>>97270994You seem fundamentally incapable of articulating your point and why you feel a Solar can and should be capable of just strolling around the Blessed Isles unimpeded. That's not true to the lore, not true to mechanics, and not true to how any reasonable GM would run a fucking Blessed Isles campaign. So how the fuck would anyone "understand" a point of view that can neither justify itself nor is supported by literally anything?
>>97271003You're going off on some weird tangent that is not at all related to the very thing I repeated in all caps. If you're not going to talk about that then I'm not going to respond to you anymore.
Guess that was too hard for him. Anyway, I think the way they have set everything up is that every splat is basically at their lowest point. They haven't always followed up on this conceptually, something I have criticized them for in the past, but I like the idea of basically every faction being at its weakest at the assumed campaign start.
>>97270945>DRAGONBLOODED IN 200MPH AIRSHIPS ZONING IN ON YOUR LOCATION WITH A NEGATIVE RESPONSE TIME AND FUTURE SIGHT.The airships are just straight up statted and canon, and the negative response time thanks to astrologers predicting Solars popping up is in the very first piece of Exalted narration iirc. People say 'why doesn't anybody play on the Blessed Isle, we're solars we can take it even if it's hard mode' and then just think it's going to be an easy sweep. Like, what do they expect? You're told at every opportunity that the Blessed Isle is hard for Solars, why are you surprised that it's going to give you a hard time?

>>97270833Janissary Training is a Puchaseable Ability and so has to be bought at recruitment. And yeah it is a sting to lose out on activations early in a campaign. But you'll need ~200 ducats headroom on your Threshold as well as the ducats themselves to be able to take a Bull later. Which can be pretty difficult to finangle mid-campaign.There's also the consideration that you want the Bull accruing XP as fast as possible. Not only to afford protection if it gets taken OOA, but also that an Elite Bull with a skill or two is one of the best models in the game.

>>97264219How does CRGE compare to Mythic GME2?
>>97266273The chance of rolling a 14 or lower on a D20 seven times in a row is approximately 8.24%.Here is the breakdown of the math: * Chance per roll: Rolling a 14 or lower on a D20 is a 14/20 chance, which is 70% (0.7). * Chance for 7 in a row: You multiply the probability by itself 7 times (0.7^7). In other terms: * Percentage: ~8.24% * Odds: Roughly 1 in 12.So while it is a streak, it is actually not statistically rare. It is about as likely as rolling a natural 1, 2, or 3 on a single d20 roll.
>>97267101I wouldn’t call Scarlet Heroes OSR per se, there’s no real threat of instant death or high lethality
Tried creating a campaign for Ruthless Heavens, Boundless Fate, and unfortunately, this one is a very bad game, despite the stellar reviews. His worst one I tried. The structure is way too uneven, the mechanics are half-assed, there's semblance of cool ideas and powers here but a bad mix of what you're supposed to randomly generate and what is already there. To make a proper campaign of this, you'd be required to use a lot of supplementary material from other assorted system-agnostic works. And then it has the classic problems that this guy's games all have have. The stupid natural 1 and natural 20 stuff being widely pervasive in every single element of the game doesn't make for good long-term campaigns and then there's a bunch of random tables where getting a 1 just kills you. A lot of this stuff is fun to read but worthless to actually engage with mechanically. This guy is spreading himself too thin. I don't have much faith for his extraction shooter game.Very disappointed.
>>97266356Looks neat. Read some John le Carré and then try again?
On the spectrum of rubber forehead aliens to complete starfish aliens that are made out of silica and breathe methane, where are YOU specificially comfortable with. Does there come a point where an alien becomes too weird for you to "relate" to in order to include them in your games as playable races?Personally I am fond of aliens that look plausibly like they could have evolved in a different world and have no distinguishable lineage to earth life, even if they share some superficial features.
>>97264811Should have made them with two pairs of tits (the long torso could clearly accomodate that) ... would have been waaay cooler.
In my book, any kind of alien can work, so long as their tech level is believable. While the Birrin feel like they've been designed with features that only exist for weirdness' sake, it's the natural way their biological quirkiness is presented in mundane scenarios that make them work. It's when an extremely animalistic-looking species has quirks that feel wholly unsuited for using the technology they have that starts to feel weird. Either the tech needs to feel ergonomic for them, or they need to show visible difficulty using it. Despite all this, it's pretty easy to handwave how an alien can use what it's got if it has tentacles. The game Endless Space 2 has a lot of atypical aliens, like cephalopods forced onto land (Niris), sentient Amoeba gestalt consciousnesses and tardigrade meteorologists (Kalmat), not even mentioning the ones from other dimensions, though many are the result of meddling from another advanced civilization in their development. They might have a single text box worth of exploration into their culture for you to read as the start of a quest, and a civic project you can enact relating to integrating them into your culture. I think the biggest issue I have is the annoying number of the races (especially the major ones) with very cybernetic looking "default" features, and it makes it feel way too on the nose that they were messed with by the titular Endless. Still, I really hope we get something like Star Control for the franchise at some point to more closely explore all the novel ideas the game presents on the macro level. Been thinking to maybe add some elements from the games to a Stars Without Number campaign.

>gain traction from GW losing community goodwill>immediately start killing your own community goodwill before you even have a product fully outWhat is this business strategy called?
The more I look at this thread the more true it seems that the devs and associates have a defense force here nearly at all times for this game.Part of the reason trench crusade has a bad rep is how obnoxiously defensive the fans can be. No one around where I am even plays it since the drama just outlived the game, and the fans accused anyone with even minor criticisms of the game of being some ultra chud. It is known as the drama game with the worst, most obnoxious players. Even the devs themselves keep shooting themselves over and over again and getting rid of any goodwill or hype they had by doing the stupidest stuff. The game as a whole fails to really play better than mordheim, albeit mordeheim has a couple of its own issues admittedly that are at least easily fixable.

Any of you guys ever play this? What's it like? I happened to be looking for a game to run something like ghostbusters in, though I was looking at stuff like hunter the reckoning, and stumbled across this today.
>>97261804Ive played a one shot of spooktacular, which is an IP free version of the game. Enjoyed it quite a bit, it was a lot of fun. It's a very light weight game.
>>97261804It's fun, it's simple, suitable for adults and kids.First edition was slightly better. Not all that many real differences mechanically, added a little encumbrance rule rather than just can carry five items or whatever it was, made a rule for making weird science stuff, added a sort of wound/injury rule. They also got rid of the character and equipment cards because they cost too muc--because they were "childish". Making a character in first edition takes seconds, and a few more seconds in second. Its dice pool system is the progenitor of the d6 or D6 system like used in WEG Star Wars. It's not something I'd probably make a long campaign of, though that is where the second edition was headed, but for a short campaign it's fun and it's never out stayed its welcome. It's easy to learn and as I said works with kids and adults. The only warning I'd give is that it's supposed to light entertainment and it's a bit less fun if you play it completely straight but don't got for slapstick. If you and the players don't take it seriously that's worse I'd say than taking a more serious game and playing that for laughs.
>>97261804I played a Ghostbusters game, but for the life of me can't remember if it was the official rpg or some custom thing my friend made. Our characters were Ghostbusters franchisees for the city we actually live in. My character was a small time con man who didn't believe in ghosts and joined up because he thought it was just a way to scam credulous rubes. Finding new ways to rationalize the increasing levels of ghost activity was fun.
