Buying two armies, some terrain and also investing the effort to make others join whatever game you love is something that can be done. Cheap-ish even. But i'd say this is not something a total hobby beginner should attempt. Joining an existing group to play with them requires less money, less effort and gets you involved with the local people. From there, maybe a year later, you still can try to promote a specific game.

Recently I found some Humanity Fuck Yeah YouTube videos that use AI voice narration on my feed. After using them as background noise while cleaning my apartment I found that that most of them are more or less the same. For example, I've read HFY stories where humanity was by far the smallest species in the galaxy, basically inchlings compared to most other aliens. This allowed us to do very unique roles, but being super short compared to everyone else isn't exactly something you're going to feel badass or brag about, so it's much less cringey.
