In "Flee, Mortals!" he says that sexism & racism are worse than terrorism. No, I'm not going to elaborate. I'm trying to get you to pirate his book because the thought of a woke cunt like him losing out on money is one of the few things that keep me from deepthroating my shotgun.

He suggested to read the Elusive Shift and it was a very good read and extremely eye opening so I thank him for that.
Other than that I didn't watch his videos.

It's wrong when you talk about elaborately lying about your rolls because your players got suspicious. He admits it himself in his own video. He'd set aside a die with whatever unlikely number he claimed to have rolled so he could pull back the screen and claim he was telling the truth. I think it's one thing to change the location of a secret door or have the players just so happen to find a scroll with the spell they'll need for a future encounter, and another when you're chronically lying to your players to the point they call you out on it and you go even further with your mind games to keep up the charade.

The difference is that 1e had the gods removed, while 2e had them at a remove. The pantheons in 2e didn't pack themselves off to their Godrealms and live in perpetual stasis as protection from Fatebinding. They stayed in close enough contact with the world that their cults continued for hundreds or thousands of years, but also somehow never evolved over the generations. The supernatural world has explicitly always been just beneath the surface in 2e, instead of fading memories and very rare divine vacations.

I've trained a couple of custom GPT to help me generate prompts step by step so I can use them to generate images, either with ChatGPT or Sora

for example, this is the refined prompt for >>96830543
>A modern-day witch with pale skin and striking gothic beauty stands in the center of a grungy, shadowy warehouse, captured in a mid-distance frontal view. Her black gothic-style clothing is richly textured — layers of dark velvet, lace, and leather forming a dramatic cloak and corseted silhouette. She wears no hat. She holds a kris dagger vertically before her chest, its curved blade pulsating with eerie purplish magical energy that bathes her face and torso in an unnatural underglow, casting warped, flickering shadows across her features and attire. Wisps of enchanted, violet-tinged smoke coil gently from the blade, weaving around her arms and cloak in a serpentine dance. The background is a blurred, decaying industrial space, barely perceptible behind the sharp contrast of her illuminated figure. Her intense gaze is locked forward, expression unreadable yet powerful. The image is rendered in a style inspired by high-detail character digital concept art, similar to a modern fantasy RPG character illustration, stylized realism with heroic proportions. Highly realistic lighting. Horizontal format, layered composition, dynamic magical lighting, realistic textures, cinematic depth.

When I was looking at this, the main one I saw was non-zeerusted, medium future, science fiction that doesn't go hardcore on the transhumanism. It's all either Traveller (zeerusted to hell with giant bulky computers and psi) or Mindjammer (eighteen bajillion weird sapients who are all human-descendants).

Never Mass Effect or Halo-esque, where you have humans, a few aliens, force fields, and FTL, but minimal transhumanism and worldbuilding that doesn't feel 50 years out of date.

>it totally works!
>as long as you change everything that makes it not work and create new rules that reinvent all the rules that get in the way
So, it doesn't work and your entire assertion is that you can make a class system that fits other genres, but only if you reinvent and combine all of the rules and mechanics for classes, powers, spells, how and when they are acquired, and so on. All to prove that point that being able to translate power level, in some cases, to character level, is a totally valid reason to make the same mistake every retard makes, and adapt D&D into something it wasn't meant for.

>or even worse, being the kind of retard who thinks they can make D&D work as the basis for their hyper niche game idea.
>The structures cover a lot more cases than you'd likely be comfortable with, since a LOT of stories have crazy-broad scaling in buckets separated for rarely-explained reasons.
You are genuinely retarded.
>>
>>96830204
>it totally works!
>as long as you change everything that makes it not work and create new rules that reinvent all the rules that get in the way
...Yes, and? It's good to see that you're finally starting to understand the idea is stripping D&D for parts to get a system going by actually considering if you NEED to reinvent the basics instead of insisting on trying to tightly fit everything with clean-sheet work.

>So, it doesn't work and your entire assertion is that you can make a class system that fits other genres, but only if you reinvent and combine all of the rules and mechanics for classes, powers, spells, how and when they are acquired, and so on.
And you lost it, it's specifically that it isn't ALL of them. How often do you think a class+level system DESPERATELY NEEDS to use baseline rules irreconcilably alien to D&D's history? How much TIME do you think writing a mana-pool magic system from scratch takes versus replacing the terms the Expanded Psionics Handbook uses and rescaling its PP numbers to fit? Identifying analogies in systems you're familiar with then looking to see if those rules can be fitted keeps you actually making a system instead of wrestling with premises for it.

>All to prove that point that being able to translate power level, in some cases, to character level, is a totally valid reason to make the same mistake every retard makes, and adapt D&D into something it wasn't meant for.
That block of self-replying was specifically to highlight otherwise; Most of the mistakes stem from rigid adherence to D&D-proper with things like Vancian spellcasting and class design paradigms, while I'm constantly saying to be fine with changing and outright removing parts AS NEEDED.

You are operating under the assumption that your idea to clusterfuck together random rules and ideas from multiple editions of D&D will result in time saved or that it is otherwise just better to use D&D's rules and fudge the gaping chasms to make things fit into the gaping chasms where the long list of built-in design assumptions for D&D do not work for a given genre or series. Saying you can just take something from one edition and rescale it for another edition doesn't actually mean that works or that such a task would be easy or quick or that the powers attached to that system would work perfectly, meaning you'd need to then readjust all of those powers and add or subtract from them over and over until they fit the premise you were attempting to emulate in the first place.

The reason this is a mistake isn't just because D&D and the d20 framework maps poorly to practically everything else that isn't meant to be dungeon crawl high fantasy combat treadmilling. It's because people have been doing that for nearly 50 fucking years and it never turns out well. Every idiot, like you, believes that it's just so easy to just nudge and tweak the game a little to fit Naruto or DBZ or HxH or whatever they happen to be enamored with at the time, and not a single one of them has made a genuinely good game in the process.

It is an inherently flawed and foolish premise, no matter how much you try to convince yourself that there's already enough material there that will work. You will only create more labor for yourself and the final product, if you even make a complete game, will be kinda terrible at best. It's not only a warning that your idea won't work the way you think it will, but advice not to waste your time trying. Especially when other people have already done it and either failed, or made something so radically different that to call it D&D at all is silly.

Mutants & Masterminds already exists and does nearly everything you're so sure you can do anyways
>>
>>96830729
>You are operating under the assumption that your idea to clusterfuck together random rules and ideas from multiple editions of D&D will result in time saved
Compared to trying to come up with a mechanic for a concept from scratch, oftentimes yes.

>or that it is otherwise just better to use D&D's rules
No, merely that they can be a viable point to start.

>and fudge the gaping chasms to make things fit ... where the long list of built-in design assumptions for D&D do not work for a given genre or series
Given how often this is just replacing the content or dropping non-entagled subsystems, yes.

>Saying you can just take something from one edition and rescale it for another edition doesn't actually mean that works
The rescaling mentioned is about shifting Psionics to the use-rates desired so you can not have to write like ten paragraphs of basic shit.

>or that the powers attached to that system would work perfectly
Again, content can be replaced, and in fact SHOULD.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image (follow the URL to get to a folder with some files, read the files to get to the archive). Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: Is Reach important or is it all about how you use it?

>change all the pronouns from "he" to singular "they"
This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I always hated the singular "they" because it often leads to weird grammatical snaggles of whether you're referring to an individual or a collective. In a game where precision of language is so important, this is going to cause so much needless confusion. I'll take literally any other pronoun, even made-up pronouns from the early 2000s fanfiction days like "xe/xir", but miss me with that "they" shit.

If you have to pay a trainer then I hope all options are viable whether the gold is spent on training or gear. Like, the difference between playing a monk or wizard who puts all that gold into training because they don't need better equipment compared to a paladin who needs that super expensive armor.

Inverse is also possible where characters that don't need equipment are left behind because their options at the shops are so poor.

And then a few sessions later run Unfriendly for real and possibly tack Metamorphosis onto that one if it runs too short.

I use it for my homebrew setting. It's part Roadside Picnic, part American Elsewhere, part Delta Green with an analogue horror theme. It's about an anomalous zone that opens up in the southwestern desert in the 1990's and a small group of people who record and explore/contain it.

I'd considered gearing it to something more generic like Cthulhu Eternal (which is basically DG with the name filed off) or Basic Fantasy Roleplaying, but Delta Green basically covers all the stuff I need for a small group exploring an unnatural environment.

If you created an Amazon setting, what would it be like? By Amazon setting, I don't mean a single society among many where women are primarily the fighters, I mean a setting where every society is this way.

I don't give a FUCK about faggotry, but this image right here is why DnD is fucking dead. Wizards of the Coast simply don't give a fuck about quality of anything they make or publish. It's all a cheap, shitty cashgrab, made at the lowest cost possible.
This one, single image is the prime example why DnD is over. They exceeded $1 Billion in revenue, but can't be bothered to get a good art for their ass media campaign.
If you think they'll ever bother to improve their dogshit, broken system, or write another good, immersive campaign. Don't count on it. It's never been more over than now.

Yeah don't give me the marketing excuse; most players are normal dudes and they're pandering to 2% of the population. It's not about money. Quit lying.

Yes, fag, we already had our own games and our own spaces. Then politics forced people to let in all the diversity, thus ruining it. Try to come up with a game of your own instead of taking over franchises you can't possibly create.

BTW, newer games were created, like the whole OSR community, we're just pointing out you ruining frnachises just like you ruin countries. If you mind us speaking out, you're the actual fascist, you're not heckin' valid and you're the snowflake.

Blood and Plunder figures ( and rules) sound like it would fit those scenarios

Anyone know how the Victrix and Warlord Romans match up? I'm waiting for the Victrix late Republican Romans they are coming early 2026, but while I wait I was thinking about doing up some Warlord late Republic Romans. I remember it being discussed here before that the Warlord ones are quite a big smaller so I am hesitating
>>
>>96830767
Warlords Romans were literally their first plastic kit, and their ages shows. Detail is not up to todays standards, and the figures are 25mm at best (many having lunging poses does not help them either).
Victrix on the other hand are modern, with all that this includes: better detail, crisper plastic, and also they are 28mm at least. (more towards 30).
Either go fully Warlord, or fully Victrix, but there really isn't any reason to buy the Warlord reason. Maybe if you can get like 200 of them for $20 during a sale or something.

Warlords scale continuity is absolutely horrible. Their imperial Romans are like 22mm, absolutely tiny and their Republican Romans are like 26mm, closer to Victrix than their own Imperial Romans.
This pic shows Warlord-Victrix-Warlord

Trying to get into one piece, got myself a starter deck and will have to visit a tcg store or something to try it out. Magic tg background, went over several rule videos, but the whole 0 mana counter cards, the mana in general (don) and the order of combat/playing cards stills seems a bit confusing to me without actually trying out the game. You guys like it? I like how cheap the cards/decks are, doesnt seem hard to get into (magic..)

I enjoy the game well enough but I quit around set 10. The core gameplay is fine but there were never many changes or new mechanics between sets. Cards tend to do whatever their color identity is and not much else. The resource system also being a way to power up your cards is a cool idea.

There's more freedom (or would be) in deck building for Gundam than One piece right?

So all I know is that One Pirate is a hero game while Gumham is a non hero game. The latter has two colors max, so if Won-pee has multiple colors, it's more diverse for deck building out the gates than Gunofqueens will ever be.
