It's all well and good to talk about QOL improvements and controls, but if I wanted to play a dungeon-exploration game based on the merit of its gameplay I wouldn't be playing Baroque in the first place.

The remake absolutely butchers the aesthetic and atmosphere of the Saturn game. While those may only constitute the 'some ways' you speak of in which the original is superior, they are factors of such significance as to make the gameplay improvements irrelevant by comparison.
>>
>>97371824
iirc the remake is also kinda based on the manga too instead of the original scenario that they drafted up for the original game so elements contradict each other. I know the anon here claims that it's the point but the original Saturn release is pretty consistent in it's story.

Depends on who you are dealing with. Clan Ghost Bear and Clan Wolf seemed willing to allow token acceptance of the caste system and only really cracking down if the local populace starting acting up.

Clan Jade Falcon was probably the middle ground of this, being much more involved in forcing acceptance of the Clan ways of life on people but also pragmatic enough to avoid unnecessarily causing problems for themselves on occupied worlds. You had outliers like Nicolai Malthus but overall their conduct was not anything special for good or bad relative to the way the Inner Sphere handled their own invasions and occupations.

Clan Smoke Jaguar is where you get into the relentless brutality and that largely mirrors their treatment of their own lower castes. This is the Clan who solved a planetary famine by just sending in Elementals to massacre civilians until there was enough to eat for the remainder. This situation was worsened by the fact that the Draconis Combine was the most culturally homogeneous of the Successor States, had fanatically loyal citizens and plenty of recent experience conducting resistance operations on occupied worlds from their recent losses in the 4th SuccWar. The DCMS was willing to fight dirty even by Spheroid standards and their tactics were genuinely without precedent as far as the Clans were concerned. These two were basically a match made in hell for one another and it shows in the historical records.

In the old novels depends of clan, Ghost Bear and Wolf are usually ok under some terms while clans Jade Falcon and Smoke Jaguar was bad to worst.
In short:
Ghost Bear > Wolf >> Jade Falcon >>> Smoke Jaguar
(Keep on mind I'm talking of when they were introduced in the 90' though.)

What's the heat tolerance of resin left inside a hot car? I can find lots of information on the subject when it comes to filament types, but then info seems very fuzzy for printed resin. Would be good to know for the purpose of transporting minis from place to place.

AI tennis pics with the net in the back, especially if the ball is being hit in the wrong direction, remind me of the one time I tried to gen a character at a shooting range and the character mcfucking had it and was gen'd shooting into the firing line

I suspect it's less of a spatial understanding issue and more of a linguistic issue. Spending a lot of time with AI has really opened my eyes to just how imprecise human language is and how much of the meaning we extract from phrases comes from assumed context.

To use your example, I'd imagine the problem was that a phrase like "[character] is shooting at a shooting range" can be interpreted equally accurately as the shooting range being the setting of the scene or the target of the shooting.

Ooh, neat. The comments seem surprisingly negative though.
>It looks like it will turn out to be something other than Votoms.
>Q: Is this Votoms? A: Maybe, partially.
>The AT battle will only last the first 5 minutes, and the rest of the story will be about Kiriko being chased by Rottina and punishing some thugs at a soba restaurant...
>There seems to be more dialogue than in AT scenes.

I guess it's kind of expected since Oshii has a history of going outside the box with other people's settings, but VOTOMS hasn't exactly been thriving in recent years. Maybe it'll work out.

Cool, I'm glad things are actively being worked on. That being said, having so many factions almost seems a bit worrying when a lot of the existing ones seem a little barebones, and I wonder if such a small company isn't stretching itself quite thin. In the last few years I feel like Mantic really hurt itself by unveiling new games and factions all the time while leaving their core products without updates or refreshes for years on end. Could say the same thing for Corvus Belli with their endless Kickstarters as well but it seems like they've refocused themselves now.

I do think there's a lot of potential in HGB that could be tapped with some marketing, documentation and quality eye-catching sculpts. Hopefully the game brings some more eyes.

4th had a few different options of play. It had a "Kill Team" ruleset, which was a kill team vs brutes, basically player controlled mooks. It also had a city fighting ruleset which was single model units IIRC. Although google says it was a separate supplement, but I am sure the core book had it too because I never owned any supplements.

How do I win as Kriegers, just shoot with lasgunners first and sac them to try and bait enemy models out of stealth?

Spam the accurate one order every turn?

How would you humanize enemy mooks even if the players have to put them down at the end of day? How do you make it so that players leaving piles of corpses in their wake is not a trivial matter?

I've always wanted to see a Lord of the Rings story that takes place after the War of the Ring has concluded. A band of a half-dozen Orcs and two Goblin Warg-Riders from Mordor fleeing in the wake of Gondor and Rohirrim entering it, because they don't want to be wiped out (whether or not the Men actually intend to do this isn't clarified).

These Orcs are still evil, to be clear. But we'd basically follow a sort of reverse-Fellowship as they travel from Mordor north, to Dol Guldur, because they're chasing rumors that Dol Guldur hasn't fallen, is holding out in the wake of Sauron's defeat.

And the point would be to show that while they're evil, it's because they were shaped to it, not born to it. And it doesn't consume their every waking moment. We get moments of camaraderie, of humor, genuine friendship between the Goblins and their Wargs (who, remember, can speak) and of course the entire journey is one of desperate hope.

Of course this being a tragedy, as they near Dol Guldur they'd come across an Orc fleeing from it - it's fallen to the Dwarves. Dwarves to the north, Men following from the south, this band of Orcs trapped in the middle.

So the story concludes with them deciding to make a last stand against the Dwarves and Men, preferably at some historically significant ruin. And the final chapter is the battle in which they fall, one by one, while we also see them working together, defending each other, being aggrieved when one of them falls because they knew them...essentially everything that would go into a last stand if the characters were Men or Elves or Dwarves, it's just that instead we're following Orcs and Goblins and Wargs.

They probably take up a song during the whole thing, something Orcish, something about battle that's nevertheless also somehow about the pointlessness of it all. Something tired.

The last surviving Orc, run through by a sword, manages to finish the song.

"It's done."

WotC and Mark Rosewater have all said this was the case. It started out as having 100 cards and according to them they changed it because they wanted to put more Spider-Man stuff in. What is a good tabletop RPG that is easy to run and prep for someone who is a new gm but has experience playing in games before?
>>
>>97386862
The boring answer is:
Whatever system you have the most experience playing in.

But if you're really deadset on trying to learn a new system, I'd recommend just picking out something that interests you. Most of the challenge with prep work comes from either preparing purely narrative stuff (in which case system of choice hardly matters) or having a strong enough grasp on your chosen system to provide a fair and interesting challenge.
>>
>>97386902
I’m interested in like CoC/Delta Green stuff but prepping mysteries seems a lot harder than just making a dungeon to crawl in, which is why I kinda wanted to ease myself into it with something easy to get used to gming. Maybe that isn’t the best idea? Of course there’s always prewritten adventures but I kinda wanna do my own things.
>>
>>97386923
In that case, your problem mostly falls on the "Purely narrative challenge" end of the spectrum. If you're not confident in your ability to really do mystery stuff, I'd recommend doing smaller less grand mysteries in a system you already have a strong understanding of. Since this is more of a lack of writing experience challenge than anything.
>>
>>97386862
Just start playing, you'll get it in time with any system. Pick whatever looks the most fun. A lot of skills are transferable between systems.
