and one politician always gets left out. There's a lot of pressure to take the right zones at the right time and not be the one losing a spot.Meanwhile, the actual combat units are not all that well designed. Every faction tends to have a small number of usable units, and then a collection of complete dipshits on the side who do things like "30% to inflict +1 attack after being attacked". It's not that bad, exactly, but you don't win games as much using stuff like that so every player runs the same few things all the time. There was even one season when a mercenary unit called Golden Company Swordsman was the ONLY thing anyone used because it was just the most efficient combat unit. The design is that clumsy. But I guess the lead developer dislikes that politicians make so much of the game work, so his new goal is to revamp the system so they kind of suck. Now he'll tell you which zone they have to take, so there's no longer as much strategy with them, and he's making them more expensive so you'll only use one or two. He's also changing the tactics board but he's teasing some new bullshit every week with that. Now you get more power from using the board late to simulate the advantage a general gets from falling asleep after smoking too much pot, I guess. You still have to go to assigned zones.Meanwhile all the combat units are getting changed but they're not better balanced.

In House Venus shadows begin to flicker and shift as through a large shadow on the wall steps a tall figure, shadows wisping off of him, the figure looks at Mercury with piercing purple eyes, hands her/him a box with a little label that says 'To House Venus' he then vanishes as quickly as he came. With his leave the room feels lighter and the shadows quiet down. the box is to be opened with all of House Venus present. Inside is a note and a small vial of clear liquid. the note reads: "This is all I managed to acquired from Boy Toy before he passed, a vial containing his tears, they were all that survived the destabilization. -Kakophoni" [they are actually Boy Toy's tears]

She managed to say: "Welcome thank you farewell." in an dispassionate robotic monotone, she appeared to be more interested in the wall behind Kakophoni than him.Mercury Lamp's aura looks like a pure white canvas with a flickering gold border and multiple sparkles, it's indistinguishable from a human aura in term of intensity and opacity.Man of Florida is a 6'2'' tall, sharply dressed, hairless African-American Tzimisce Antitribu gentleman in his early 50s with complex scarification patterns all over his skin, but he doesn't show much skin, as he wears a Regency-era dark blue short slip waistcoat with a strangely thin waistline, and a high collar and trousers that make his figure appear taller, and a big, kind smile. He bowed in the manner of an European aristocrat from 2 centuries ago, and rushed in, in the hope to at least shake Kakophoni's hand, but the guest left too soon. Don't worry, he took it well, with a smile, and elegantly bid adieu. You couldn't have paired Mercury Lamp with a more dissimilar person. His aura is a womanly mix of lavender, pink and violet, it's even paler than the average vampire.
