Necromancy Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What Trench Crusade is notTC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/Comment too long. >>97360804>>97361491>>97361531Wow you try to offer constructive criticism and you get insulted! (Doesn't matter that what I posted is made up, you NEED to hold my opinions as important)
If you were going to expand on the campaign content, what would you want to see added? What are some other sources to be looking at for ideas on expanding the campaign aspect? Mordheim? Necromunda?
>>97362391Honestly they might be served by taking a page from Kingdom Death in campaign. It's like WW1 movies where there's a break in action only for tanks or artillery to show up, but instead it's the warband trying to rest and recover only for boss demon to show up.
>>97362391The carcass front stuff they announced sounds pretty good honestly You need to start small, otherwise it'll scare off a lot of players All I really want is fluffy stuff specific factions can do Like if you're playing again black grail, a model killed during the game joins their warband as a thrall on an injury roll of 1
Anyone actually used the official random mission generator? If so how good is it
Are interspecies pairings allowed in your game?
>>97362829if her home is clear cut so must she, I guess.
>>97362775>still trying to make this a thing
>>97362853what Paladin shit tests? Yeah not a good idea
>>97362871Eh, if your party Paladin is abusing his powers in a way that goes against the tenets of his supposed religion, or consistently acting like a borderline case, then I could see the utility in dropping one on the party every once in a while; especially if it's in a context where the character has a responsibility to uphold an actual tenet of their faith. The whole "Vow" thing shouldn't just be a gameplay mechanic isolated from roleplaying. The cool thing about the Paladin is that there ARE roleplaying expectations traditionally placed on the class.
>>97362853>>97362871a paladin is the one class that SHOULD be shit tested often, that's the point of their character, not humiliated or degraded, but constantly upholding their beliefs and vows in difficult situations as best possible
Clerics having wizard-like magic powers (in the vein of D&D and dertivates) is too over the top. How can I make their abilities more subtle?
is this a fucking puckee thread???
>>97362719All I said was this post was off topic to /tg/, why does that infuriate you to the point you accuse me of being someone else? seems pretty schizophrenic to me. Maybe you should seek help.
>>97362388>Cleric prays>no golden ray of light >no lighting bolt from the sky>but after some time, the thing he prayed for happensAlso>no bad things happen around him>evil creatures find it difficult to approach and do him harm

Disappear into the mists again. Bit of a shame really. Here’s my test scheme stormvermin, batching 20 is a moral trial. I had to stop today and paint some terrain as a palette cleanser, and then I still couldn’t do it so I touched up and rebased a secondhand corpse cart. Now I feel rejuvenated to do another step or two of the batching.
>>97361406>TQbit of everything really, my experience with HH3.0 has got me anxious over the future of TOW and it's hard to explain to the people I play TOW with, but lets hope lightning doesn't strike twice. Been coming back to WotR recently which is always a fun pick up game.
>>97362834Same here anon, I pray to fucking god that we don’t go on the 3 year cycle and get customisation nuked. They’ll do something like say magic banners don’t have a model so they should remove them
>>97362834It really shouldn't be that hard to explain. Most people playing TOW have, one can assume, played at least one edition of Fantasy before. They should know what it's like to have a game they love dumbed down and simplified.

Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. But feel free to talk about any game you've had experience with.
>>97362507>and I have never seen a player actually dedicate time and resources into craftingI'm playing in a D&D 3.5e table where one PC is a crafting specialist.Shit's starting to get wild with him crafting things like prosthetics arms (effectively grafts) to replace the perfectly working arms of another PC.He's also slowly turning himself into a sort of half-golem.
>>97362817...No, singular bespoke input-recipe-output relationships are horrible cancers of page-space. You'd want a material setup like Dwarf Fortress or Rimworld has to procedurally define permutations.
>>97362817>>97362983why do you need rules at all? if the players have woodworking tools, they can make a bow. it takes some downtime. that shit is boring, don't waste the whole party's time with it.

>>97362857you've illustrated another problem with craftingit's swingythere's very little rules, so most of it is ad-libbed by GMas a result it's either useless or OP, because it's hard to get a feel for reasonable limitations of the created tools

>>97358364No, you're only supposed to have 1x. The GCE instructions mention this, it includes the extra set in case you didn't already have the card pack.
>>97358513Eh, I didn't see it when I read it the first time. I really think they just have too many systems repeated too many times across too many different products. How much would/should changing the default setting from High Medieval to Late Bronze Age change the game? For example, lowering AC across the board to simulate the lack of general armour. How much would that affect balance?
>>97357286There are more jeets that learn English as a first language than Europeans (excl. colonials). ESL means nothing ever since India got hooked up to the internet.

>>97350722>For example, lowering AC across the board to simulate the lack of general armourYou should really run something that isn't D&D instead of repurposing it for something it isn't meant for. But if you're going to do it anyway remove the ahistorical items but don't nerf the ones that stay, there isn't better gear for it to be worse in relation to and it's not like martials need to be shittier.

>>97361977Mage: the Ascension/awakening is the system. It's a little bit difficult to say really, every mage filters their magic through a paradigm, a way they see magic and its place in reality as a whole. If you get too flippant with magic around people who haven't been awoken then reality will try to assert itself and backlash on you.The closest is probably magic masquerading as sci-fi, as my mage's paradigm is based around engineering and science (arc weapons instead of casting 'lightning Bolt's). It also helps he's incredibly intelligent, allowing some of his gadgets to actually mechanically function without magic.Filtering magic through the lens of technology and nearish future sci-fi concepts let's him get away with more than most, as the consensus of reality has been exposed to enough of those concepts to believe they could exist. I have a much easier time getting around paradox backlash than say, our art streamer mage who paints things into reality or our daoist who uses 'chi' manipulation and various talismans.
>>97362267>>97361977Setting wise it's a bit of a detour from traditional world of darkness, carrying on in the same world we played Vampire the masquerade in. We're traveling the USA in an RV solving magical mayhem and dealing with rogue mages. Ours world lacks the technocracy of traditional mage (a mage group who function similarly to my mage, except they are trying to snuff out other magical paradigms/traditions to enforce their techno magic reality.

You can't have the same combination of vehicle cards more than once.
>>97357464Nope, not vehicle cards, upgrades on the unit entry itself. This codex is odd, it only superficially conforms to 2e design, and largely feels like it was only a change to weapon profiles and point costs. These upgrades don't exist in the other lists, so they won't be a factor going forward.>>97356055The differences are in which editions it's backporting from and how closely it aligns to 2e design pricples. The older 2 lists are based off of the 3e codex, so a difference in vehicle upgrades and unit details, as well as the character selections. I'm inclined to go with one of these two in the end, even if only as a foundation to my own efforts at a dark eldar fandex.>>97356270It's still a damn good game, I started much later, 4th edition is where I truly was able to really "get it" and actually play the game, so I was already far removed from what 2e was. But even still, picking it up after a chance encounter with one of the anons lurking this thread and playing it out for roughly a year shows that we is still a very good and comprehensive wargame. Definitely something I want to try and grow here in my city.
>>97356055>Has your army list changed?I missed this part, sorry. No, I will be going with the same list as presented above, changed where it must be in regard to vehicle and unit upgrades where they must be. I reckon it'll give clearer understanding if I have things consistent like that. I also have limited models, just the stuff I built from my left over bits and whatever I can attempt to scratch build for vehicles.
