>>97262919half of all mecha content is pve video games, whats your point?
>>97283697Most of all mecha content is a boy and his robot type anime from the 70's-80's. Videogames would barely cover 10% of it, pve or otherwise, and they mostly stopped making them entirely about 10 years ago.
>>97283884lol yeah sure okay buddy, im sure when people come in here to the mecha monday general they're thinking all about astroboy and gigantor and shit and definitely not mech warrior and armored core type shityou got me, i concede
>>97285858Which should have really have nothing to do with lancer. Neither of those games are primarily about dismantling yucky chudstates with your epic antifa builds anyway.
>>97283884no it's not what the fuck are you on about
If you told me a few years ago that I'd be primarily using fucking Army Painter warpaints I would've called you a retard. Genuinely what a gargantuan upgrade from the old crap, can't recommend it enough
>>97286702okay so you are genuinely retarded, good to know. a person can spend whatever amount of time and paint mixing shit till they get the right formula or they can buy the same color thats used on the box for like, 2 dollars more than normal. Seems like a pretty easy choice to me.
>>97277498Same. When I was a newbie I had mostly Citadel like a basic baby faggot.Tried AP 2.0 and its great, a few bucks cheaper than Citadel too.
>>97278308The effectiveness of mixing paint depends on the purity of the pigment, and miniatures paints will turn to browngreymud faster than single pigment artists paints will when mixing multiple colors.
>>97287388That's why I only ever mix two paints at a time to do wet blend gradients.
>>97277739Not really

>>97287295"What is this? Cataan?"
>>97286867>TQSure, though I think any depiction of them would be pretty inevitably unsatisfactory. I personally like to think of them as some kind of a competitive omnipotent creator simulator where players create a (not real) universe, with even the most fundamental laws of said universe being malleable, with each player trying to impose their own vision on that world and with who's on the lead being determined by who currently has the biggest impact on the simulated world.
>>97287416This is is a reinvention of Dunsany's pegana.
>>97287446Okay. That does not seem particularly important. Also reinvention of Pegana would be more just saying that Games of Divinity are just actually messing with Creation.

>>97283165extended tests are a rogue trader thing and only came to dark heresy late in the system's life
>>97285866I wasn't talking about extended tests, I was talking about distance you can travel per Agi bonus as per RAW in DH core.
>>97283258Had a deep romance between the adept lead acolyte and a scum recruit he initially picked up on Iocanthos when we were running the starter adventure in the core rules. She started as an obscura addict and he just hired her. The adept character ended up saving her during the final fight and the relationship bloomed in character from there. We were a group of all dudes so it was purely an "awww bless em" between the group. Had an assassin, a psyker and me GM. They both ended up dying later but ya know, dark heresy and all that.
Why do the other departments trust the Ministorum to produce important individuals via the Schola Progenium? Shouldn't they be worried that these people who are often given a lot of power would be loyal to the Ecclesiarchy first, and their new department second? Every source goes to lengths to make it clear that the Imperium isn't one big happy family, so why are the Progena the exception?
>>97279044This is why I like that Dark Heresy Genesys homebrew myself. You don't have as much crunch, but there's still a fair bit of weight to things. Genesys encumbrance I always felt struck a good balance between "number crunch" and "narrative".
Sharing useful wisdom that has helped me run more satisfying games. Trying to share some less common advice. These are my opinions and techniques that have helped me. I’d love to hear what has worked for other /tg/ DMs.1. Time pressure- adding time pressure through use of "clocks" including real life clocks is incredibly helpful to add pressure and tension to a scenario. Giving players choices but not enough time to make every choice adds meaning to those choices. Time pressure in combat is a contentious, but powerful tool to discuss with your players. Forcing a decision in seconds makes combat stressful and - when players are on board- fun (in anticipation of the common objection: if the players don’t make a choice in combat, I usually come back to them before round end, I never have them “just stand there”. Remember to assume character competency).2- The GM-ing engine- It's okay to front load content and prepare a few different rail-roady hooks in the first few sessions. Being a GM is like starting one of those old prop engines with a winch. It takes a while for the pistons (players) to kick into gear. Once they do, after a few sessions, all you need to do is apply gas. Solve the tavern problem by figuring out how characters know each other prior to the first session. 3- Immersion means impact- After a session, reflect on how the player choices affected the world (for good or ill), try to let the ripple of that effect emerge in the next session. Players that feel like they change the world around them invest in it.
>>97287201Alright so you don't have "questions", since your post only contains one question and it's a pretty retarded one at that.
>>97286800>Modern and milsim games are all about being GOOD at preparation. You could just as well argue your character should know what he's taking
>>97287234Count again. They're easy to find on account of the punctuation.
>>97287402I did count, that's still the only unanswered question. Seems like you're just stupid and can't handle disagreement.
>>97287380I'm not playing your Carved From Brindlewood MGS2 game.

why are many creators so afraid of making a setting with napoleonic wars era technology?
>>97286742I remember reading about officers complaining that kneeling men that went down to let the others behind them shoot sometimes weren't that eager to stand back up, which is interesting because is what is to be expected form basic human behaviour but also suggests that that was indeed the basic expectation.Formations standing while shooting at each other were bound to happen more often than not anyway, low visibility and slow c&c meant that once you engaged an enemy formation you had to stay there until someone else around you could give you a cleaner picture of what was going on. It was also reported during the ACW (and I assume it was the same during the napolonic period) that formations were harder to move after engaging the enemy in a firefight because there developed a sense of committment. Think about the medieval warfare reports of formations fighting like men obsessed over an imaginary line until one side finally broke, but in slower, ranged fights.
>>97285005They're a decent amount but they're niche for a variety of aforementioned reasons as well as a new one:Most fans of that era are a specific historical fag that has deep and intractable concerns about the number of buttons on the cavalry coats of the 23rd Whogivesafuck in the year of 18old at the battle of eurotown34532 being a lighter hue of red because 2nd cousin of Duke Nonuts the 3rd's favourite colour was Tart Orange (#fb4d46 ) and he will get in your face about it. No one wants to deal with that. If you haven't seen them>Sludge >Silver Bayonet >Turnip 28>Innocence: Cube War are all in that area although no one has made a proper grand scale battle game for it which is a gap. I've been noodling with Blucher and contemplating adding fantastical rules. Mixing whichever DBA does Napoleonic era with Horde of the Things is also likely feasible.
>>97287368Thanks for the suggestions anon.
>>97287345The ACW should never be compared to the Napoleonic war, for one it's half a century later, and the equipment, tech, and weaponry heavily reflect that, but also the troops and officers very significantly less professionally drilled than Napoleonic armies
>>97287345ACW is a different kettle of fish. In Peninsular times, you'd advance into the literal fog of war. You wanted to be sure of the enemy's dispersement, and so if you were faced with a bank of riflesmoke (and occasional fire) it was safer to march in, break up stragglers and hold the ground than it was to sit still and lose men (not to mention becoming a target of cannon, counter charges by cavalry, etc.). This should not be assumed to cover siege/fortification fighting which was a different thing entirely. Plus skirmishers playing by different rules, as it were.By the time of the ACW the infantry's rate of fire was such that only very close charges were advisable. If you marched a unit into a solid defence you lost that unit before they could arrive in close quarters. This is made more true as you move toward WW1 with the more widespread use of machinegun positions.

>>97285976>GM failed the Sally-Anne testYou failed it actually. The GM passed by having the Orc realistically target someone with a ranged attack when it couldn't just rush into melee with him.
>>97287241Only real question is if the Orc knew they were thereOther than that, I agree
>>97287241Not him, but I disagree. If we're looking at this from the perspective of the orc he just got hit by some kind of flashbang. He comes out, sees an armored foe before him, and then looks past that foe to some other guy behind some houses and decides to attack him instead. And if he's a " berserker" doesn't that indicate someone that brawls the first enemy closest to him?If I'm the DM of this game and I see a player clearly indicate he's moving to the far back in cover with a bow, the enemies just got surprised by a flashbang, and another player is stepping up to the front to challenge the enemy, I'm likely not going to be playing orcs as 140 IQ enemies who swiftly look at the cleric and determine that's the tank while looking at the rogue and going "Obviously we must target that one with the lower armor and can do sneak attack."
>>97287333Trips of truth.I'd just like to add that the 5 minutes pause is a pretty good indicator that the "familiar" came into existence only to justify targeting sneaky anon instead of the frontliner.
>>97287333>If we're looking at this from the perspective of the orc he just got hit by some kind of flashbang. He comes out, sees an armored foe before him, and then looks past that foe to some other guy behind some houses and decides to attack him instead. This Orc, who by OPs description was unaffected by the flashbang (unlike his buddies who DON'T attack OP) decided to use a ranged attack on the rogue that's sitting in the back who's squishier and more vulnerable. Which is quite reasonable.>And if he's a " berserker"That's OP's description. We don't know what this Orc actually was or how he might have actually been described.Presumably this is an Orc with a level or several in Barbarian, and nothing about Barbarian Rage or anything related to it says you must act irrationally and foolishly or takes away tactical control from your character. The rest of your post is just backseat DMing (And kind of retarded DMing at that. Even a dumb animal could tell the difference between a squishy target and a tough one) which I don't think is really worth addressing. If the DM had all the Orcs present immediately focus down the Rogue like a telepathically coordinated squad of combat geniuses, I think he'd be fair to call bullshit. But he hit him with one (1) attack from an Orc that was unaffected by a flash bomb and clearly more experienced than the rest of the Orcs, and yet OP decided to bitch and moan even though this had zero real consequences. That makes OP a faggot, even if the rest of what his DM did was retarded.

Everyone I know who watches Fatt Coville videos is a fucking terrible GM. I've never fully watched one and I am widely considered the best GM out of all 3 groups I'm part of. I am regularly requested to run campaigns. People borderline fall asleep in the games others run. There's also no tension because they know that these Coville acolytes will fudge rolls until all PCs survive the battle. If you're a good GM, it's an inmate talent you can hone over time. You're born that way. If you aren't, then no amount of shitty advice is going to make up for your lack of talent. It just is what it is. This idea that everyone should "try" DMing is retarded. The idea that anyone can be good at it? lolno. Its like some fat divorced on who suddenly decides he's gonna become a famous author. Fat chance. Most people fucking suck at GMing. Hell, most of them suck at playing, but at least in that case the game depends less on them.

>>97287235Actively fighting against the DM's previous guidance. If I told you that your characters are from a kingdom that's deeply superstitious and has outlawed spellcasting so you should roll up martial characters, and you show up with a bladesinger who's "totally just a normal swordsman...for all he knows *wink wink*", it goes in the trash. No, he doesn't "just not realize he's the one doing things", wizards learn magic through study. You were told to roll a martial character and actively chose not to.If I told you that the setting has a homebrew pantheon and here's the list of gods, and you show up with a cleric of Pelor, he's getting binned. No, he isn't "just a crazy kook who worships a made-up god...or, at least, that's what everyone ELSE thinks", divine power comes from the deities that actually exist. You were told the constraints of the setting and actively chose to ignore them.Shit like that. I'll work with players to massage silly concepts into something that makes in-universe sense, I'll whip up some new homebrew material to cover corner cases in which you have a solid concept but the mechanics aren't quite clicking, but the point at which you're either ignoring me or deliberately trying to provoke me is the point at which I don't feel like it's worth my time to do either.
>>97287338>The fuck kind of argument is this supposed to be?"Stop complaining about small problems when there's far bigger problems">>97287356>True Strike? You basically always have INT for your attacks. Extra Attack would make only one of your attacks use non-INT when you're not in Bladesong.Opportunity attacks exist. And again, there's still no reason to not use a rapier. You haven't said anything the Bladesinger loses by using a rapier instead of a longsword.>>97287323>They undermine the entire point of having stats in the first place, replacing the different use cases with "just use your single core stat for everything"That's a good argument. And there are plenty of good arguments for removing the feature and those like it. Game balance just isn't one of them.
>>97287289>What would you count as interesting or vice versa?Needs to fit tone and theme. No joke characters in serious campaign. No overloaded demon shadow fey half-ogres aasimars. No transpose from some other work of fiction.Needs to have something interesting that can be played and makes a character and interacts with the world to generate situations and brings something to the table, dm, and other players. No Johnny Adventurer Blankface McMyself The Player Here To Clear Content. Even if it's a wooden leg or fear of water or a bounty on your head, whatever. Your "grappling build" may be the reason you wanna play it, but it's not interesting to anyone else.Needs a goal for adventuring that isnt "i wanna level up" or "I wanna become more powerful". Adventuring into tombs and crypts and helping towns with threats is a job that is taken out of NECESSITY, not a casual occupation. Wanna be a powerful mage? study in the academy. Wanna be rich? Open a shop. The character needs to be moved by this other goal to adventure. "I wanna do this, therefore helping the town guard/slaying the monster for money/escorting the merchant/etc will get me closer to that goal". I fucking hate "for no reason at all I decided to walk into danger"
