Why were so many of the "OG" game designers insufferable faggots? It seems like the vast majority of game designers from the 70s and 80s were self-obsessed dickheads who openly hated and looked down on their customer base. There were obviously exceptions, and some like Gygax would go on to regret and apologize for it, but still, what made so many "professionals" back then such fags?Pic related: WFRP author James Wallis's response to a letter criticizing how railroaded The Enemy Within campaign was.

D&D grew out of the wargaming scene. A lot of games from that era featured options for long running campaigns with primitive RPG mechanics while still remaining inherently adversarial. Like e.g. Circus Maximus was a racing game that allowed players to carry their chariot teams over from race to race while investing xp to improve their drivers, chariots and horses. Players were strongly encouraged to do things like wreck opposing chariots and run over one another's drivers to reset their opponents' progress. That was the gaming ecosystem that produced the first generation of dungeon masters. They simply took that mindset and carried it over to D&D and other RPGs.

>>97266591How is Coc2? I heard that there was more cuck shit, more self inserts than Urta and less goblin fucking so i stayed away. Also TITS kinda put me off it because the UI sucks so hard in that one compared to one for some fuckin reason
>>97268995Depends what you're into. I think the UI is fine in COC2, I couldn't personally get into TITS. I find that CoC 2's story is more fleshed out and has had more work put into it but is substantially tamer. There is less focus on corruption and wacky stuff, ironically, and way too many futas and femboys.
>>97187485>White human male and orc female pairings are the key to fixing the realmOk fine but can we have some M human / M orc pairs too?
>>97269948Preferably with this style of orc male.
What are some of your experiences with BRP or mythras? Favorite stories, characters, or supplements? I generally like running pulp or horror campaigns. Funniest story setup was how my players thwarted a small series of adventures I planned before it even started.>Players role up an old priest, a journalist, and basically fred from scooby doo. >Investigating a series of murders and disappearances. >Get captured thesmelves and wind up in a rundown factory converted to sort of look likea victorian mansion.>Meet an obvious vampire who uses them for basic company and conversation before planning to kill them.>My players escape, the frail priest manages to full nelson the vampire, and the other players manage to use a stake to kill him. It ended what I planned to be a multi session adventure in one night. It was a lot of lucky roles and ended up with being funny.
Is there any major difference between Mythras and Mythras Imperative?
>>97268961Quite a few actuallyImperative is broadened and highly simplied While regular mythras is designed for fantasy settings from a tech level range of paleolithic all the way to late renaissance and napolnicBut assumes classical era bronze/Iron Age most of the time Also way more shit to play with about five diffent magic systems you can chose to include or exclude entirelyAnd a complete combat effects system Imperative is really a wide vertical slice that is missing a lot of shit though it has rules from a few supplements It even has a heavily simplified version of the supers rules present in the standalone game destined If you want sci fi stuff I would reccomend giving Luther Arkwright a spin
>>97269029>If you want sci fi stuff I would reccomend giving Luther Arkwright a spinThere's also M-Space for sci-fi mythras.

Im out of my depth hereTL;DR Im trying to learn how to run a setting I have no experience with. Looking for setting influence. -I would like some help with this concept, post apocalyptic science fantasy. The idea that the world was propelled forward by magic tremendously, but then cataclysmic events reset civilization, and now were living in the post era. Im used to running Sci-Fi, Cyberpunk, Shadowrun, Lancer, but this new group has requested me to run fantasy for them. I agreed, but I told them I wanted to draw from influences that im familiar with, the closest comparison I can think of is the Televison Show Adventure Time where there was technology and then a fall, and now we have magic and some science tech. Disparate cities and no main governing body. -So, im looking to add to my influence, are there any pre existing settings ? Are there any fun things you've ever wanted to do along these lines ?Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>97260477i think cypher does what you are looking for. fantasy happening after a long forgotten apocalypse happened to a sci fi society and now people find the artifacts called cyphers in dungeons and think it's magic
>>97260477The might and magic series, but heroes and the original dungeon crawler, are pretty good for figuring out how to combine magic and science-fiction pretty well. Wizardry is also pretty good at it as well.
>>97266598That's a typo. Miyazaki actually meant to write 'Basin of Pussy', in imitation of the American idiom 'drowning in pussy;.

>>97269492totally fair but not all 1girls are created equal
>>97269461Well I didn't want to post a bunch of her with other characters, I've done that a ton already. I was also avoiding action scenes/combat because that's just not her character. She's just a imperiled slave princess, I figured I'd give more focus on different clothing styles & colors, fabrics etc with her. Pretty much every image is her in a different outfit or material, style etc. I change up the art style, poses & angles too. There's not many of my posts you can put side by side & say they're the same other than the character
>>97269512I agree. It's best to try to get the 1girl doing SOMETHING other than just standing there.
>>97267068same, the new stuff Sora produces is so ugly that i've just thrown up my hands and given up several times. this is the same trajectory with bing. we gotta wrestle this technology out of the hands of corporations or it will be useless
>In the dungeon's mossy depths, the orc's breath misted in the damp chill. She knelt beside the drow warrior, watching silver light from a distant crack trace the contours of obsidian skin. A trickle of violet-black blood wound its way from the corner of the drow's mouth. The orc leaned closer, inhaling. Her pulse quickened; her fingers curled into fists, then slowly unclenched. She moved forward on calloused palms and bent knees, the rough leather of her armor creaking with each shift of weight. The unconscious drow's lips parted slightly as the orc's shadow fell across her face. The orc hesitated, then pressed her mouth against the drow's, tasting copper and salt. The kiss was raw and possessive, her sharp teeth grazing the drow's lower lip as she growled deep in her throat; a sound that declared ownership. Her victory, her prize, her conquest to devour. Her rough hands found the curve of hip, the hollow of collarbone. Outside, water dripped steadily from stone to stone, marking seconds that stretched into minutes as the space between their bodies disappeared.

tell it to me straight Adam's never making anything but Monster, is he?
>>97269759Nope. And honestly, I think another reason the expansions are delayed so much and content comes at a snail's pace is because Poots doesn't want KDM to end. It's his baby and without it, he (and KDM) will drift into obscurity and irrelevance.
>>97269759Well, pinups are not for Monster even tho some have promo cards. But yeah, it's his life now. Pretty good imo. Other than that, I can see licensed 3rd party studios making vidya, ttrpgs, etcetc.
You should ALWAYS cheese every encounter. If you EVER end up in a situation that even remotely resembles a fair fight, just run away and wait until you can rig the situation to your favor. Use your fucking brain. Even if it is highly improbable for you to lose a given fight, statistically speaking, you'll still eventually croak if you keep taking those bets. Don't leave it up to chance. It's easier than you might think, you just need to use your noggin. It's not a video game. You can do whatever the fuck you want.Just the other night my party ran into a melee monster in a narrow ass room that they for some reason decided to ram their dicks into until someone died. When I suggested that we retreat for a bit and lure it into the room with the big ass statues so we can all just climb them and shoot it to death, they looked at me like I just escaped from the looney bin. They all died of course.
>>97262228It's kind of sad to agree with yourself
>>97250948That will never work. Not because it wouldn't make sense, but because you're trying to bring sensible approach to the land of the mad. There either never was a real challenge and GM's already fudging rolls and adjusting monster HP to make sure the party prevails or the GM wants you to have a fair challenge and any attempts to cheese what was envisioned as such will get you punished for daring to challenge that vision and trying to outsmart your better. Just turn off your critical thinking and play along.Or cheese aroud that whole pointless treadmill of numbers and doing voices and rolling the dice by realizing that the only truly sensible move is not to play.
>>97250948
>in realityIn reality, if you spend all of session time running away while the rest of the group actually plays the game, you'll be asked to stop or to leave.Unless you're hosting the thing at your home, in which case the others will put up with you not participating and pretending you're clever for the sake of convenience.
>>97263200Works when I do it.
