Why were so many of the "OG" game designers insufferable faggots? It seems like the vast majority of game designers from the 70s and 80s were self-obsessed dickheads who openly hated and looked down on their customer base. D&D grew out of the wargaming scene. A lot of games from that era featured options for long running campaigns with primitive RPG mechanics while still remaining inherently adversarial. Like e.g. Circus Maximus was a racing game that allowed players to carry their chariot teams over from race to race while investing xp to improve their drivers, chariots and horses. Players were strongly encouraged to do things like wreck opposing chariots and run over one another's drivers to reset their opponents' progress. That was the gaming ecosystem that produced the first generation of dungeon masters. They simply took that mindset and carried it over to D&D and other RPGs.

Depends what you're into. I think the UI is fine in COC2, I couldn't personally get into TITS. I find that CoC 2's story is more fleshed out and has had more work put into it but is substantially tamer. There is less focus on corruption and wacky stuff, ironically, and way too many futas and femboys.

What are some of your experiences with BRP or mythras? Favorite stories, characters, or supplements?

I generally like running pulp or horror campaigns. Funniest story setup was how my players thwarted a small series of adventures I planned before it even started.
>Players role up an old priest, a journalist, and basically fred from scooby doo.
>Investigating a series of murders and disappearances.
>Get captured thesmelves and wind up in a rundown factory converted to sort of look likea victorian mansion.
>Meet an obvious vampire who uses them for basic company and conversation before planning to kill them.
>My players escape, the frail priest manages to full nelson the vampire, and the other players manage to use a stake to kill him.

It ended what I planned to be a multi session adventure in one night. It was a lot of lucky roles and ended up with being funny.

Imperative is broadened and highly simplied

While regular mythras is designed for fantasy settings from a tech level range of paleolithic all the way to late renaissance and napolnic
But assumes classical era bronze/Iron Age most of the time

Also way more shit to play with about five diffent magic systems you can chose to include or exclude entirely
And a complete combat effects system

Imperative is really a wide vertical slice that is missing a lot of shit though it has rules from a few supplements
It even has a heavily simplified version of the supers rules present in the standalone game destined

If you want sci fi stuff I would reccomend giving Luther Arkwright a spin

TL;DR Im trying to learn how to run a setting I have no experience with. Looking for setting influence.

I would like some help with this concept, post apocalyptic science fantasy. The idea that the world was propelled forward by magic tremendously, but then cataclysmic events reset civilization, and now were living in the post era.

Im used to running Sci-Fi, Cyberpunk, Shadowrun, Lancer, but this new group has requested me to run fantasy for them.

I agreed, but I told them I wanted to draw from influences that im familiar with, the closest comparison I can think of is the Televison Show Adventure Time where there was technology and then a fall, and now we have magic and some science tech. Disparate cities and no main governing body.

Well I didn't want to post a bunch of her with other characters, I've done that a ton already. I was also avoiding action scenes/combat because that's just not her character. She's just a imperiled slave princess, I figured I'd give more focus on different clothing styles & colors, fabrics etc with her. You should ALWAYS cheese every encounter. If you EVER end up in a situation that even remotely resembles a fair fight, just run away and wait until you can rig the situation to your favor.

Use your fucking brain. Even if it is highly improbable for you to lose a given fight, statistically speaking, you'll still eventually croak if you keep taking those bets. Don't leave it up to chance. It's easier than you might think, you just need to use your noggin. It's not a video game. You can do whatever the fuck you want.

Just the other night my party ran into a melee monster in a narrow ass room that they for some reason decided to ram their dicks into until someone died. When I suggested that we retreat for a bit and lure it into the room with the big ass statues so we can all just climb them and shoot it to death, they looked at me like I just escaped from the looney bin. They all died of course.

There either never was a real challenge and GM's already fudging rolls and adjusting monster HP to make sure the party prevails or the GM wants you to have a fair challenge and any attempts to cheese what was envisioned as such will get you punished for daring to challenge that vision and trying to outsmart your better.
