After tha fall of Rus due to Mongol invasion "ikavism" appeared in Ukrainian language, so "e" changed to "i": Kyiv, when the city was under The Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Rzeczpospolita. "Kiev" is a modern name of the city from Russia under imperial times. So for "the principality of" it is more accurate to have Kyiv or Kyev, there are more authentic vibes.

I feel like this edition has alot of objectively bad things about it and is absolutely where the alot of worst qualities of current editions showed up. But I feel like I prefer playing this edition compared to a lot of previous editions and 10th edition. Its a weird transitional period where there's still a lot of the old units that haven't been legended yet while still having the fucking Primaris lot. Its strange but I don't feel like I'm missing out on much staying on this edition and playing with friends casually instead of going back to playing the current edition.
I enjoy playing some Index era 8th casually from time to time, it feels a bit like core book 3rd and as long as you aren't dealing with WAAC tournament grinders (which nobody still playing 8th should be having to deal with) it is a very fun way to play the game as far as Modernhammer editions go. I still mostly play 2nd, a little 3rd and 5th but Index 8th is the newest form of the game to exist in my rotation and I don't see that changing for a long time.
