/tg/, I'm designing a campaign for my group.
The campaign consists from three acts. As a whole, they cover levels from 1 to 20.
What happens in the first act is immaterial for this thread.
In the very beginning of the second act, however, they will meet the big villain of the campaign, who decides that they're going to be a threat to his master plan and immediately kills them all right at the end of a gruelling dungeon. The player characters then go to Valhalla, meet not!Odin and then return to life with a divine quest.
Half of the second act will involve fulfilling this quest to pay not!Odin back for their resurrection. The other half involves revenge against the villain.

Now, obviously if they just reveal themselves, they'd just be killed again. So they'll be gently suggested to assume false identities and infiltrate the villain's massive army of mercenaries in order to foil his plan from the inside. By the end of the act, the villain's army will be gone, his personal power extinguished, and then he'll die as the final boss of the act.
That's the idea. However, I keep thinking about how it'll actually go. I have 7-9 dungeons in mind for the second act. That is a lot of sessions spent under secret identities, while everyone believes that they're dead. While the undercover arc could potentially be interesting, I'm also seeing the potential for it to be very exhausting to actually go through.

Should I just pre-emptively cut the "undercover" part to just 1 or 2 dungeons? It's going to be pretty difficult to change them on the fly, if I see that this story is not working.

He says, unable to conceive of any group being different from his own, thinking it not only improbable, but literally impossible, because his imagination and capacity for empathy is in the negatives.
>>
>>96495536
you acuse people of not being able to imagine different scenarios and right after that imagine that people had a single group their whole life. It's fine, you're young and think you have everything figured out, you'll realize how dumb you were with time. That's how it works.

>you acuse people of not being able to imagine different scenarios
It's not an accusation but a statement of fact. When I tell you how my group is, you simply claim that can't possibly exist and get angry when I shrug and don't... What, exactly? Tell you that I'm just making this all up to farm (you)s from retards?
I don't even see why you're here except to get mad that I'm uninterested in advice given through ignorance.
>>
>>96494860
So you don't present them with a choice. What's even the point of that? If you've already decided what actions they WILL take, what fights they WILL lose, what fights they WILL win, why even involve players at all?

The format was never really meant to be a 'fic' prompt. It only helps to make short stories at best and discussion around daydreaming. But you can't really make a story that by default spans at least 10 years per chapter and the MC gets exponentially stronger.

Just going to ignore the original suggested street level power limit for perks so jumpers would have to interact with the settings to become stronger, creating narratives.

Ragtag squad edition

>What this thread is for:
/tg/ gets shit done again and is creating a “Battle Bible” (Ala 2nd edition) for 4th edition Warhammer 40k.
>What this thread isn’t for:
Alternative ideas for what 4th edition could include, such as alternating activations, new unit ports, etc. This is a Stage 4 process and so there's plenty of time for that later on.
Don't engage edition warriors, trolls and rule revisionists. We're trying to keep it tight; mannered and objective focused.

BATTLE PLAN:
Stage 1:Finish revising and formatting the SRD.
Stage 2:Compile all GW official erratas into the SRD.
Stage 3: Condense all the codices into up to date SRD. - pending
Stage 4: Make a Hobby Enthusiast supplement for the SRD.
Stage 4: Make an Optional Rules supplement for the SRD.

Ahhhh there it is, the sad attempt to link clubs - the default mode of play in civilised nations - with tourneyshitterfaggots. Thus the nogaem reveals itself, hissing as the light strikes its heinous pale form. Just because you mashed models together alone on your carpet because nobody wanted to be around you doesn't mean everyone else had the same experience. And holy shit faggot, who bullied you? Because you have to be carrying around some serious unresolved issues to believe that's what "running a club" entails lol, it's admin and marketing you don't make the rules you absolute mongoloid, the job sucks so much it usually gets assigned from the club board by drawing lots. No matter how hard you cope by pretending everyone else's experience was as shitty and isolated as yours, it's not gonna stick bud, too many of us were actually around.
>>
>>96493192
You can't target individual models within a unit.
The rest of the unit are basically extra wounds for the Nob with a power klaw
Unless you are sniper or some special rule like turning someone into a spawn

Turns out I misremembered, because in the 3rd edition characters can direct their attacks in close combat. The nob still has to be engaged with the IC in the 4th edition, and boyz who are not engaged with the IC can't be allocated wounds caused by the IC.

I love Dominion but base game was bad. Then they changed base game and intrigue by taking out some cards and adding new ones. But it's still not great. You really do need the expansions.

Well now you've gone and spoiled what my follow up would have been. I liked the Perry stuff, but availability seems limited in the U.S. To assemble the physical army I had planned, Wargames Atlantic makes early WWI Germans that are quite a good value. Just keep it to the Pickelhaubes and use the stahlhelms for Sturmtruppen. They've got Maxim MGs as well. A mech is currently on my 3D printer at the moment.
God only knows when I'll have time to paint.

First time posting on here, so excuse the clumsy nature of this thread.

I've been pretty unsatisfied with how bare bones and downright vacant the Elemental Planes are in traditional Dungeons and Dragons. So I started writing my own additions, which has slowly ballooned out into a much bigger project. Adding not only new locations, but also biomes, creatures, cultures, and ways of life.

In short, aside from showing off what I have so far, I need help. I've pretty much exhausted my pool of knowledge and inspiration and I'm far from done. So I'm throwing my net into this ocean hoping to get new perspectives and ideas that I wouldn't have on my own. I don't just want to make something up just for the hell of it, I want to make something that feels cohesive and plausible given the fantastical elements. Math, Science, History, Obscure Mechanics, One Off Ideas - I want it all.

If any of this sounds interesting, please take a look. Over 40k works split over the Planes of Fire, Air, and Water.

>I was thinking something along the lines of those who came here using the inhospitable environment as a means of escape. Running away from such standards.
I could see it being a mix of both. Not only is it a fine spot to have reclusive artisans or monk-like enclaves testing themselves against the elements, but it being such a harsh region could serve as a hideout for any rogue elements for the same reason. It's not going to be as hospitable, so it won't be as possible for people to search or patrol there if somebody doesn't want to be found.
Although then again, that sort of haven of outlaws might also be better achieved by some sort of abyssal zone without light. Not that I'm quite sure how that works out with a lack of surface.

Aquatic mammals also might have a trickier time existing in a polar ocean without a surface though. Glacial caves with air pockets could potentially allow for that. Or if the walruses and whales are something magical and stranger, where they just 'breathe' while in contact with ice or something.
The lack of surface is a good element though that I think you should keep. Too often planes of water just end up boiling down to an extra ocean because there's massive areas of air that people can just sail ships on.
Having it be more akin to space, where there's planetoids of ice or coral helps things feel more exotic and alien.

Writing General: 'summer days' edition

Welcome to /wg/, the thread for all /tg/ related writing. Whether you're plotting your campaign, trying to come up with a character backstory, or just trying to write some setting fluff, this is the place to post it. You don't even have a campaign, just an idea you want to develop? You're welcome here. While the rest of /tg/ is arguing over monstergirl mating and which way rivers are supposed to flow, we're here to help you turn your thoughts into an actual finished product.

As the successor to the Storythreads, we're also open to /tg/ related fanfiction (D&D, Warhammer, Battletech, whatever). In fact, if you've written any vaguely /tg/-related short stories, you can try them out here. We also have flash-fiction challenges from time to time.

There's a discord for writers here
https://discord.gg/6AwKHGF

The previous thread can still be found in the archive here
>>95441002

And finally an archive of /tg/ fiction can be found here:
http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Storythread (dead link, but may be resurrected one day)

I swear I threw Hellsing in there because its a really great example on OP characters, but man..these coincidences just give me the fucking ju-ju creeps shiieet. Ok, silliness aside, I like where you're taking the story anon, specially this kind of less demi-godly vampires. I may be wrong but what you described reminds me of vampire the masquerade maybe? like with the x power per bloodline plus variations, that can be pretty fun to write.

I dont think you'd necessarily push the character into a mary sue-ness status, specially if you first present and elaborate on the human protagonist and THEN you introduce the coprotag in all his grandeur. In a way its also kinda similar to the Castlevania-Trevor-Sipha-Alucard formula and I agree theres no point on going with a vampire story if theres no showcase of their powers or their longevity, I say have fun with it.

Its kinda of a trope but the hunter/'prey' interactions are pretty fun too if worked correctly, kind of like Van Helsing/Dracula, of course there was more to it with the whole Gabriel backstory but thats part of it.

Kind of a silly question at this point but is it a book or a comic/graphic novel format you are working on?

Don't worry. It's the sixth novel I'm working on. This project has been a lot of fun so far. Never worked on something vampire-related and can't really say that I have been hugely into this topic before as well. But it's a timeless classic, and still so much you can do with it.

Magic by far because Magic is unfixable. There is literally nothing you can do to make Magic okay again. You'd have to somehow un-print thousands of Universes Beyond cards, racecar cards, robot cards, spaceship cards, all the lore-breaking bullshit cards need to be made nonexistent somehow (not just banned, nonexistent). Warhammer, as shit as it gets, is always just one good edition away from being good again.

It's supposedly going to be dropping here soon (it was supposed to drop this summer, but apparently they needed more time to cook). I went to their Twitter page, and it only has 120 followers, so I'm feeling a little nervous. Worst case scenario, I can pinch off lore that they've promised to include if they completely butcher the actual game mechanics and shoehorn things into a better system if I have to. I hope I don't.

Anyone familiar with Skydawn games, or are they a "literally who" of the TTG scene?
