Any advice? I rolled well but I feel like the stats are a bit awkward.
I'll go with custom lineage and +2 Str to 19, then I take either Crusher (not that useful until I get Manifest Echo at 3) and +1 Str to 20 or take Sentinel (and at lvl4 vice versa).
At lvl6 I'll ASI +2 into I guess Con but then I'll end up at 17 which is kind of awkward because it doesn't push it to 18 or am I overthinking it?

what I mean is you cannot pick up books and have a balanced game. That shit takes experience, of both the game, your players, and a sense of how things are going and ability to adjust things on the fly. A first time dm is not gonna have that. Personally I prefer the older 40k rpgs. By trying to make one generic system for any style of 40k game, it comes across as muddled. Each of the ffg games knew exactly what they were trying to achieve in terms of tone/gameplay/etc so they could do it well.

They're never very consistent on the exact size of the world. The Empire is probably the best documented of the setting, but its actual size will vary. I've seen one common map listing the Empire as only about 500-600 miles from roughly Bögenhafen to the easternmost frinches of Ostermark, while this map of Hochland (a reproduction of an older) has the entirety of the Empire's smallest province be roughly 200 miles from one end to another.

If we want the Empire to be of a "fun size" then I'd say about 2000 miles from the westernmost parts of Reikland to the ends of Ostermark would work the best. For the entire world? Four times as large would be four times the fun content.

Not covered in the 2004 Chapter Approved CSM codex FAQ, but I'd say no on account of being a monstrous creature rules wise, with the option of yes if you and your opponent aren't going to get shitty about it and can reasonably talk your way through rules disputes because a daemon prince surrounded by a retinue looks cool.
I don't think it was ever done in a battle report if that helps.

IDK about 5e, but in many of the earlier editions your soul adheres to your racial lifespan. Spells can stretch your lifespan a limited amount, slowing ageing or giving you the statistically unlikely but theoretically possible best lifespan while keeping you younger than you look - like a wizard looking ~50 from the ages of 50 to 140, then dying.

But there was usually a limit in place that prevents you from attaining immortality while in possession of a mortal soul, which is why lichdom was appealing to some. You had to tap into some kind of necromantic bullshit to acquire eternal existence on the material plane, otherwise your soul would "wear out" and rejoin the cycle or whatnot.

Clone spells combined with spells that diverted your soul into them if you died unexpectedly were great for staying YOUNG and for avoiding surprise deaths, but they couldn't make you immortal, just long-lived, iirc.

I feel like this edition has alot of objectively bad things about it and is absolutely where the alot of worst qualities of current editions showed up. But I feel like I prefer playing this edition compared to a lot of previous editions and 10th edition. Its a weird transitional period where there's still a lot of the old units that haven't been legended yet while still having the fucking Primaris lot. Its strange but I don't feel like I'm missing out on much staying on this edition and playing with friends casually instead of going back to playing the current edition.

I agree, however i understand more people seem to like flashy magic. How i think of it is people like lovecraftian and hate lovecraft. They like the seeing what the giant monster can do, where people like you and i prefer to leave that part up to the imagination. For what it's worth, apparently Eire/Ireland was shown as a heretic region in the late 19th century even before the war over it had concluded. So if there are heretics in there its clearly not enough of a presence for the church to accept the place as a region struggling for control.

Technically there's complicated strain dynamics where at the lower edge of being able to draw the bow it's difficult to not tremble and surplus leads to growing endurance. And then you get the funkiness of adjustable draw-weight bows, which include the relatively simple Penobscot type in addition to the super-complicated compound designs.

In that case, give wizards a couple levels of Mana Enhancer so they get any FP spent on spells back every turn, letting them effectively cast most spells at will. Alternatively, give them Energy Reserve (Magic) [3/lvl] with Regeneration (Extreme; ER Only, +0%) [150]. Although, Energy Reserve (Magic; Fast Recharge, 10/sec., +500%) [18/lvl] without Regeneration might be cheaper if anyone plans to take 9 or fewer levels of ER.

If wizards can ignore spell/magery prerequisites, then that could be represented by a wildcard Charm perk that waives the prerequisites for whatever spells you feel should be easier to learn: Charm! [5].

Of course, you might just forgo Magery entirely and build everything as a Power.

While not a must-read, I personally found "I've Got a Great Idea" and "Fortunately, I Saw This Coming" to be useful articles from Pyramid #3/53. Alongside Power-Ups 5: Impulse Buys, I use these rules to represent abstract planning, so dumb players can pull shit out of their asses when they're stuck in a bind because they didn't take a second to think ahead and assumed that everything would work just like in a movie or video game.
