Fuck, the heroica op gets the shaft?!? There's a tiny 30 piece expansion for that that I've never seen in the wild but some guy in Hungary has 200 copies of he's selling for 50$ apiece.
>>97391878Which is bs, because you can easily make ganrash with easily available pieces. The rarest pieces there are the figures, everything else I'm pretty sure can be found extensively in other sets (especially the golden swords).
>>97391908Yeah, I don't feel too bad about it, it doesn't really make sense to have more than one heroica set when the board is common pieces and most of the figs are available for pennies. Maybe ganrash had a really cool rules twist, though......
Can somebody explain the time controls in the Twilight Struggle app?You either play 45-90 for a one-session game, or you set up a multi-day control with someone you know, correct?

I want people to keep talking shit about custodes so that hopefully gw lowers the price for the box so I can buy it cheaper.
>>97392001>so that hopefully gw lowers the price for the box
>>97392001This is the most delusional post on /hhg/ of all time.
>>97392001Nah, GW never lowers prices because they know how stupid anyone who'd buy nuStodes is.If they weren't so hideous I'd just get them from wartable for 75% less than GW, but the transtodes are hideous and the dreadnought and tanks would just be identical to getting the current ones in resin so there's no point.
>>97392106>transtodesI suppose female custodes being official means you can use heads from someone who can make actual female heads. GW doesn't seem able (or willing to).Or maybe it's women but they happen to be British irdk
What kind of tampons do you think they have in the Golden Throne palace complex on Terra in Warhammer 40k?
>>97391933Oh I don't give a shit, I already saw GW trade a dedicated fanbase for a 'wider audience' with fantasy, for me they can burn and die, sometimes things that you like end anon, I just don't cry about it like you.But I hope that they keep adding shit to 40k, all the whining is hilarious.
>>97391260Why yes anon I'm sure many "women" are very happy about this
>>97392071NTA, but the current sales figures will inevitably decline and keep declining. Star Wars was riding high for a while too, and now nobody wants anything to do with it.
>>97392091cope
>>97392091You retards have been predicting the imminent demise of GW for as long as this board has existed.
hahahahahhahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH
>>97391955The disney sequels alone made an estimated 4.4 billion world wide, just because you personally don’t like what star wars is now does not mean star wars was “killed”. Same with 40k sadly enough, record profits last year and GW will do anything to keep that going. Selling more models to more people is the easiest way to do that.
>>97390527And they'd lose when they encounter men in battle
>>97390527>Flesh is flesh at the end of the day, and it all absorbs bulletsBut strong flesh > weak flesh
>>97391985Star Wars is dead as an ongoing IP, all their new shit is failing. That 4.4 billion came at the expense of the future viability of the franchise and setting as a whole. Young boys aren't interested in Star Wars anymore, that's fatal for the long-term survival of the setting because they're the primary demographic for starwars.>>warhams 40k is still profitable. For now. That will change in time. This is the beginning of the long and drawn out end of the setting and franchise what was Warhammer 40000.
>>97392084This, eventually people just don’t give a shit. That’s where star wars and star trek are now. In their hayday it would be unimaginable but now nobody gives a fuck. A stream of a fucking spock toy beat the latest Star Trek streamed FOR FREE on youtube. 40k will tank their brand but unlike Disney they aren’t too big to fail. They’ll be sold off to some chink company like ubislop was and the quality will tank. But by then nobody will give a shit and actively revel in the schadenfreude of a once great company.
Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help: >n00b DM's Guidehttps://pastebin.com/EVvt6P0B>n00b Player's Handbookhttps://pastebin.com/XALkXkV0 >Troves, Resources, Blogs, etc:http://pastebin.com/9fzM6128 >Need a starter dungeon? >>97389877>Why B/X lacks % in lair?As Anon said, it's not clear – my personal theory is that it's ultimately because of the division into Basic and Expert. No, hear me out: B/X is premised on the idea that only dungeon crawling elements of the game are explained in Basic (those being the most fundamental parts of D&D gameplay) and the wilderness exploration elements are detailed in Expert, once the PCs are of a level to cope with them. A consequence of this is that the % in Lair stat would make no sense in Basic – it's not used by any systems, so it would only be confusing (to brand-new referees!) for it to be present in Basic. Moldvay very reasonably cut it. But this created a problem for Cook when he went to write Expert: lots of monsters now have no % in Lair stat, including ones you'd expect to have them like orc and goblin tribes. Does he just put a table in summarizing this stat for all Basic monsters? Or does he reprint every Basic monster that might appear in the wilderness, in full? You see the issue. I think he just went ahead and cut the stat, for ease and consistency.
>>97390578I honestly thought Simulacrum Anon used the OD&D rules straight off so they're adapted to 5-mile hexes. In any case I agree with Anon saying just not to bother with any kind of conversion. Play them as-is.

>>97365578I think it comes down to what kind of aesthetic you're looking for. If you look for the Kli-San on MMF you'll find a tank that proxies to a russ rather well, and I've seen people resin print those. >>97369149What tanks have you printed so far? I'm looking to print one soon, just trying to work out hollowing, and drain holes for the mini atm. >>97379424Okay Professor Knowledge but what does that mean to me, the home consumer?
It fucking sucks.Long live V20.That's the thread.
>>97390564I probably heard someone else say it, but it's an apt thing to say about the entire X of Darkness corona pretty broadly. If you don't have to deal with any downsides to your splat, then you're just a guy with superpowers. If the player doesn't act like a vampire, isn't roleplaying like he's a vampire, no downsides, then yeah, the game is just about a bunch of superheroes. The vampire thing just becomes a vague aesthetic with no teeth, pun intended.
>>97390935>I probably heard someone else say it,at least you're honest about it
>>97382844>It fucking sucks>sucksI see what you did there!
>>97391433You're saying that like I'm supposed to be embarrassed about it, I don't know why. People learn idioms and expressions from others, dude. There's no reason to *lie* about that, so praising me for being honest is ridiculous. You sound like a paranoid schizo; nobody has any reason to lie to you.
>>97389021I'm not opposed to risk but considering you have to make a rouse check to wake up, appear alive, and use any discipline beyond the first dot: the game is literally just setting you up for failure. To even perform the basics already puts you at potentially 3 hunger before leaving your haven since the last dot doesn't go away unless you fully drain a victim. It doesn't feel like I'm taking a risk. It feels like I'm just waiting for RNGzus to tell me I spazzed out while driving and decided to reenact Death Race 2000.

>>97391993Alright, you've got a standard array, 15/14/13/12/10/8. Assign those in any order, then pick a race. Use their baseline stats if available, otherwise assign a +2 to one stat and +1 to another. Then choose a class.
>>97392002my race choice has always been Dragonborn, I always picked the nonhuman races in fantasy games, I was a Tauren/Worgen/Pandaren in WoW, and Hrothgar in FFXIV.
>>97392018>>97392002so do I have an idea of what stat in those is which? I always loved magic classes, are those harder to play than in other rpgs?

>>97391540>Word Bearers don't worship Chaos gods>>97391548>Even the Word-Bearers are very transactional in their worshipneither of these statements are correct if you read the Word Bearers trilogy, they pray en masse for hours on end during warp transit and things like drinking alcohol are punishable by flagellation and fasting
>>97387179This leaves out how chaotic the chaos gods are and their fickle nature that plays into how they interact with their servants. Some are instant simps who fall into worship, some play hard to get and think they are enlightened by their intelligence and can treat them like a tool. It's not like the Gods are going for maximum efficiency, and often self-sabotage because of their very nature or simply because they find it amusing.

What's the most "modern" a fantasy setting can feel without it feeling forced or weird?
>>97390879Depends on what makes a given individual feel like something is "forced" or "weird".
>>97390879I dont understand the question
>>97391388This is the first thing that came to mind. Also I've seen some homebrew DnD setting that had spacetravel and shit so I think it can work.Come to think of it, the Hyperion books had a giant spaceship made out of a holy tree
>>97390879genuinely, it depends on the type of setting you want.Do you want a contemporary setting where magic IS technology? Then you can go as modern - or even sci-fi - as you like!Do you want something that feels more "traditional" fantasy? Then you probably won't want to get to the industrial era.It really, ultimately, does depend on exactly what you consider personally weird or forced.I made a whole modern fantasy system, and then wrote a whole variant rule subset for "traditional" fantasy that changes out some of the equipment, bans certain Classes or class options, and certain Species for example. I, personally, like the "what if modern day but if technology was replaced/made with magic instead" theme. Some people can't stand it.Ultimately, it's your table, your group, and as a GM your preferences. The important thing is to pick a TTRPG that supports the tech level you prefer.
>>97390879At least 38000 years in the future
