Itt we help each other find a system that fits given setting.I'm looking for something fitting Blue Archive lore. >>96535514The difficulty of producing antimatter are totally irrelevant compared to containment lmao. I simply don't want to sit on a bomb that could go off if someone sneezes the wrong way around it. Pretty sure nobody ever wants to. Containment is a real problem, unless you enjoy being scattered across the solar system. Even if you COULD produce bountiful harvests of antimatter, it's still spooky as shit to be within a million miles of.

>>96535571Gasoline is nowhere even in the same magnitude as antimatter. It is extremely fucking stable and safe. I can hand a jerry can full of it to a child and tell them to fill up a lawnmower with it and not be worried.Lithium batteries aren't much worse despite their bad rap for exploding when punctured. You do not have a shred of a chance with antimatter containment failure. Fractions of an instant of failure is instant, certain death. There is no way to make the "fuck everything" atoms safer. There is an acceptable level of spiciness. Even fission reactors are several orders of magnitude safer than antimatter. And most people are (needlessly) spooked about that. I can shoot gasoline with a gun a thousand times and it will never go up in flames. Gasoline is arguably safer to handle than a literal horse.

Trench Crusade General - /trench/Weird love Edition >What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu. >What Trench Crusade is not TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic. >What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes. >How do I get started? All the files are free online, but are split between the website and the discord. What is the point of the warwolf being artificial? The keywoard doesnt come with inherent benefits or drawbacks according to the keyword section. The witch, lions and bulls also have artificial in their abilities (artificial life/body) which causes different effect and the lion and bull arent even subject to the artificial keyword (which doesnt do anything anyway?). Seems like something that needs cleaning up.
>>96535608Tuomas can add things later that impacts Artificial creatures. Alternately you can come up with some stuff to make it into a real keyword for flavor. Maybe certain objectives that require not being artificial too capture etc.

>>96535424I don't know but I miss them.
>>96533538The trigger type that affects you is based on Harmony. So for the moon trigger set you've got the Specific trigger of the scene being in moonlight. The Common trigger of seeing your auspice moon. Then the Passive trigger of your auspice moon being in the sky.At 5 Harmony none of these matters but the further you drift the more you get. So at 3-4 and 6-7 the Specific one is the only one you need to deal with. At 1-2 and 8-9 you add in the Common trigger too. Then at 0 or 10 you add in the Passive. You only need to take extreme steps to avoid it if you're off the deep end already. Kuruth isn't a guaranteed thing either and it's also fairly useful as a tool too.
>>96535162Thanks! It's set in Victorian England and I'm planning on playing a Farwalker Ogre of the Autumn Court. These are the most hit or miss aspect of my games. How do you run them? How do you deal with misseable clues and dumb player derailments?
>>96525384GURPS really does work well as background material for other systems.
>>96512895>you aren't writing a novel>railroad a bad ending if players don't follow your plotSo which one it is?
>>96509801So far I know only three distinct models:1- BRP Call of Ctuhlhu: you roll to check if you find the clue; this is also the norm for most games out there2- InSpectres: Roll high enough and you get to narrate the clue finding3- Gumshoe: You automatically find the clueAre there any others, and how do they work? Also, feel free to expand on any of the above if you want to.I post this not only to see what other games there are, but also to try and find alternate solutions for the problem "if you fail to find the clue, the game dies".
>>96532766>3- Gumshoe: You automatically find the clueActually not. Core clues are what you find automatically*, but you do spend for, well, point-spend clues. For finer details and more clarity, basically.*=technically you don't spend for zero point clues, incospicious clues or simple searches as well.

These seem to be the most popular ways of doing armor in games. Which do you prefer and why? What are good alternatives you've seen?
>>96527879>Instead plate was something that first had to be developed and once developed it had to be available and affordableYeah but plate is a thing from the Mycenaean period in the 1500s BCE.And small, shitty, individual plates have been used for just as long. A popular example are how the Roman conscripts often armored themselves with a metal chest plate. It's not hard to make. If something only has studs, it's probably not armor, and it's definitely not stand alone. It might be an archer's brace, or given the bas reliefs it's probably meant to go with Mail armor, since the only depiction of the armor you described is of a guy wearing it underneath mail sleeves. Oh and, needless to say, we only have bracers and nothing else.
>>96525394>being able to dodge sword swings is anime>evading an attack you can see coming is anime
>>96515791I tend to prefer damage reduction since making it a defense value ends up leaving no mechanical distinction between being a dodgy fuck or a tanky fuck, and if you're not even bothering with that distinction how am I supposed to expect any other distinctions?>>96527259shadowrun actually does do this, with the difficulty of actually landing the hit being its own dice roll, followed by evasion as an active defense that uses your combat pool, and then you roll for damage resistance vs. weapon strength minus your armor value.
>>96527879>They consist of leather backed with five non-adjacent steel strips each attached by a profusion of rivets.Except that's not what DnD's studded elather is. That stuff is just the leather and the rivets, no internal plates. So nope, no redemption for DnD there.>Depictions of studded armour with much larger diameter studs or discs, not always backed with metal strips, have been known about for a much longer time.Yeah, interpreting artistic shorthand as exact realism is where we got a lot of the 19th century armor nonsense from.>Studs or discs with gaps between them ...You're trying to make the case for studded leather when the Estonian find you mentioned is right there to show you the truth? (I guess you're too busy wanking off over your own magnificence.) It's the metal splints that are the star of the show, not the studs.>>96528663>I was mostly joking, I prefer maille when referring to "chainmail" and "mail" when referring to scale mail or other kinds of mail because autism.Dude, that's stuff nearly as bad as the studded leather. Mail is mail, that's it. There's no need for "chain-", since there's no other types to differentiate it from. Scale armour is not scale mail. Plate armour is not plate mail. All of that nonsense comes form the same latrine-adjacent well that Gygax got his studded leather and ring mail and banded mail and so on from.
>>96535563>Except that's not what DnD's studded elather is.
The military should show up more often in cyberpunk settings/games. There's something really cool about corporation lackeys or street thugs getting BTFO by a whole other level of tech>but cyberpunk is about when the government is weakYeah but there's still going to be some kind of military and they ARE going to be way ahead 99% of corporations.
>>96535454Dodging the law doesn't mean the law doesn't exist. The legal ramifications of the gear they try to acquire for their jobs is very real and a constant source of potential trouble if they accidentally buy from undercover cops or a regular they buy from gets arrested and snitches on his customers to cover his own ass. Military-grade is still a meaningful distinction even in these cyberpunk settings for that reason, it means you're leaving the civilian market and either buying things that will get you thrown in buttfuck prison forever or you're shifting enough bills to buy whatever it is that it represents a massive investment for your team.
Problem is the usual corpos vs state idea is not really believable, so this kind of question is not even wrong.
>>96535493What I always find so difficult with suspending belief and immersion is the fact that they are still walking around everyday with these "military" grade upgrades.I suppose if it doesn't visibly turn you into something like Adam Smasher then going to get coffee from a cafe doesn't look as weird with your weaponized body unless it's all conveniently made so you still look like a person but built like a tank.
>>96535290when people say military grade they're usually implying its more durable, like cordura stuff
>>96533216>they ARE going to be way ahead 99% of corporations. Not really. The premise of Cyberpunk is that corpos have insane amounts of power. The megacorps are the ones researching all of that fancy tech that the government would be paying contracts for. And because the government is weaker, that means they don't have unlimited funds to buy the best bleeding-edge tech from every corp.If they did, then you wouldn't have a cyberpunk setting, because any megacorp that tries to go against the government wouldn't be able to stand up to a military cyborg raid. Which is precisely why the megacorps don't sell their best stuff to the military in cyberpunk, so that they can continue to do shit with impunity.
Did your character grow up with a father figure in their life?
>>96533571https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-A-q-uzBJ4
>>96525880Yes
>>96525880Yeah, and they had a good, if strict, relationship. My character is the eldest in the party and passes on some of the wisdom he inherited from his father at times to the younger folk who respond with mixed levels of interest. He was raised well enough, came of age, became a member of the clergy, took some time to care for his aging father, and was there for his end and oversaw his funeral service.
>>96525880Bout half of them have some kinda paternal parentage. The rest are some flavor of orphan with various relationships related to a teacher/student situation or a power structure, being the ward of some keeper or the experiment/creation of someone that developed a paternal relationship with their creator/researcher. I think only one or two don't have any father figure in their life.pic unrelated
>>96525880Most of them did, though not all.One was a magical abomination that escaped (wizard + monster + accident = them)...not much in the way of parental figures, though perhaps some of the wizard rubbed off on them? One is a street rat orphan type, who has a chance now and loved ones to care about; they're struggling a bit with it, but it'll likely work out. Some of the others had father figures, but they were lackluster or effectively supplanted. The manipulative tycoon-type girl with the older sister was even more that, would have only left so much room for her actual father to be a father figure, but she still did grow up in a household with one.Others presumably had them, but it never came up.Others definitely had them, and some were referenced in game or discussed with the GM on character ideas/backgrounds/etc... very few if any got any real screen time in any of the campaigns directly.

>>96535129it is extremely sloppy but i find it far from boring. Most of their funky custom rules come from 20+ years of experience and I found everything easy to implement. >>96535148In my west marches I take the players 8 points for backgrounds and I have them spread them in a 5/3 split. Each one is a short sentence, usually one includes their race and one includes their class. This emerged both to prevent the problems you list and because when I was having players generate their characters they would often pause and become hesitant at this step and this made it very simple. I have players generate their characters before I send them the SRD by giving them a list of talents and spells/powers/maneuvers/whatever and telling them to pick what sounds cool, and noting if there is a core class identity feature in the list like shadow walk or a core healing power or something. My rule set up specifically exists to stop players from abusing half-elf. No one has ever even mentioned half elves. Maybe Heinsoo and Tweet put in those hyper optimization abilities as a trap option, so players could trap themselves into ruining da game instead of playing it. We do tactics on the table not at character select. People complain my combats are too difficult lol
>>96535148like, a background is not a single thing you can do. It is not lockpicking. A background is ' i was part of the bewley burglar gang for 10 years when I lived in the alleys of axis as an urchin' and lets you do like 10 things.
