>You can shriek bait all you want but this general moving at a glacial pace makes any explanation unnecessary as its self evident
Anon the game isn't out for at least a fucking month. The only people who even have models are the ones who got them at Adepticon or got the special promo Zeratul. Nobody can play the game without extensive proxy work.
The best we can do is theorycraft and speculate.
>>
>>97851589
The rules are free online dumbass. Anyone can play it right now but nobody is.
>>
>>97851678
The fuck do you think the value proposition of the ruleset run with proxies is? Hell, how much traffic in threads for wargames that DO frequently use proxies is about official models alone rather than the ruleset? Fact of the matter is that the product isn't out yet, and so neither is most of the draw for traffic.
>>
>>97851696
Anyone willing to dump money into miniatures for a new game would be playing it right now to familiarize themselves with it so they aren't a complete nuisance dragging on games when they actually do get to play it in person. No one is though because they have zero confidence in ever getting to play it for real unless they split a starter with a friend to be their life starcraft tmg partner (no homo).
>>
>>97835298
>Protoss kinda got written into a hole by getting slammed hard in their SC campaign and then being the first campaign in BW, letting the Terran and Zerg campaigns walk over them.
It was disappointing playing StarCraft for the first time as a kid and being intrigued by the protoss, then playing their campaign to discover a whole lot of nothing. They were an advanced alien race with a long history of psionic development alongside technological innovation with a neat aesthetic and distinct culture (it also helped that this was when Blizzard put out some of its best dialogue, never to be topped). Pretty cool, but in the game they feel like such an afterthought; it's not a stretch to say the devs were more interested in fleshing out the Terrans and Zerg. All of the neat little details in-game and in the manual were just dropped. The protoss have a very stratified society, but we never see anything besides Aldaris as the sole representative of the Conclave, and the templar. They are a galaxy spanning empire, but have no vassals and seem to be completely hamstrung by the loss of Aiur. I get that it's the homeworld, but losing one planet shouldn't be the catastrophic loss it's treated as in the campaign. It feels more like Aiur was their only planet.

None
But Cursed City had pimpin' minis, far better than Dogwater.
Black Fortress too.
>>
The original and silver tower were honestly the only really good ones. Darkwater tried capturing the gloomhaven audience but the fucking lead for it quit after the game was shown off which shows how confident he was in it. Cursed city was a chore but I really liked the setting, black stone fortress was all around boring. But I don’t like sci fi stuff, at least not when it’s so British.
>>
>>97849827
I didn't play all of them, but I liked Blackstone Fortress and Cursed City, Darkwater was bad imo.
>>
>>97849827
My group played the heck out of Blackstone fortress and the expansions. Then we got Cursed City. We played through the base game with some modifications so we didn't have to suffer through constant rescue missions, hunts and scavenge missions. It was bad but we stuck it out to finish the base game. I changed the end text so as Radukar started to transform we all just kept attacking him instead of watching slack-jawed and the bastard was hacked to pieces and the witch hunter burned the remains while the priestess and the mage sealed the tomb so nothing could ever ever bring him back. The end, hard stop and no sequel because fuck playing more of this pointless game.

Since this is meant to be a "40k codex-like" type of intro, I did consider adding a mini gallery of sorts. I imagine it would have a layout kind of like the estates page, with a picture + little lore blurb for each one.

Plus, Raal/Vesh/Kleona/Drace don't have proper minis yet, so AI is still needed.

Dont add any water on the wet palette. Pull a little from your blob and spread it a little on the wet palette, that adds plenty of moisture to it. Make sure your brush is wicked out on some paper towels so its lightly damp. It will look too thick on the palette but will apply and dry smoothly. If you're trying to glaze with it then glazing medium helps a lot to thin it out, but does make them dry somewhat satin. This advice only works for colors that arent orange, fuck their orange, it's like a prethinned airbrush paint that is a different consistency than literally every other fucking paint in the range.

Seems a little rude to call the theory 'nonsense' and 'what the hell' worthy. I think Fireblade having a hybridized or at least chimeric biology explains a few things in comic such as Alex's ability to perceive her, and the fact that her psychic aura is red-orange whereas every single other loroi is simple cyan. Or the author statement that she's childless. She might not be reproductively compatible with the loroi species anymore despite the empire having a manifest interest in reproducing her potential.

>>97845927
The Umiak have encountered the Historians before and have had the time and experience and technological level to develop a modicum of security. They were confident enough of their ships' systems ability to overcome the Historians that they launched an occupation force through Historian space, successfully seizing worlds without glassing them, until driven out of much of Historian space--by Loroi forces. The Loroi are also aware of the fact that the Historian construct's projector was aboard the shuttle but did not deploy it as an asset, despite putting it aboard the shuttle in recognition of it being an IT hazard; this indicates either unwillingness or inability, since ignorance can be ruled out. The human dataslate must be an unexpected special case of being just good enough to host the bot while being insecure enough to be infectored, and Umiak ships postdating their invasion through Historian space must be a nonspecial case of adequate cyberwar hardening. The virus would presumably have acted to seize the Umiak ship independently of Alex's intentions if it were possible for it to do so, since it is an agent of its own agenda and not a purely reactive extension of Alex's will.

Tempo's mindhax and especially her now-unspoilered char sheet's sensor dampening EM hax can be assumed to be the only way this could have worked.
>>
>>97846001
>unspoilered char sheet
Wait the char sheet changed? Cool.

But the Umiak gene-editing theory is stil very far fetched.
>>
>>97814895
>looks like she's in a trance in the wip
>looks shaken in the completed product instead
Why
>>
>>97846001
I think your theory is valid, but at least for why Fireblade has a different aura, I would lean towards the explanation that it is genuinely what her psychic presence is, and that Alex either has a special bond with her or that Fireblade's aura is powerful enough that even Alex can pick it up. Hasn't it been mentioned that Loroi "true" names usually reference their psychic presence and that their spoken names are basically shortened versions of that? In that case her name would just be a reflection of what Alex is able to sense.
>>
>>97851502
The Umiak show as pale white(ish), it'd make little sense for Umiak plus Loroi to suddenly become super bright and powerful.
The color is just her untrainable unsheathed psy powers.

Also, she is described as 'talking psychically in her sleep', which is somehow what Alex saw/felt.

"2026, I am forgotten..." Edition

>What is Genesys?
Released in November 2017, Genesys is a pen-and-paper generic/universal RPG system and toolkit by Fantasy Flight Games and EDGE Studio, using a refined version of the system presented by their Star Wars RPGs (Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, Force and Destiny). Its central mechanic is the Narrative Dice System, using pools made of specialized dice to create narrative results. The intention is for the system to be a highly flexible narrative system, adaptable to most any conceivable setting and premise.
https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/genesys/
https://edge-studio.net/

>Any news?
The dice are still in stock. Also EDGE released a Twilight Imperium sourcebook for ships.

>Where can I find the books?
Check the Online Extras pastebin below for something useless. The core book is the only mandatory book.
>Do I have to buy the fancy dice to play the game?
Only if you want physical dice to roll. There are plenty of free dice rollers available online, now including the official dice roller app on mobile. Check the Online Extras pastebin for links.

That combined with the "take 2 irresistible strain if you cast a meaningful spell (read: make a skill check)" go a long way to preventing caster supremacy.
>>
>>97850905
Oh and "how the magic works" isn't some overly descriptive shit involving mechanics. It just needs to be more than "I make a magic check to steal that guy's cash". As simple as saying "I lift that guy's money from his pocket and send it flying to my hand like how I magic books from a shelf to my hand when doing research." It's more about how I can describe the outcome of the attempt if you fuck up.

My uncanny valley feeling with humanoid female aliens makes sense knowing this lore, it's an adaptation. I like human women and stuff more monster/nonhumanoid just fine but loathe the asari. Is it rational? Probably not. In fantasy I find i'm more okay with stuff like elves/dwarves/orcs having women like humans as their males are also like humans. God made them all in their image / they come from the same genus after all.
>>
>>97850490
I think it makes plenty of sense, though it often isn't the case because the designs tend to have little to no actual thought or consideration put into them.
>>
>>97850514
Im aware scifi settings do the 'ancient human creator' thing too, even if there it can feel more contrived or underexplored (like how there was that one star trek episode that drops the huge lore bombshell of everyone having a common lineage and then... it just has no real impact outside that episode. Which yeah probably was the point given they kept fighting each other after that, not like being brothers stopped brothers from fighting each other).
>>
>>97850490
The Asari are just annoying and holier-than-thou for a race with literal sacred prostitutes. They were better when they had a little mystique from that one conversation implying all the races saw asari as looking more like their species and disagreeing on basic biological features.

Welcome to /2eg/, a thread dedicated to all things 2nd Edition D&D related - including settings, lore, modules, and derived systems (Alternity, Buck Rogers XXVc, For Gold and Glory, Hackmaster, Myth and Magic, and more).

Since 2e draws heavily from earlier editions, older modules are welcome too. Other media derived from AD&D (such as Infinity Engine video games) also has a home here.

It's what you play, not how you play it. RAW or homebrew, as long as your table is having fun, there's no wrong way to play.

There's a surprisingly complete 2e fan wiki for rules stuff, it's excellent for quick reference:

NTA, but abilities and feats alone add far more player facing rules than 2e did.

OSR started as a reaction to 3rd edition dropping and all support for previous editions disappearing, and people were scared that WotC would never reprint any pre-2000 material so as to not create competition for 3rd. It is going well so far. The combat is very deadly so I am needing to exploit outmaneuvering and overextending opponents. Luck points are also being used to prevent imminent death as I haven't found any decent armor yet.

There was a particularly tense situation where I was being ridden down by two riders as I defended on foot. Luckily I had a shield by that point and was able to use it to passively defend my upper body while I counter-attacked their charge. Took both of their horses and am currently bartering away their belongings for supplies while I escape with a slave maid I rescued/kidnapped from a manor house.

I have had good success with barbarians of lemuria. Which is based off of Thongor of Lemuria, which is basicly off brand conan.

I find it a nice middle ground between lighter systems and more medium systems. THe career system also is nice because it really does focus on you being an experienced multi-job having person like conan. Its magic system is also very conan esque with increasing levels of magic also requiring increasing ritual costs, not just pure magic points, but also like conditions, you have to be holding x object, it can only be enacted in shadows and will be banished in light, can only be done during the evening, etc. It makes it both proactively interesting, but also interesting to counter as a non magic user as you can exploit thier specific limitations. I also like the mythic versions combat system too, where you can transition between various stances to get minor buffs/debuffs, like +1 to hit for a -1 to your defence and stuff. Makes martials interesting in themselves. Also like how the armor and damage works.
>>
>>97842250
Has anyone transitioned a party from one setting or campaign to another?

I have a more recent Warhammer fantasy campaign I am running, and I felt like the characters I made were more fleshed out. Before that campaign however, I had another one set in Mystara, but with much less fleshed out characters that I never completed. I found myself picking up that older Mystara campaign, but using the characters I had for the Warhammer fantasy campaign, because they felt "realer" and I wanted to use the system I did for the warhammer campaign.

It was a weird meta-narritive transfer of the protagonist characters from one story to another.

Is that this game?

Yes. Its a typical roll-under d100 game with hit-location based armor and HP. Its selling point is the combat system, which revolves around opposed checks, and the winner gets to apply a special combat maneuver (along with damage if they are the attacker). The maneuvers are extensive. You can disarm, aim for a specific location, overextend your opponent, try and pin their weapon, take it for yourself, sunder, blind, bleed, stun, trip. It goes on, and it makes combat very interesting with so many options at your disposal.

Since I can't find a Lancer thread at the moment, I'll start one I guess.

I've recently gotten very into mecha, but the exact flavor I'm looking for seems to be somewhat limited. I'm looking for a good system to play with some friends, and so far, Lancer and Beam Saber see to be the only two that standout to me. Lancer seems pretty cut-and-dry simple to get into without being too crunchy, but I've heard it lacks on the roleplaying aspect, which confuses me, and is typically my favorite part of TTRPGs.

I suppose I'd just like to know the following:
- How does Lancer's system negatively impact the RP portion of the game? Isn't that more or less completely affected by the players themselves and/or myself as the GM?
- For those with experience with both systems, would you recommend Lancer or Beam Saber? Or are there any other mech-based systems you'd recommend?

For context, my players and I have mainly only played 5e (I've been a forever DM for about 5 years). I personally love complex mechanics, but my players not so much.

Avoid the Lancer "community" at all costs. These are people who will send you death threats and threaten to dox you because you did wrongthink in a game of pretend. They are all /pol/shit brainrotted to the extreme.

The system itself is pretty fun if you play with friends and not the keyboard activists who make up the "community". The system is light on roleplay mechanics outside of combat, but no mechanics can make people roleplay well. It's just a matter of playing with the right people.

Different ends of the spectrum; Lancer is based on D&D 4E and Beam Saber is a Forged in the Dark game. How much crunch do you prefer?

Or are there any other mech-based systems you'd recommend?

Take a look at Battle Century S on Itch. It is currently PWYW; if you like it, but would prefer to use tokens and minis, check out Battle Cnetury G Remastered. The systems are very similar, but S is theatre of the mind, and G uses minis and maps.

Good contribution to the thread theme but you forgot your meme arrow before the second half of the retarded bullshit the GM said before the game died.
