Warning: high onions content detected below!this got me thinking about how /tg/ is basically the Imperium, we had a glorious past, then the age of Newfags, and now after the hack heresy we might as well be living in the ever crumbling ruins of that can only hint at the glorious past that is at this point lost knowledge and something we will never get back
>>96514200Modern /tg/ would tell 2007-2008 /tg/ to go to /v/Plus back then it was just 40k and edition wars, we have fewer creative types around now than we had back then, but it's just because 4chan is no longer the only game in town. >>96510461The well got very poisoned by cosplayers. It's just not as easy to resuscitate the genre compared to cyberpunk. They both tend towards similar themes, but cyberpunk can re-adapt its aesthetic to match the times and maintain relevance, while steampunk is more locked in.
What is your character's life philosophy?
>ooh, shiny!
Barbo: A hopeless romantic that who believes in the power of forgiveness and righteousness but when you boil it all down, he'll say something like "it's wrong to kill people!"Græinn: He would describe himself as an awakened psychic (in Gnostic terms) that's attempting to become pneumatic. In terms of personal philosophy, he's a radical individualist. For society, he'd say it would depend on the capabilities of the society and the niche that it finds itself in; he's seen far too many examples of different political philosophies both working and not, that it would take a better philosopher than him to truly describe it.One character is a L11 Stalker (Judge archetype) or an alter ego of L9 Cleric, L2 Exalted. Started out human but I rolled the one number on a d100 resurrection roll to become a Kitsune. The other character is an L4 Oracle, L4 Highlord, L5 Cerebremancer-but-homebrewed with a homebrewed bugman race. We're playing with background skills, so he has points in Artistry (Philosophy). Yes, I did use it to pen a philosophical treatise that our party handed off to a ruler to have her use a subject of refutation to justify her political rise to power and consolidation of several neighboring states.

Anyone managed to make miners work in Expeditionary Force?I've been trying because I love the unit and the idea of it. I may just suck at using them, but my finding is>80% of the time they come up at a time where there's nothing to threaten, so I either put them in the back lines to be shot to death/charged and pushed off the next term or use them as a very expensive screen>20% things go according to keikaku and an opponents unit get's sandwiched between miners and another unit, leading to them getting charged from the rear regardless of what they doI basically have just been using them to "debuff" my list for newer opponents, giving them something to destroy (probably) and taking up points from warmachines/gunlines

>>96515539It shouldn't be a skill or an advantage. It should be a technique. And it shouldn't require ETS or Precognition if you can see the shooter. If you can see the shooter and his weapon, then you can read his body language and the orientation of his weapon to predict the moment and line of attack. It should be very difficult as to be impractical compared to just dodging or blocking, but it shouldn't require exotic advantages.
This >>96518921.I allow melee skills to parry ranged attacks at a penalty depending on the relative SM of the projectile, to a maximum penalty of -10 to skill (-5 to Parry) at an SM difference of 10 or more (as by that point, your striking surface is larger than the projectile). You can reduce this penalty to 0 with a technique. This is difficult enough that most mundane warriors are better off not even trying, but it's a viable option for cinematic warriors. If you can see the shooter, then there's no penalty for projectile speed, because you're parrying the line of attack. If you can't, then you get no defense, unless you have ETS, Precognition, or high Perception. If you can see the projectile, then you can make a defense at a penalty to skill equal to the Speed penalty of the projectile. Precognitive Parry is changed to Precognitive Defense, and a successful skill roll lets you ignore all penalties relating to Size/Speed when defending against ranged attacks.Melee weapons and unarmed limbs take damage when used to parry firearms and missile weapons, but any DR on the weapon or limb counts as 5x normal against the attack. You can accept an arbitrary penalty before you parry, giving +1 to the DR multiplier per -1 to Parry.I still have Parry Missile Weapons as a separate skill, even though any melee skill can parry ranged attacks. Its main advantage is that it's at +3 to Parry compared to melee skills, can be used unarmed or with any weapon, and has a cinematic technique (at -5 to Parry by default) that lets you reflect bullets/lasers directly back at attackers.Pic unrelated.

>>96517825What's funny is that the kinds of restrictions that OP is talking about are neither universal in D&D, nor impossible to overcome in cases where they exist.I'd like to think OP is just a troll, but it's possible that he's just retarded. Not sure which is the worse outcome. Do people still SERIOUSLY care about "balance" or "martials vs casters" in tabletop roleplaying games in the Year of Our Lord two thousand and twenty fucking five?? >>96515707>>96515749I think i've played an alright about of vampire games, but this is the one aspect about vampire I don't know if people experience the same.I don't see people roleplay their hunger for blood and generally treats it like a resource point because personal horror rarely fits well with the chronicle. I think this might be because the storytellers are normally interested in promoting their plot or the politics of the vampires in x area. Maybe cross splat drama, but I cannot remember the last game where it focus on how vampires get food, how they feel about drinking from others, or people they care about being in danger. I guess maybe it's different in the youtube tabletop games like by night youtube channels. Did I just have a shitty vampire experience? Am I a bad player or had bad storytellers? Maybe both?
>>96518537That's normal, or even expected. Players feeding is fun to act and focus on the first few times.Afterwards it is just a chore. Whatever it's Blood Pool or Hunger, at one point, either the player or the ST or both just goes "Yep, you fed."
>>96518537This is a matter of definitions. If someone tells me they have never seen another player roleplay out being hungry when low on blood, even something as simple as "Fuck, I'm hungry. Where's a late night jogger when you need one...", it sounds to me like they're living on another planet. At the same time, a game that "focuses" on how a vampire gets their blood would be insanely boring, since it'd be a game entirely about subsistence and would very much feel samey, especially once you figured out a good system. Feeding, unless under stressful or otherwise extenuating circumstances, doesn't merit being focused on. It's the old "who puts new tires on the batmobile?" thing. Feeding isn't the focus because honestly, if vampires really struggled to feed themselves on the night to night, they wouldn't have grand conspiracies and Elders would be incredibly rare. The Masquerade itself becomes far less plausible. It just doesn't make for a very entertaining story and it's a storytelling game. Still, whenever I make a player character, I go out of my way to figure out how they prefer to hunt for blood, as well as the other practical realities of their unlives. But that's because I like to flesh out my characters. Not because I expect the ST to indulge me with a unique encounter every time I roll a hunt. That's just a waste of everyone's time. Whether or not you had a shitty experience depends entirely on if you had fun or not. Whether or not your ST is good or not depends on how much fun was had because of their choices vs. in spite of them. I can't say if you're a bad player or not because you didn't say anything about what you did in play.
