The rating system of the Royal Navy is a better and more accurate description for modern warships and spaceships. Fight me.
>>
>>97252976
i would if i could read anything on this pic
>>
>>97253146

Rate is mostly defined by how many guns (or missiles) it carries.
>>
>>97253160
seems reasonable but the categories are kinda vague and overlapping. if you fix that then it's a decent classification for warships.
>>
>>97253160
I might steal that for some of the factions in my space game. Rules-wise ships are split into size classes 1 (destroyer/other subcapital), 2 (cruiser) and 3 (battleship), and the human navy uses the destroyer/cruiser/battleship classification and uses the same terms for other faction's ships of similar size (with the exception of obvious carriers being referred as such), but internally other factions could use different classifications.

Most excellent, Space Nam is fantastic, both the stuff in plastic, and all the models that you can print, too. You planning on doing everything? I saw some awesome kitbashes with the Caiman tank you can print (picrel), you know, full 'Nam style with sandbags, plank armor, etc.
I plan on kitbashing a full gue'vesa contingent later next year, basing most of it on Space Nam.

Not sure exactly how much we're gonna get from the spacenam range but we've got a fair bit already lol. We got 20 of the plastic dudes from wargames atlantic, and then off Etsy we got 10 of the light recon dudes that had some unique sculpts and poses as far as we could tell, a handful of our favorite spacenam HQ's, picrel (grimguard jungle raptors - the scale seems to fit quite well but haven't taken a proper close look at them yet), and finally a rogal dorn and a baneblade.

Sadly we don't have room for a proper resin printing station so we gotta rely on Etsy and plastic kits. That tank does look sweet though but it'll have to wait lol

On the spectrum of rubber forehead aliens to complete starfish aliens that are made out of silica and breathe methane, where are YOU specificially comfortable with. Does there come a point where an alien becomes too weird for you to "relate" to in order to include them in your games as playable races?

Personally I am fond of aliens that look plausibly like they could have evolved in a different world and have no distinguishable lineage to earth life, even if they share some superficial features.

Presumably the exact age would be cultural, like it is with humans (there really isn't any specific biological reason why it's not OK to have sex with a 17 years old but it is OK with an 18 years old, 18 just happens to be the number we've decided on as being old enough to have the necessary mental and physical development to definitely count as an adult). Probably whatever age they reach sexual maturity plus a year or two to make sure.

Some aliens may reproduce by having pollen spread that fertilizes whoever it touches rather than copulation, consent probably isn't done the same way with such aliens.

Fairly shallow, got a bunch of random bits from mostly Heresy kits and then some. Doubt any ranged weapons from the nu-Mks or SoS will fit without some serious modding since they're two-handed by design, but I've plenty of leftovers from the MkVII kit otherwise, which are one-handed so I guess there's those.

Trying to explain making a character to a friend who has never played.

The best way to think about is:

- strength (and constitution) is for melee weapon classes like fighter and barbarian
- charisma is for sorcerer, paladin, cleric, and bard
- intelligence is for wizard
- wisdom is for ranger and druid
- dexterity is for rogue
But you can choose other classes in whichever sourcebooks! You can always multiclass later on and this is recommended if you want to minmax for certain battle roles.
The manual roll method is when you roll 4d6 per attribute then remove the die with the lowest result, which means you can get anywhere from 3 to 18 in any attributes—but most dungeon masters allow for rerolls of extremely low results. You can also try the standard array but you won't get high results; it just creates an even character that will survive the first few sessions better than a glass cannon or low stat character.

Lavender's still in torpor, because good God Garou are fucking awful. The vitae we're watering him with is doing great, though, it has restored nearly all of his skin, and that prolly means he'll be up and about soon. He's also stopped being a constant static electricity outlet, which's nice, I don't want my electronics fried.
Fucker's got really strange, persistent lightning scars now. They refuse to heal, even given the vitae. I think I'll dye his hair white, tell him it got bleached by all that Garou electricity, see how long it'll take him to figure out I lied.

Eleven-card spread, for eleven questions about the Tzimisce thing.
>1. What circumstance created this thing?
Ten of Wands - Upright. Burden; stress; responsibility.
>2. Why does it slumber instead of act?
Page of Wands - Unenthusiasm; apathy; disinterest. Sometimes with a bit of a 'well damn, I tried and failed' angle.
>3. What is the most likely to compel it to act? Is it even possible?
The Star - Upright. Hope; inspiration; renewal.
>4. What would it do, were it forced to awake?
The Fool - Upright. New beginnings; innocence; a clean slate.
>5. Why is it precisely where it is, if there is a reason?
Page of Cups - Upright. Sensitivity; curiosity; emotional openness.

1. In case I wasn't clear, I may be a Degenerate with a capital D, and a masochist at that, but I did not enjoy any part of that. It wasn't the fun stuff like Scarlet calling me a pussy and ravishing me on the floor.
2. Getting my cock back was nearly as awful as losing it.
3. I was paraded at the Pride, a festival of joy, self-expression and liberation, while being miserably imprisoned in another person.
4. The Tzimisce Antitribus from Brazil-zil-zil didn't ask for a penny on the ground that they believed me to be "great credit to the community." When they were finished, there were happier than I was.
5. Eventually I developed the ability to play with my own flesh, but given the traumatizing context, I'd rather talk to a woman, touch grass and be myself. A better, tougher, rebuilt myself.
There are some inaccuracies in Boy Toy's story, deliberately implanted in his mind. To begin with, the Volgirre woman in question was Assoluta and the family was not facing an economic crisis. Assoluta's mastery of fleshcraft is inherently tied to her synthetizer-like singing and 2D Disney movie character-like control over her facial expressions, she used repeated, increasingly subtle and fine-tuned applications of Vicissitude married with her encyclopedic knowledge of operatic singing and acting to get there.
In those days he was blood bound to Assoluta, now to Venus in Furs. The most disturbing part is, were Boy Toy to find out Assoluta did this to him with Venus' blessing, he would still love them both - but this is far from the vilest secret kept by this family.
He has 2 dots in Vicissitude.

Dies Irae, the doll in the video Mommy praised me for, is a robot that walks and can move a forearm. She can't aim or pull the trigger on the flamethrower, I do. One of her eyes is a high resolution camera, but it was a security camera that caught her burn the baddies. Dies Irae needs constant real time supervision, direction and control.
Blue Fairy says she reminds her of a racecar from GT3 with all the expenses and telemetry except under 2 feet long.
I am NOT selling Dies Irae! She made Mommy proud! She's mine!

I've got 8 days (today being the 8th) of playing board games with my family. I also used a gift card from my office to buy myself Underwater Cities and card sleeves for it, paying for it all 2 bucks above the card's value.
The biggest present was having enough time and lack of excuses on his side to teach my father how to play A Few Acres of Snow. He liked it enough to ask on his own if we will play one more after three games in a row, making it big success.

I have to say that the whole concept of a 'respawning child trapped in a sack that you can drain their blood from' is one of the funniest and scariest items.
>>
The worst thing about being human is having to eat (nearly) every day. Most of society is dedicated to this form of conceptual obesity. Even if you check out of society, you have to spend most of your time feeding yourself by fishing, farming, or hunting. Literally everything is about eating; it's cringe as fuck.

They don't. Nib fucks BE.
>>
>>97252610
Most lists I am looking at on ygometa do not run Sifr/Crimson. It really is just overkill. What about the Primite package makes Sifr a must-play? If you've got the Drillbeam engine online going first, it is pretty difficult for your opponent to end the game on their first turn (even if you just have the primite engine and a few hand traps, your lure still passing turn with Drillbeam + Seal + whatever hand traps you opened, which is not amazing but also not an auto-lose first-turn)
>>
>>97252878
Literally every BE deck that has topped runs both the primite cards AND the crimson dragon package. However, if he's not running the primite cards (i assume he's using 2-3 neo kaiser and bingo machine?), and he's also NOT running the crimson dragon package, then what is the payoff of the deck? Just double spirit (that tags out into ultimate spirit and moonlight/lightstorm) or spirit + seals? Brick-eyes gets raped by nibiru either way, might as well go for the giga board that crimson dragon facilitates.

A budget list (no primite) always wants the crimson dragon engine, because its most minimal endboard is bad compared to a primite one, drillbeam does make all the difference. I'm genuinely not sure what exactly is stopping him from running it, because all the cards got reprinted this year, meaning they're cheap. Sifr is the most expensive and it costs about 3 burgers.

maps and mapmaking. more specifically, there's something that's been bothering me for a while now. There are endless skirmish-scale settlement-scale and topographic-scale square grid mapmaking tools online, and that's great.
There's plenty of topography-scale hexgrid mapmakers too, presumably because of D&D's ancient use of hexgrids for overland travel. and that's great too.
There arent many hexmakers ive found for settlement scale maps, but i've had some luck torturing them out of the battletech mapmaker in the megamek software, or other videogames that generously offer to print the output
but
for the life of me i cannot find a decent skirmish-scale hexgrid mapmaker. i must have tried a dozen programs by now, but the ones that offer hexgrids are either borderline unuseable or just put a hexagonal overlay over a square grid. it's ridiculous that after decades of computer tools for TTRPGS the best i've found is GIMP where i have to draw the damn things by hand. Not to mention the endless enshitification of google makes it harder and harder to find niche programs to match what i need.

what are you anons using to create your maps?
do you know of any decent skirmish-scale hexmappers (that are free, or at least worth the price)?
what do you think of maps in general, do you even use them?

i'll share any spare maps i have within the size limit to get the ball rolling

These schools of thought about dungeon design have never sat right with me.

For jayquasing/xandering, there's no structure or intent behind them. its just a list of design elements you could theoretically include to stop your dungeon being a straight line. It's useful to have an exhaustive list, but not really worth having a name for because its basically just the idea of "my dungeon shouldnt be a straight line" and from there most if not all the techniques are self-evident

The five room dungeon is "better" in that it's at least a narrative framework to inform dungeon design, but it's only perscriptive of a single design philosophy not descriptive of the full scope of potential design approaches. It's also completely useless for when you need to actually put a pen to paper.
>room 1 is the entrance, and the challenge is related to getting inside
gee thanks, i really needed help figuring that out. besides, only amateurs put traps in the first room.

then there are things like melan diagrams that lack objectivity, cannot account for backtracking, conditional paths or obstacles, and are totally uninformative to actual design.

and as a final dig, none of these touch on dynamism in dungeons. dungeon-as-an-ecosystem has been popular lately, but even something as basic as a roaming monster is ignored. these ideas are 20 years old by now and game design has advanced a lot, its time we started setting these aside and researching a unified theory of dungeon-space

ok. i really just wanted to talk about level design in concrete way and we have a shared vocabulary for it that you are obviously familar with that we can use. I just want to talk about why good maps are good maps. Like the dungeon i made and posted here >>97247344 has wandering monsters and while not pictured stairs ladders a subfloor 3 entrances and i'm still probably going to redesign it to make the statue room bigger as there is scaffolding in there that a boss will use to hide as she throws menacingly massive mechanical monstrosities to mega murder my merry mercenaries. Dynamism and ecosytems are importat to dungeon design, not something seperate. In your opinion what are some good exmaples of dynamism in dungeons I'd love getting into it? Dungeon as an ecosystem is also awesome Dungeon Meshi did a great example of that in my opinion.

I did a political ttrpg using wesnoth, it worked very well and I'd recommend anyone use it for larger scale maps. Can't do rivers though.

well i want to bitch and moan about outdated analytical and design tools!

this map is a good example
i designed it to spite most tools and to reject most points of design philosophy
>Melan diagram
excluding single rooms and redundant loops, this entire map is reductively a single straight line with maybe one branching path
>jayquasing
there are two enterences (main door and brooken roof of the den) but otherwise...
no elevation changes, sub-levels, branching paths, loop-backs, sub-spaces or warps, sub-dungeons, midpoint entries or hidden paths. it relies entirely... on dynamism.

>some bandits have been operating out of this ruined structure (based in the den, which they have sealed)
>it is actually an undead settlement, who they are exploiting to defend their base
>the inner ring cannot be accessed without taking the key from the guardian in it's chamber
>the undead if alerted by themselves or the bandits will rally their full force (barring those locked in the inner ring), leading to an unwinnable fight and forced retreat from the hideout

Why were so many of the "OG" game designers insufferable faggots? It seems like the vast majority of game designers from the 70s and 80s were self-obsessed dickheads who openly hated and looked down on their customer base. There were obviously exceptions, and some like Gygax would go on to regret and apologize for it, but still, what made so many "professionals" back then such fags?

That's a lot of words just to write "boomers"

Describe your character without mentioning their class, their stats, or their name. In fact, answer the following questions about the last character you played:

1) What does the character have in their pockets/purse?
2) What does your character do on a Sunday?
3) What was the best birthday gift the character received?
4) What does the character think about the policies of the mayor/leader of the community?
5) What is the character's handwriting like?
6) What is the character's favorite color?
7) What tics does the character have when they need to sit still for a while?

>1) What does the character have in their pockets/purse?
a coin pouch, some crystal prayer beads, flint and steel.
>2) What does your character do on a Sunday?
Sundays don't exist in the setting
>3) What was the best birthday gift the character received?
Birthdays don't exist in the setting since it's not set in the 19th century or later northwestern hemisphere.
>4) What does the character think about the policies of the mayor/leader of the community?
Considering that he is the leader of his nomadic tribe he thinks they are ok. Definitely some room for improvement though. Since he got most of them killed.
>5) What is the character's handwriting like?
He doesn't know how to read or write.
>6) What is the character's favorite color?
Gold.
>7) What tics does the character have when they need to sit still for a while?
He is not an anxiety riddled zoomie so none.

That these guys all turned into whinging SJWs like Scrooge the morning after his stroke is hilarious to me.
