A determined necromancer wants to travel from Sylvania to Khemri to find the secrets of immortality.
He travels south, breaking his way through a dwaven mountain pass around
Karak Hirn. The dwarfs rally an army to chase him down.
From Khemri a Tomb King pushes north to reclaim ancient territories in the Badlands, clashing with the necromance's hordes in the process.
And obviously the dwarfs are not too particular when it comes to killing undead, attacking both armies on sight.

The Necromancer faces immortality or destruction as he tries to harness the death magic of the ancient obelisks...

Three days after the incident with Skivare, the same guards who captured the bandit were again on duty at the gate. Slowly and calmly Skogsrå walks out onto the road holding an odd colored rose. She doesn't look at the guards, nor the city, but waits at the edge of the road a short distance from the gate.

Assuming you mean hand crossbows?
>>
>>96462073
the Crossbow Expert feat mention both so no
Anyway, any ideas on the rest?
>>
>>96462109
The light crossbow doesn't have the Light property. Ignoring Loading and Firing in Melee work with all crossbows, but Dual Wielding only benefits hand crossbows. You want hand crossbows (plural) or a heavy crossbow (singular). Light crossbow is what a character uses if they're not good at crossbowing.
Your gloomstalker is fine and functional and hits the main points. Get dex to 20 with ASI or two more half feats.
Dex Fighter is probably the best ranged weapon user, but not by so much that you shouldn't play a ranger if you want to. Fighter gets the most from Great Weapon Master with longbow/heavy xbow (Crossbow Expert feat tax) to boost damage output, though Dreadful Strike and spells help the gloom stalker up keep with the extra attacks the fighter gets.
>>
>>96462218
Sounds good, I'll stick with the Gloom Stalker if the damage difference isn't too big
What do you think of Hunter, better or worse than the Gloom Stalker with ranged weapons? oh it depends on the situation

Thanks, bro. D&D autists are lucky to have their series be popular enough where you can type things such as "how to play 3.5e" and catch someone up to speed within an hour. I will do what that guy on /d/ did and make a giant monster girl enemy.

>I'll bite, anon. What's your experience with it? First glance at the main system puts in mind of the old WEG Star Wars game.

It's simpler than the old WEG D6. In short, you just take the two highest values as your results.
It's over all clean and smooth to run, Combat feels natural. It's cheap enough so just get it and try it.
There's a third book, the Black Star Companion that rounds out the system. With all three books it really does feel like a combined arms type game without getting bogged down with an overly complex system.

Despite Halloween being my favorite holiday, I may just boycott it over this shit. Christmas is already unbearable. I don't want corporations to ruin everything I love.
>>
>>96462254
One could argue that Halloween is already saturated and ruined, so ruining it further isn't really possible. It exists in corporate awareness mainly as an excuse to sell candy, pre-fab costumes, and risque "costumes". This is just to jab the crowd that thinks there's a "War on Christmas" and thinks that Halloween is "Satanic". Because they have it coming.

You should be more nervous. Halloween is the only fit rival to Christmas, animatronic Santas would already be here if Halloween costumes weren't occupying the shelf space, so what is Christmas planning that's provoking Halloween like that?

It's supposedly going to be dropping here soon (it was supposed to drop this summer, but apparently they needed more time to cook). I went to their Twitter page, and it only has 120 followers, so I'm feeling a little nervous. Worst case scenario, I can pinch off lore that they've promised to include if they completely butcher the actual game mechanics and shoehorn things into a better system if I have to. I hope I don't.

Anyone familiar with Skydawn games, or are they a "literally who" of the TTG scene?

Wait, so it's not just og Phantasy Star? I'm pretty sure these guys come from PSO.
>>
>>96458896
They're pulling content from PS 1~4 as well as PS0 & PSOBB. I think you could probably bend and shape the content to fit PSO2 and other media as well if you wanted.

PSO2 & NG are very fast-paced, though. Practically DMC-style combat. I don't know if you could translate that same feeling of frenetic action to a tabletop game. Compared to the slower and more methodical PSO & PS0 anyway.
>>
>>96459191
I see. I wouldn't really mind the system not trying to simulate PSO2's combat as long as it had cool rules for the classes and the monsters, especially for the Dark Falzs (Falzes?) and other bosses.

It would be a massive missed opportunity, if not outright disservice to the IP, if the game didn't acknowledge Online.

The thread to talk about Super Heroes/Villains/Spies/Agents/Rogues be it in spandex or not.

Popular Choices for Games:

>Mutants & Masterminds
Currently the most played one, uses a d20 resolution for everything, has powers building and rules for tactical combat.

>Marvel TSR/ FASERIP
Classic Supers game from the 80s, still has a lot of fans and various retro-clones. Uses a d100 with an universal resolution table to decide the degree of success, has random character generation and abstract rules for powers and combat.

>Masks (PbtA)
Rules light game with focus on narrative. Less rules reading more making stuff up on the moment. Game is built on the concept of playing as young heroes but you can use it for more mature settings.

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, Judge Dredd, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void, Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenotactics...
...and anything else that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread.

>Any experts here able to decipher the contents of WGA's Boneblades to know if they are good for starting an undead army?
Not an expert, but it's literally just ten bases' worth of skeleton infantry with some command stands and a pile of skulls. For Vampire Countts you could paint some of them green to be an Ethereal Host and maybe put gold trim for Grave Guard but beyond that you need some other options to have a viable Warmaster army. At standard points values one box is about 300 points or a bit more than an eighth of an army. If you stretch it with Ethereals you could squeeze two boxes up to about a third of one.
For Fell Bats Reaper sells some cheap vampire bats that'd work with a little chopping and sculpting to change the tombstones into rocky outcrops or ruined buildings.
https://www.reapermini.com/search/bat/sku-up/03355
https://www.reapermini.com/search/bat/sku-up/07071 (Bones version of the pewter one above)
https://www.reapermini.com/search/bat/sku-up/07058
and this dude https://www.reapermini.com/search/bat/sku-up/03902 could be a fun Winged Nightmare.

Tomb Kings use more skeleton infantry than the VC. Again it's ~300 points out of 2000. I'd put money on WGA having a skeleton cavalry/chariot and an archer set in the pipe, which would flesh out most of their line infantry options. A bone giant is just a 28mm skeleton and a bunch of people do passable siege engines and sphinxes.
>>
>>96461920
I'd say 2-5 more squads/vehicle groups so that you can substitute some of your other models while trying different compositions and you are golden.
Maybe add some infantry mortar teams? Or other crew served weapons.

I dunno why people freak out over the discord like they don't have an entire page in the book ranting about how playing the game itself is inherently antifacist action, it's designed from the bottom-up to promote gay communism, and that they apologize for being unfortunately white, straight, and not retarded.

They say outright, the game was made to "help people fight back". Not to be fun or anything silly like that lol
"in solidarity" fucking christ. This isn't even a game, it's a communist daycare center with gay robots.

>>96462094
It's set in the diaspora, predominantly in a colony I named Sterling, as you can see on the hex map overview I created here >>96444624

The basic summary is: After Seccom collapsed, there were a bunch of holdover revolutionaries and random nobodies looking for work that IPS-N were keeping track of, as well as leftover colonists from a failed settlement they still had tabs on. Northstar decided to hedge their bets and think long term - they rounded them all up together and gave them an opportunity to colonize a valuable new earth-like planet they found far out there, sent a colony package with them and basically told them "Alright, you'll be on your own and in exchange for your own independent colony we get dibs on economic development in the system you'l be living in. We'll come back in a century or two, hope to see you making good development progress. Good luck!" While the corporate was handling internal affairs in the upheaval aftermath of Seccom.

It's been a couple decades since then and they've established themselves, but the planet turned out to be really harsh: If it's name "Tempest" didn't give it away it's got quite the active weather systems, and even without that the wildlife is quite nasty and belligerent on average too. Thus, it's been slow going in terms of development, but progress is still happening, albeit slowly.

Unfortunately, there's numerous other problems besides tempest herself: there's rumors of pirates lurking in the system, as well as a growing disgruntling in the colony. See, the two distinct factions: union revolutionaries and the original colonists don't exactly see eye to eye when it comes to independence, governance, community and whatnot, and a hefty amount of unrest is brewing. It's not gotten hot just yet, but a spark might cause things to start igniting.

That about does it, anything you want me to elaborate on or give feedback for?

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). >Fantasy mecha, yea or nay?
>They're very cool, I fucking love them, but the more I think about it, less I'm sure of what it adds to a tabletop game.
A PC Fighter in a mecha can operate at the level of an enemy combat formation, but to enter the dungeon he has to get out of the mecha (it doesn't fit in the dungeon). This allows the same character to operate on the level of mass combat and small group tactics.

So you don't actually want mechs, got it.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to TSR-era D&D, derived systems, and compatible content.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons as played in the game's first decade — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching meta-plots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started.

My idea was to keep it 100% as authentic and historical as possible, rewatched the Rome tv series, the whole deal. Then as a DM I had to find a way to make druids scary, so of course I gave them magic powers (MUs to make it more sword and sorcery). Shit went sideways from there. Soon druids went from throwing a fireball here and there to raising undead armies, and how to forget the barbarian werewolves! Rather than keeping it at that cozy level, I kept upping the ante to the point there was a whole zombie apocalypse, so the players escaped to Egypt with Mark Antony and at that point you just have to add the pyramids and Stargate, and that's where it ended.

Fun campaign (really short too, I don't think it lasted more than 20 sessions), still want to run a proper historical campaign tho.
